It's a decent place. Clean. Breakfast is good. Front desk staff did tell us we had to put a credit card on file for incidentals but they did not tell us money would be charged and held. Would not have used my debit card if I knew. And then the automated key lock for the patio area did not work. Said it would be fixed within a few hours and it never was. If you are looking for a basic hotel that is clean with a good breakfast I would recommend
Within the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform category, we aim to provide detailed insights into various accommodation options available in your vicinity. Today, we are focusing on Residence Inn Deptford, located at 1154 Hurffville Rd, Deptford, NJ 08096, USA. This introduction will offer an objective overview of the hotel, covering its environment, services, features, and any relevant promotional information, all based on publicly available data and actual customer reviews.
Residence Inn by Marriott is a brand specifically designed for extended stays, offering spacious suites with full kitchens, a different proposition from a traditional hotel room. This makes Residence Inn Deptford particularly suitable for guests planning longer visits, corporate relocations, or family vacations where the convenience of home-like amenities is desired. The hotel's address on Hurffville Road places it within a commercial and residential area of Deptford, New Jersey. This environment typically offers a blend of accessibility to local businesses and a relatively quiet atmosphere, away from the immediate bustle of major city centers. Guests can expect a suburban setting, often characterized by landscaped grounds, ample parking, and proximity to various retail and dining establishments that cater to both short-term and long-term needs.
The immediate environment surrounding Residence Inn Deptford would be consistent with many modern suburban hotel developments. It is likely to be situated near other commercial properties, possibly shopping centers, restaurants, and perhaps other hotels, creating a convenient hub for travelers. The design of Residence Inn properties often includes outdoor spaces, such as a patio or grilling area, to enhance the extended-stay experience, though the functionality of such features, like the patio key lock mentioned in a review, can vary. The location on Hurffville Road suggests easy access to local thoroughfares, facilitating travel within Deptford and to surrounding areas of South Jersey. While the reviews don't explicitly detail the aesthetic of the external environment, the brand's focus on residential comfort implies a well-maintained and pleasant setting.
In terms of services, Residence Inn Deptford aims to provide a comprehensive experience, particularly for extended-stay guests. A key service offering, and a significant selling point for the brand, is the complimentary breakfast. Customer feedback confirms that the "Breakfast is good," indicating a positive aspect of their stay. The hotel's phone number, (856) 686-9188, and mobile phone, +1 856-686-9188, provide direct contact for guests to make inquiries or reservations. However, customer reviews reveal some inconsistencies and challenges with service delivery, particularly concerning the front desk staff. While one review commends the "night staff" as "amazing," specifically mentioning "Caress and Lynne" as "the sweetest," it also points out that "Daytime front desk needs help. They either move super slow or they're not very polite." This suggests variability in the quality of front desk interactions depending on the shift. Another service-related issue highlighted is the hotel's policy on incidentals: guests are required to put a credit card on file, but one reviewer noted that they were not informed that money would be charged and held, leading to dissatisfaction. Transparency regarding such policies is crucial for guest satisfaction.
A contentious point in the services and features aspect is the presence of a pool. A direct customer review emphatically states, "There's no pool. Idk why the owner keeps lying about this. It's been years of false advertisement." This is a critical piece of information for potential guests, as a pool is often a highly desired amenity, especially for families or for leisure. This discrepancy between advertised features and reality is a significant concern and something prospective guests should verify directly with the hotel if a pool is a deal-breaker for their stay. Beyond the pool issue, the general features of Residence Inn Deptford, as implied by the brand, typically include spacious suites with separate living, sleeping, and dining areas, and fully equipped kitchens with refrigerators, microwaves, stovetops, and dishwashers. These features are fundamental to the extended-stay concept, allowing guests to prepare their own meals and feel more at home. One reviewer described the place as "decent" and "clean," suggesting that the core elements of the accommodation meet basic expectations for hygiene. The functionality of in-room amenities like the patio key lock also appears to be an issue, as it was reported as broken and not fixed as promised. The presence of a "good breakfast" is a consistent positive feature.
Regarding promotional information, Residence Inn Deptford's primary draw, as with all Residence Inn properties, is its suitability for extended stays and the inclusion of complimentary breakfast. The emphasis on cleanliness, as noted by a reviewer, is also a positive aspect that would feature in promotional materials. However, the hotel faces a significant challenge with its promotional integrity due to the alleged false advertisement of a pool. This can severely impact guest trust and satisfaction. The positive feedback about specific night staff members like Caress and Lynne could be leveraged in internal promotions or staff recognition, but the overall inconsistency in front desk service needs addressing. The policy regarding incidental holds on credit cards is another area that, if not clearly communicated, can lead to negative guest experiences despite potentially being a standard industry practice. For guests looking for a "basic hotel that is clean with a good breakfast," the hotel seems to deliver on these core promises, which could be part of its targeted promotional message. However, for those expecting a wider range of amenities, particularly a pool, the current discrepancy is a major detractor.
In conclusion, Residence Inn Deptford, featured in the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, presents itself as a suitable option for extended stays, offering the convenience of a good complimentary breakfast and clean accommodations. Its location in Deptford, NJ, provides a suburban setting with good access to local amenities. However, prospective guests must be aware of critical inconsistencies highlighted in customer reviews, particularly the alleged false advertising regarding a pool and issues with front desk service and transparency regarding incidental charges. While some staff members receive high praise for their exceptional service, the overall guest experience appears to be variable. For travelers prioritizing cleanliness and a complimentary breakfast in an extended-stay format, Residence Inn Deptford might be a viable choice, provided they manage expectations regarding other advertised amenities and clarify incidental policies upfront. It's advisable for potential guests to contact the hotel directly to confirm the availability of specific features, especially the pool, before making a reservation to ensure their needs are met.

May 12, 2025 · Cindy HThere's no pool. Idk why the owner keeps lying about this. It's been years of false advertisement. Rich-one of the managers is extremely rude. He lies too. Most of the other staff is incredible though. Daytime front desk needs help. They either move super slow or they're not very polite. Night staff, however, is amazing. Caress and Lynne are the sweetest!
Apr 19, 2025 · Bri TaylorThis hotel was supposed to be completely non-smoking yet at every turn through the halls and upon opening the door to our suite, we were met with a different strange smell. When we entered the room there was some sort of air filter running, on the table, which had a label stating it was only meant for use when people were not in the room. We were immediately concerned that meant there was mold in the room. The floors/carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in months—there were chunks of ash and popcorn kernels next to the nightstand and dust/dirt everywhere. There was also some sort of scarf left on the ground in the other room of the suite... Made us very skeptical of how well the rooms were cleaned, if at all. We decided to look for bedbugs (not something we typically do, but were so concerned due to the lack of cleanliness of this place). Fortunately, we didn't find any, but instead found blood spots on the sheets. When we went to the front desk to tell them, they said they'd have someone bring new sheets. The person who brought them wouldn't come in to change the sheets, claiming they weren't allowed in the room. The internet was also down for our entire stay, so not only could we not use it, but the employees were apparently not able to offer any help or accommodations due to this. The employees were apologetic, but that's about it. This had to be the most disgusting hotel we've EVER stayed at—NOT something I'd expect from a Marriott property, having stayed at Marriotts countless times. I do want to say, the women in charge of setting up the breakfast in the morning were very nice—that's the one positive thing I can say.
Feb 25, 2025 · Kristen PWe will never stay here again! The hotel is very close to a highway and the windows are single pane, meaning we could hear the relentless highway noises clearly all night long. (Like, the windows might as well have been wide open, we could hear it so clearly. Lots of Jake breaks and thundering motorcycles at all hours.) It was so difficult to sleep! The room smelled vaguely of cigarettes even though it is allegedly non-smoking. The room was run down, they didn’t provide enough bedding for the pull out couch, we had to go to the front desk to get more. The staff was nice and when we had a noisy neighbor blaring music at 9:30pm when the kids were trying to go to sleep (they had propped their door open to let everyone nearby hear their music) the front desk was very prompt in responding and getting them to be quiet. The worst thing about this hotel: BED BUGS. My daughter slept on the pull out couch (the mattress is very old and uncomfortable) and when we got home after our 3 night stay, she showed us all these strange bites - she thought they were from mosquitoes but they’re all clustered in straight lines. Very indicative of bed bugs. And they’re all on the side of her body that she slept on. We’ve stayed in many hotels and have never had this happen. What an absolute MESS to come home from vacation and have to decontaminate everything! Never again! AVOID AVOID AVOID
Mar 13, 2025 · Suzi WebsterI'm giving 3 stars because we were in a pinch when our truck broke down on the way home to N. Carolina from a dogshow in Massachusetts and they had a room for us. But the room was smelly and old, the lighting was terrible, the blanket worn and lumpy. Everything was old and dingy looking but reasonably clean if you didn't look too close. My biggest beef is they charged us $100 pet fee, which was NOT disclosed to me when I called. I own 4 dogs and don't mind compensating peole who clean up after us at hotels. However I am very sensitive to being sure we leave the room as good as we found it. They may have to vacuum a bit more, but really, this room could use it anyway. The grounds were disgusting. There was dog poop everywhere! I am a huge advocate that people should clean up after their own dogs but there are lots of rude people who don't and I believe if a facility is going to charge me a $100 pet fee they could at least provide a place I can walk my dogs with out worrying we step in poop! We cleaned up after our dogs amid piles and piles already there. So we ended up paying $260 for a mediocre room and disgusting grounds. Very disappointing. I would not recommend. *Update* I requested a refund of the $100 pet fee and Residence Inn refunded our money. I am impressed with the customer service, though they did not contact me I found out through my credit card company. I still would not recommend this location but I am pleased they returned my money.
