As a lifetime platinum Marriott member, I’ve never written a bad review of a property until now. The room I was didn’t have heating/cooling working. I let them know when I was out of the room so that they could fix it, and when I returned it still wasn’t working. They told me that an engineer went to fix it, but didn’t want to enter the room without me there. This made no sense to me at all. That meant that after a long day, I had to hang out in the room with the engineer for 30 minutes before he told me he didn’t have what he needed to fix it. They moved me to a different room, and it took me until I was about to go to sleep to realize that the door didn’t close properly. I could hear people in the hallway, and noticed that the door doesn’t shut on its own because of faulty hardware. I had to shove it shut with my shoulder. When I woke up in the morning, my room smelled like an ashtray because it appears as if there is an area outside where staff takes smoke breaks. Adding to all of it, the WiFi wasn’t working properly. I called to the front desk, their advice was, “there’s not much I can do to help you, maybe just play around with it.” I reached out to management to share my concerns, and never received a reply. Of course, I wasn’t surprised. Everything about the stay felt sloppy. Which is too bad, because it’s a good location. Marriott should be embarrassed to have this hotel as part of its brand.

The environment of Residence Inn Syracuse Downtown at Armory Square is designed with the extended-stay traveler in mind. The hotel features spacious suites rather than traditional hotel rooms, providing ample space for guests to relax, work, and dine. Each suite is thoughtfully appointed with a fully equipped kitchen, including a refrigerator, microwave, stovetop, and dishwasher, alongside all the necessary cookware and dinnerware. This feature is a significant advantage for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals, offering both cost savings and the comfort of a home-cooked meal. The living areas in the suites are separate from the sleeping areas, providing a clear distinction between relaxation and rest, contributing to a more comfortable and productive stay. While the overall design aims for comfort, some guests have reported issues with room functionality, such as heating/cooling systems and door closures, which are areas the hotel continuously works to address to ensure guest satisfaction. Additionally, some guests have noted a lingering smoke smell in certain areas, suggesting a need for improved ventilation or designated smoking zones.
When it comes to services, Residence Inn Syracuse Downtown at Armory Square strives to offer a comprehensive array of amenities designed to enhance the guest experience. A key highlight is the complimentary hot breakfast served daily, providing a convenient and nutritious start to the day. This often includes a variety of options such as eggs, sausage, fresh fruit, pastries, and coffee. For evening relaxation, the hotel typically hosts social hours a few times a week, where guests can enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages, fostering a sense of community among travelers. The hotel also provides a fitness center, allowing guests to maintain their workout routines while away from home. While the website advertises services like HBO and grocery shopping, some guests have reported discrepancies, indicating that HBO may not be available and the grocery service described on the card in the room might not be actively offered by the front desk. Furthermore, while Wi-Fi is available, some guests have experienced connectivity issues, and while an upgrade option is mentioned, its availability and functionality have been inconsistent. It's advisable for guests to confirm specific amenity availability upon arrival. The front desk can be reached at (315) 422-4864 or +1 315-422-4864 for inquiries, although some guests have reported challenges with responsiveness from staff regarding technical issues and management follow-up.
The features that set Residence Inn Syracuse Downtown apart include its emphasis on extended-stay living. The full kitchens are a major draw, providing self-sufficiency that many travelers appreciate. The business services, including a business center with computers and printing capabilities, cater to corporate travelers. The hotel's location in Armory Square truly is a distinguishing feature, offering unparalleled access to Syracuse's downtown attractions and business hubs. However, guests should be aware that while the location is excellent, some operational aspects, such as the consistent functionality of in-room amenities and reliable internet service, have received mixed reviews. The hotel is part of the Marriott brand, and while the brand generally signifies a certain standard, some guests have expressed that this particular property has areas for improvement to fully align with those expectations.
From a promotional standpoint, Residence Inn Syracuse Downtown at Armory Square frequently offers various deals and packages, especially for extended stays, government, or corporate rates. Guests are encouraged to check the official Marriott website or contact the hotel directly at (315) 422-4864 or +1 315-422-4864 for the most up-to-date promotional information. The hotel also participates in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program, allowing members to earn and redeem points for stays, potentially offering additional benefits and discounts. While the hotel aims to provide a comfortable and convenient experience, potential guests should consider the feedback from previous visitors regarding discrepancies in advertised amenities, internet connectivity, and the promptness of maintenance and management responses. Despite these occasional challenges, the prime location in Armory Square, coupled with the spacious, kitchen-equipped suites and complimentary breakfast, continues to make Residence Inn Syracuse Downtown a notable option for those searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category in Syracuse, particularly for travelers seeking an extended stay experience with the flexibility of a home-like environment.

Apr 20, 2025 · Derek WallaceRooms are great, but the amenities are falsely advertised. The website says they offer HBO and grocery service. There is no HBO and the TVs are buggy. They say they grocery shop for their guests and have a card in the room to fill out for grocery needs, but the desk will laugh at you if you give them the card. None of my devices would connect to their wifi and I had to call a 1-800 number to fix it. They offer an internet speed upgrade for $5 a day, but when I tried to use it the desk told me their internet was experiencing difficulties.
May 16, 2025 · Hope FullyI stayed at Residence Inn Syracuse Downtown during the first week of April. While the stay itself was comfortable, I had an issue with billing that remains unresolved. The hotel charged me $20 twice on April 5th as a pre-authorization, which I was told at the reception would be reversed after check-out. However, even after several weeks and returning to my home country (India), I noticed on my Amex credit card statement that the charges have not been reversed. I’ve tried to follow up but haven’t received a proper explanation or resolution. It's disappointing that a trusted name like Marriott hasn't addressed such a basic billing concern. I hope the management takes this seriously and resolves the matter at the earliest.
Apr 30, 2025 · ankit bhattRooms were clean and staff were super helpful. It is combined with a Courtyard Hotel which can get confusing. Close to everything downtown.
May 10, 2025 · Traveling KafkaGreat location ( we came for a concert and it was close walking distance if it wasn't freezing outside). Clean room, equipped with a full kitchen. Free breakfast until 9.30. Would stay here again.
