My family and I recently stayed during Prelude. We booked 2 rooms and stayed a total of 3 nights. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this hotel, especially for families. It has a very homey feel, and the staff was outstanding. The free breakfast included yogurt, fruit, hardboiled eggs, bagels/toast, cereal & coffee and juice. They also offered hot cider and cookies in the afternoon/evening which I thought was a wonderful gesture. The property is certainly in need of some updates, specifically the mini fridge in our room was not very cold, and the dial was broken so we could not adjust it, and the bathroom ceiling fan did not work, but the room was clean and fairly spacious. It's a economical stay, with indoor and outdoor pools + hot tubs. I will forewarn if your rooms are in the same wing as the indoor pool, you can smell the chlorine in the hallway, but at least you know its being maintained. I've stayed in much nicer and much worse hotels, and I can undoubtingly say I would stay here again.

It is important to note that while the rooms are generally described as clean and fairly spacious, some guests have pointed out that the property is "in need of some updates," with instances of broken mini-fridge dials or non-functional bathroom ceiling fans. The decor might appear "outdated" or "shabby" to some, with observations of hallway rugs needing vacuuming or spiders on walls in some older reviews. However, other guests counteract this by affirming the rooms are clean and the staff hardworking.
Despite some comments about property conditions, customer reviews consistently praise the "outstanding" and "very friendly and polite" staff at the Rhumb Line Resort. Guests frequently commend the staff's helpfulness and their dedication, even in challenging situations, such as addressing issues with room cleanliness or amenities like damp sheets late at night. This "homey feel" and personalized service contribute significantly to the positive guest experience, making visitors feel cared for and valued. This level of service is a strong point, enhancing the overall perception of the resort.
The Rhumb Line Resort positions itself as an "economical stay" with extensive facilities. Its value proposition is strong for families looking for a budget-conscious option that still offers a wide range of amenities, particularly the indoor and outdoor pools and complimentary breakfast. The "Kids Free" policy (kids 16 & under stay free in parents' room, including breakfast) further underscores its family-friendly appeal and enhances its affordability.
However, it is crucial to note that the Rhumb Line Resort does not allow pets, with only service animals permitted. This is an important detail for travelers planning to bring their furry companions.
The Rhumb Line Resort actively promotes itself as "Kennebunkport's Affordable Family Resort," emphasizing its quiet setting, proximity to attractions, and extensive amenities. They highlight their year-round facilities, including the indoor pool and hot tubs, which make it a viable option even outside the peak summer season. Special rates are offered during the low season (e.g., March and December being the cheapest months) and for specific events like Kennebunkport Christmas Prelude, where special holiday packages are available. They also offer a "Paint the Town Red" Valentine's Day promotion with a third night free for two-night bookings.
The resort emphasizes its comprehensive offerings, including the "Downeast Feast" lobster bakes during summer, which are a quintessential Maine experience. For anyone searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Kennebunkport, particularly families or those on a budget seeking a resort-style stay with pools and a complimentary breakfast, the Rhumb Line Resort remains a viable choice, despite some noted areas for improvement in terms of property updates. The consistently praised staff and comprehensive facilities contribute to many guests' willingness to "stay here again."

Dec 19, 2024 · ArielleI recently secured three room for our family to attend a wedding. Our three rooms (hallway off the front desk) were filthy. Our sheets were damp and at 10:00 pm the manager who was very friendly and polite, had to come and change the sheets. She was stumped as to why the sheets and blanket were wet. I will post pictures of the mattress and other filthy elements of the room. Even the hairdryers were filled with dust. The halls and cafeteria were so out dated and shabby. Even the entry way to get from the parking lot to our rooms, was littered with trash. The hallway rugs were desperately in need of a vacuum at the very least. There were spiders all over the walls. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!
Nov 17, 2024 · JeanThe resort caters primarily to working-class individuals, which is great for affordability but indicates it could benefit from some modern updates. While the staff were truly fantastic and provided excellent service, there were a few drawbacks. Specifically, the sauna was quite unsettling—it didn't meet expectations and had an ambiance that could only be described as nightmare fuel. This aspect definitely needs addressing to enhance the overall experience for guests.
Aug 18, 2024 · ezr0cool 1Quaint little place that looks like it was once the place to be ! Really needs some basic updating and some general maintenance before we would come back. Was a bit shocked at how run down the indoor pool area was. The front desk ladies were amazing and very helpful, so this is just a matter of some absent property management. Decent price, but not much of a resort these days.
Jun 17, 2024 · Joel TomkoWent here recently with friends to dine outdoors and did not have a great experience. I asked the women with colorful hair behind the bar if I could please get a diet Pepsi and a burger. She responded by asking me if I was a member. I told her I was not, to which she asked if I was there with a member. I again responded, no. She told me I needed to give her the first and last name of a member to look up and I told her I was just there with friends. She then said, "You can't go in the pool without being or knowing a member." I had to ask her two more times if I was allowed to order food and drink without giving her a member's first and last name to look up. I even repeated that I was not there for the pool. She did not apologize, but rather put in my order after I reiterated that I was not there to use the pool. My friend ordered French fries and they were left on the empty table behind us. She asked if they were hers and got no response. She eventually went back to where they were cooking to ask about the order of fires and was told "They're on that empty table there". They were cold at that point, and she had to have them remade. All around strange experience that could have easily been remedied with some basic manners and people skills.
