Better than a hotel in my opinion. Room was clean except for a few reeses peeces wrappers under the bed. Comes with a communal kitchen and bathroom which are decent unless you are over 6'2. Shower heads are on the shorter side. No elevators so if you are on the 2nd floor just have to hoof it. Its warm in the winter and has hot water. Worked for me.
The RTI Billeting Student Building, located at WF79+VC, Marietta, GA 30060, USA, is a unique accommodation option that might appear on "Hotels Near Of Me" searches. However, it's crucial to understand that this facility does not operate as a conventional public hotel. Instead, it serves as a specialized lodging establishment, primarily catering to students or personnel attending training programs, likely associated with military or government-related educational initiatives, such as language schools. Its design and operation are geared towards providing economical, dormitory-style living rather than a full-service hotel experience.
Environment: Institutional Setting with Basic Amenities
The RTI Billeting Student Building is situated within an institutional or training facility environment in Marietta, GA. The nature of its purpose as "billeting" suggests a functional, no-frills setting designed for efficiency and practicality. The building itself is multi-story, and as one guest noted, "No elevators so if you are on the 2nd floor just have to hoof it," indicating a basic infrastructure. While some aspects are deemed "clean" by certain guests, other reviews paint a concerning picture of the environmental conditions, with reports of "visible black mold and mildew odor in all of the rooms, specifically the bathrooms." This suggests significant issues with building maintenance and air quality. The communal nature of the facilities means guests share spaces, and the overall ambiance is more akin to a dormitory or barracks than a typical hotel lobby or guest room. The expectation should be for a functional, rather than aesthetically pleasing, environment.
Services: Limited Scope with Staff Support
The services offered at the RTI Billeting Student Building are tailored to its specific purpose as student or trainee lodging, rather than a full-service hotel. There is staff available, and reviews generally describe them as "accommodating and nice enough," indicating a degree of responsiveness for immediate needs. However, the range of services is limited compared to a commercial hotel. Guests are provided with a private room, but key facilities like kitchens and bathrooms are communal. This implies guests are expected to manage their own cooking and share common hygiene areas. While hot water is available, the "shower heads are on the shorter side," which might pose an inconvenience for taller individuals. A significant concern raised by a guest is about the water quality, stating that "The water is marketed as potable. It is NOT. If you drink from the sink, you will get sick." This serious claim suggests a potential health hazard and indicates that guests might need to make alternative arrangements for drinking and cooking water. Housekeeping services, while present, might be less frequent or thorough than in a standard hotel, as implied by finding "a few reeses peeces wrappers under the bed." The focus of services is on providing basic shelter and facilities for a specific cohort of users.
Features: Basic Room and Shared Facilities
The individual rooms at the RTI Billeting Student Building are described as providing a basic, functional space for sleeping. One guest favorably compared them to a hotel, noting they were "clean except for a few reeses peeces wrappers under the bed." The core features of the accommodation include:
However, the negative feedback regarding "visible black mold and mildew odor" in rooms and bathrooms, along with concerns about the potability of sink water, represent critical issues that directly impact the comfort and safety of the features provided. These issues significantly detract from the perceived quality and usability of the facilities, regardless of their basic functionality. The lack of elevators also presents a physical accessibility challenge for some guests.
Promotional Information: Focus on Affordability for a Specific Audience
The RTI Billeting Student Building is not marketed to the general public as a leisure or business hotel. Instead, its "promotional information" is inherently tied to its function as a cost-effective lodging solution for students and personnel involved in specific training programs. Its primary appeal lies in its affordability. As one review states, "It's cheap, but not worth the literal headache," highlighting its budget-friendly nature but also the potential trade-offs. For those attending language school or other courses where accommodation is not strictly mandated, the choice to stay here is often driven by the lower cost compared to commercial hotels. The facility provides a very basic place to stay, which for some, is "better than a hotel" due to its simplicity and the presence of a communal kitchen, which can save money on dining out. However, the severe concerns raised in reviews regarding mold and water quality would likely overshadow any positive promotional messaging for guests who prioritize health and cleanliness. Prospective occupants, particularly those coming for longer-term study, should be aware of these reported issues and consider if the cost savings outweigh the potential health and comfort disadvantages before choosing this accommodation for their "Hotels Near Of Me" search in Marietta.

Jan 04, 2025 · Sam HunteVisible black mold and mildew odor in all of the rooms, specifically the bathrooms. If you drink from the sink, you will get sick. I was using the water from the sink to cook and for drinking water (rookie mistake) and after a few days, I felt extremely ill: light-headed, sick to my stomach, extremely tired, GI symptoms, headache, muscle stiffness, etc. The water is marketed as potable. It is NOT. If you're coming here for language school, book somewhere else; per language course managers, DTS doesn't mandate that you stay here. It's cheap, but not worth the literal headache. Staff is accommodating and nice enough but the buildings are absolutely infested with mold.
Sep 17, 2024 · Morgan G.It is a standard military lodging. I do wish that they would update the mattress. However, it is a clean basic room.
Apr 07, 2025 · Eric SuttonThe bathroom is small, and the beds are just on the passing side of passing, but compared to most other barracks type hotels I've been in, it's one of the better ones. There is plenty of storage in each room, desk, TV, and chair. The windows open, and the kitchen area has a microwave, small stove, and refrigerator.
Apr 03, 2024 · Malia ColeThe following issues found on arrival: headboard fell down when touched; broken parts of window and other hardware scattered around room; terrible smell; roaches; toilet dirty with pee, hair, and mold; broken showerhead barely hanging on; missing and displaced screens; no hot water; no internet; no place to keep the coffeemaker setup near an outlet; dirty cupboards.
