Shady people that lack basic human respect. Don't go the extra mile for them and expect anything back in return. I, too, am a business owner and I would have never treated a customer in the way in which we were treated. He just called and cussed me out for my review.

The property generally features a modest, well-maintained exterior with convenient parking directly outside the rooms (often via exterior corridors), which is a significant convenience for travelers with luggage. There is typically a seasonal outdoor pool, offering a refreshing amenity during warmer months, and sometimes an off-leash area for pets, indicating a consideration for animal companions. The overall environment is one of an accessible and unpretentious base camp for exploring the picturesque region.

The front desk generally operates with limited hours (e.g., daily from 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM), but usually offers 24-hour availability for check-in via a key retrieval system or on-call staff to accommodate late arrivals. Daily housekeeping is typically provided, ensuring rooms are cleaned and refreshed. These platforms frequently highlight the free WiFi and free self-parking as included benefits, adding to the perceived value. The pet-friendly policy is another key promotional aspect, attracting travelers who need accommodation for their animals. While specific, time-limited discounts would need to be sought directly on these booking platforms, Scottish Inns often offers flexible cancellation policies, which can be a promotional benefit for travelers with uncertain plans. Reviews frequently mention the property as "very affordable and clean," reinforcing its value proposition. Guests might find variations in pricing based on seasonality, with lower rates typically found in the low season (e.g., March) and higher rates in the high season (e.g., April or summer months). The proximity to popular attractions like Wheels Through Time Museum, Cataloochee Ski Area, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is always a strong selling point, positioning the motel as an ideal base for exploring the region. Horrible Experience at Scottish Inn in Maggie Valley, NC - Avoid at All Costs We booked a two-night stay at the Scottish Inn in Maggie Valley, NC, after a long 12-hour drive from Florida. We arrived at the motel around 6 PM and brought our suitcase into the room before heading out for dinner. Before we left, we noticed the couple in the room next to ours packing up their things and leaving, looking visibly upset. We didn’t think much of it at the time. However, when we returned to our room around 9 PM, we decided to pull back the comforter to check the sheets. To our absolute disgust, we found a large stain in the middle of the bed, along with what looked like pubic hair. The sheets were dirty and clearly had not been changed since the last guest. We immediately went to the office and requested the manager to come to our room. The manager, along with the front desk person, came over, looked at the bed, and to our surprise, they acted like they were shocked and denied any wrongdoing. The manager insisted that the room is cleaned after each guest, but their response was both rude and unprofessional. They made us feel as if we were trying to scam them into getting a free stay, which was absolutely not the case. This motel is family-owned, and it seemed like the manager was the son, the receptionist the daughter, and their parents were also present on the property. When we requested a refund and informed them that we were leaving, they begrudgingly offered to change the sheets, but their attitude was far from apologetic. When we refused the offer and reiterated our request for a refund, they flat-out refused and told us to leave. We mentioned that we had taken pictures of the state of the room and would be leaving a review, but the manager just laughed at us. We were incredibly upset by the entire experience. It was a Saturday night during Labor Day weekend, and finding another place to stay at 9 PM was a nightmare. We want to make sure that others are aware of how poorly we were treated and the unsanitary conditions of this motel. We would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere. Attached are the photos of the stained and dirty sheets as proof of our experience.

There's definitely nothing fancy about this place but it seemed clean enough. It is in a great location, right on the side of the road. They have a pool, and if you walk around back there's a really beautiful little river running through for a photo opportunity.

Do NOT stay here. I drove a long out-of-state distance to attend a funeral with my elderly mother. The only reason we stayed here was because we had three small dogs. I had to leave a day early because I had an emergency with my dog and Paul Patel, General Manager, was given ample notice. He said he would think about giving me a refund for one day. When I called back, his father said Paul was in and out. I called again, and Paul would hang up on me and when I called back, it went to voice mail. He lacks common courtesy and doesn't have basic customer service business skills. There were several rooms where it appeared that people lived there. Residents smoked day and night outside on their rocking chairs. If you don't mind the possibility of getting cancer from second-hand smoke, this is the motel for you.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! They do not clean the rooms properly!!! When we checked in at around 6 p.m. we brought our stuff into the room and it looked and smelled ok. After about 10 minutes we noticed the couple in the room next to us had an issue and checked out and appeared to get a refund because something was wrong with their room. We really didn't think to much about it at that time and then left and went for a quick drive to check out the area and grab a quick bite to eat. When we got back to the room we pulled back the comforter and found a stain on the sheet that was still slightly wet and also dirt and public hair. It was obvious at that time what may have been wrong with the other couples room. I went to the office and asked them to come take a look and they had the nerve to act like it was no big deal and they did clean and change the sheets when it was obvious they did not. Please see pics. They weren't even apologetic at any point and were rude from the beginning of the encounter and didn't offer to change the sheets until I asked for a refund and then acted like we were the bad guys. Now I have to call and dispute the charges on my credit card all because these people of this FAMILY OWNED MOTEL don't have the decency to do their jobs right and admit they are disgusting. Their attitude and buisness practices do not even deserve the one star that I was forced to put in order to post this review. And the manager actually laughed at us when we told him we were going to write a review.
