When we checked in for a 3 night stay the primary issue was the room, it had not been cleaned well. My wife is admittedly quite particular about cleanliness and was prepared to walk away from the hotel (potentially leaving over $800 on the table) but I convinced her to stay. (I am not so particular but admit happy wife is happy life) Instead, we requested from the front desk and a staff member delivered cleaning supplies and we spent over an hour cleaning to an acceptable level. The window area was particularly dirty. Hairs (yes, plural) on the toilet and stains on the bed skirt were also unappealing. The heating/cooling unit was dirty inside. My issue, albeit not a showstopper, was the loud squeaky hinges on room door. (Like haunted house level) If I find something unacceptable in my own home when I have guests then it is generally unacceptable in a hotel. A couple drops of oil is easy to do. It's the details and little things that add up to make an exceptional product or experience. Older hotels can be a challenge and take extra effort to maintain. You need to make that extra effort. A previous reviewer said, “This is not a resort. It's a retreat.” True statement. On a positive note, all hotel staff were friendly and professional, the breakfast was good and the common areas were comfortable and inviting. The historical displays were very interesting. The view is to die for.

We really enjoyed our stay. My room was very clean. The breakfast was delicious. The pool was beautiful. My deduction of stars for service though is because when we first arrived, we found the lake by total chance. We had been driving from SC to IN with a 1 year old and I went into the Lambuth inn and asked if they had any availability. The front desk said that she had a center room available but and offered to call across the lake to the Terrace for us because we wanted a lake view or else we would go down the road to a hotel I already have a creditcard with. The phone call she placed to the Terrace was very brief. "Do you have a room available? ....No, okay. I didn't think so. I said okay no thank you, and walked out. I got online and there were more rooms available BUT only with Booking.com (and various other 3rd parties). I give the hotels the benefit of a doubt that sometimes 3rd parties can mess up normal operations but it still felt like a low blow. Our room at the Terrace - booked through booking.com was on the 5th floor with a beautiful lakeside view. I'm 28 years old so I know to look at these things, but someone older and not so great renting a room over their mobile phones internet would have settled with that center room for no good reason at all. It was a LATE check in. I mean it was 6 o'clock and I asked if they had a room for THAT night. So our Lakeview room would have sat empty that night anyway. Ssooo long story short is I guess if they only have a center room/no rooms when you book, to go ahead and check these other websites to see if you can get a Lakeview room? The room service women were very kind and had very good hospitality. They earned 5 stars.

I have always wanted to stay here and after a day of annual work training I did! We had lunch the day of training and the buffet they had was very good. The room was very clean, a bit dated, but very comfortable and peaceful. I hope to go back soon on my own time.

Near full-service hotel in a great setting. Provides buffet meals, limited maid service, well-equipped rooms. Refrigerator, but no microwave in room, although there is one in the lobby.

First off let's start with whoever rated this a 2 star hotel needs Jesus! This place deserves a minimum 3 stars. The Lake views from the rooms are amazing for the price. The breakfast & staff deserve applause! The rooms could use some updates but overall this is a great hotel! We enjoyed our stay & will be back!
