Snow Cap Inn goes beyond just comfortable rooms by offering a range of services and amenities that enhance the guest experience, particularly for those enjoying the Sunday River area:
Proximity and Shuttle Service: The inn's location is its strongest suit, being just a stone's throw from the Sunday River slopes. A highly praised complimentary shuttle service runs every 30 minutes (from 7:00 AM on weekends/holidays and 8:00 AM on weekdays, with on-call service after 5:00 PM), providing effortless transportation to all base lodges. Guests can also walk to the South Ridge lift or access the Road Runner ski trail via a short walk through a nearby parking lot, offering direct trail access.
Relaxation and Warmth: After a day on the slopes, guests can unwind in the recently remodeled outdoor hot tub and communal fire pits located just outside the front door. These are perfect for warming sore muscles and enjoying the mountain air. Inside, two inviting fireplaces create a cozy lodge atmosphere, ideal for relaxing with a book or socializing.
Complimentary Food and Beverages: A standout feature often mentioned by guests is the complimentary offerings. This includes freshly brewed coffee and tea, excellent blueberry muffins in the morning, and delicious fresh-baked cookies in the afternoon. The hot chocolate bar available at night is comprehensive and a fabulous treat, especially during colder months.
Guest Services: The staff at Snow Cap Inn are consistently described as super friendly and helpful, contributing significantly to a wonderful experience. Daily housekeeping services are offered, and guests can find an ice machine in the main lobby. Laundry facilities with washers and dryers are available for guest use on the ground floor, a practical amenity for longer stays or messy ski gear.
Pet-Friendly Policy: Snow Cap Inn is a dog-friendly accommodation, welcoming furry friends in select rooms for an extra charge of $40.00 per accommodation, per day. Service animals are exempt from fees.
Other Conveniences: The inn provides free self-parking on site. There's also a 24-hour front desk (though phone access might be limited in the evening as noted by some past guests), a front desk safe, and vending machines for snacks and drinks.
Snow Cap Inn is renowned for offering good value for its rates, especially given its prime location at Sunday River Resort. While specific promotional offers may vary by season or booking platform, the inn generally provides an affordable option for a ski trip or mountain getaway.
It's important for guests to be aware of the check-in and check-out times. Check-in is typically after 5:00 PM (or 4:00 PM on non-holiday weekdays), and check-out is at 10:30 AM. This can sometimes be a point of concern for guests who arrive early or wish for a later departure, as it means being charged for a full day despite a limited window. However, the front desk can be contacted on the day of arrival to see if an earlier check-in is possible, and similarly for late check-out on the morning of departure. A damage deposit of $150 is required upon arrival, collected by credit card, and fully reimbursed upon check-out after property inspection. Cribs are available for an extra charge of $20 per day.
The hotel is smoke-free, with a $250 fine for smoking in rooms. While cash was accepted for payments in the past, current information suggests that the property primarily accepts credit cards, and cashless transactions are available. The property is typically closed for a period between April and July for renovations or seasonal closures, so it's advisable to check availability for those dates.
Guest reviews consistently praise Snow Cap Inn for its ideal location, friendly and helpful staff, and the excellent value it provides. The complimentary breakfast items, including blueberry muffins and fresh cookies, along with the hot chocolate bar, are frequently highlighted as delightful touches. The newly remodeled outdoor hot tub and fire pits are also a big hit, offering a perfect way to relax après-ski. While rooms are described as "basic," they are generally clean and comfortable, meeting the expectations for a convenient ski lodge. The efficient and frequent shuttle service to the slopes receives high marks. Some guests have noted challenges with reaching the front desk by phone in the evenings for inquiries about early arrivals, and the check-in/check-out times compared to being charged for a full day can be a minor inconvenience for some. However, the overall sentiment points to Snow Cap Inn as a highly recommended spot for those looking for a practical, comfortable, and well-located stay at Sunday River.

Mar 14, 2025 · Kim HesterRoom was clean and comfortable . Location was fantastic shuttle bus was great!! Staff was friendly. I would have liked to have given 5 stars across the board, however I can not. For two reasons ,First being We were arriving a night early so I tried to call to see if they had a room available. They phone number I used to make the reservation that's listed on line had no one to answer in the evening! I was surprised because this is not a small resort. The second reason is the checking time verses the checkout time being charged a full day but you can't check in until after 5pm checkout is 10:30
Feb 17, 2025 · Pamela KauffmanIt was alright but kind of dirty. Walls in the bathroom needed a solid cleaning. There was skum on the surface of the hot tub. Carpet had some funk too. Doors had damage and heater was loud. The tv popop was super annoying too. It was stuck in tv demo mode and there was no menu option to turn it off. I spent time researching how and it was not possible, so watch Lord of the Rings with a stupid popup on the screen the whole time saying hdmi... if you do end up staying there the high movie channels have no ads (hbo etc theres like 10 of them) Also at 830-9am maids starting banging on door after I slept like shit. I woke up as they began to enter my room, opened the door before I could reply. She obviously apologized but could have seen me nude! Guess I should have hung the sign, oops. Then the really strange thing occurred shortly after some other guest also opened the door to my room. I HEY IM IN HERE! He then says sorry wrong room. After I was super confused. How did another guests card work on my door!! Security issues?!! (I guess the door could have been slightly cracked but I heard it shut when the maid shut it) Either way after all this my sleep was terrible. Honestly, I expected more staying at on the mountain accommodations. Also no ski in ski out accommodation next to a lower parking lot. I had a better experience at the Inn at the Rostay, and it was cheaper, too (5 minutes from the mountain)
Apr 01, 2025 · Jon DreherThe Snowcap in should be placed on the Michelin guide. We stayed for two nights, and I can speak for my entire group when I say that this was the best lodging experience we’ve ever had. The rooms are nice, beds are comfy, bathrooms are a bit tight, but I like it that way. Now what really hooked us were the incredible and seemingly endless amenities. Where do I even start. This hotel is like the 96’ Bulls when it comes to amenities. This hotel reminds me of my king, Lebron, a bit old, but at the top of its league. The moment you enter the lobby, you are greeted with the wafting scent of freshly baked cookies. These are the kind of cookies that would make even lebron cheat on his diet. Complimenting the warm ahh cookies is a fully stocked hot chocolate bar - filled with chocolate chips, crushed peppermint, a modern looking kettle and snowflake topped drink stirrers. If you stand at the hot coco bar and look to your right, you will glimpse the s’mores bar. Filled with fresh marshmallows, pre partitioned chocolate and individually wrapped gram crackers. These ingredients are accompanied by fresh marshmallow roasting sticks. Now I bet you are wondering, “where in the dickens will I roast these? Should I just eat them raw in my room?” This is what I personally witnessed many guests doing. What they must not have realized is that there is not one, but two wood burning fires just a 12 second walk away on the patio. And might I add, these fires sit adjacent to one of the nicest hotel hot tubs I have ever had the pleasure of watching lebron highlights in. For my fellow early riser ski enthusiasts, there is a fully stocked coffee bar in the lobby. While you enjoy your fresh, hot, steamy ahh coffee, you can head on over to the Sunday river ticket kiosk located by the front desk to print your pass in the comfort of your own communal lobby. After you return home from shredding the slopes of Sunday river, feel free to hit the sprits bar, fully equipped with ice cold soda water, various flavored syrups and garnishes and a daily mock-tail recipe to follow. I personally did not follow the recipe, instead I chose to make a lebron inspired mock-tail (for obvious reasons I cannot disclose the recipe). Nevertheless, it was delicious, just like Lebron’s three pointers. The staff was nice, beds were comfy, blah blah, blah… lebron hosted an instagram live where he sung his favorite songs, which I recorded to replay in order to lul me to sleep each night in the Snow Cap Hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone and anyone. The rooms were fine, no complaints, but the endless amenities made my stay, I could really tell that the owners of this establishment truly care about their guest’s experience.
Jan 11, 2025 · Nicholas UnkovskoyThis hotel is shady. They advertise that if you stay with them you can buy the stay and save lift tickets but don't tell you that you have to pay much more and book with them and are not allowed to book with expedia or another travel service. FALSE ADVERTIZING.
