To start off with the positive, the front desk lady was very very nice. She was sweet, helpful, and very friendly. Also, some of the guests that I came across were very friendly and very helpful. Now the negative, the property is very rundown. It is slum living at best. I have no idea how this hotel scored 8.8 on the Agoda hotel booking app. I am sorry to say, I would not recommend this hotel.
The Sonesta Simply Suites Philadelphia Mount Laurel, located at 4000 Crawford Pl, Mt Laurel Township, NJ 08054, USA, presents itself as an all-suite hotel designed with both business and leisure travelers in mind, particularly those seeking longer stays. Within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, this establishment aims to offer a comfortable, home-like experience, distinguishing itself with in-room kitchen facilities and pet-friendly policies. While it strives to provide a seamless stay, it's important to consider a balanced view, incorporating both the positive aspects and areas where guests have expressed concerns, as reflected in recent customer reviews.
Situated in the business district of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, the Sonesta Simply Suites benefits from a suburban environment that offers relative quietness while maintaining convenient access to local attractions and major transportation routes. It is within driving distance of downtown Philadelphia, providing guests with the option to explore the historical and cultural offerings of the city. Nearby points of interest include Coco Key Water Resort, Moorestown Mall, Cherry Hill Mall, and the Garden State Discovery Museum, making it a potentially suitable location for families. The area also hosts corporate offices for companies like Liberty Mutual and GE, catering to business travelers. Free self-parking is available on-site, adding to the convenience for guests traveling by car.
However, customer reviews present a mixed picture of the hotel's physical environment and upkeep. While some guests appreciate the quiet atmosphere and convenient location, others have reported issues concerning the property's condition. Comments indicate that the property can appear "rundown" or "outdated" in some parts, suggesting that while the location is strategic, the physical plant may show signs of wear. Specific concerns have been raised about cleanliness in certain areas, including the presence of insects and issues with general upkeep. This feedback suggests that while the hotel aims for a comfortable environment, experiences can vary, and prospective guests should manage their expectations regarding the age and maintenance of the facilities.
The Sonesta Simply Suites Philadelphia Mount Laurel's service model is built around providing amenities that cater to extended stays, allowing guests to maintain a semblance of their home routine.
Full Kitchens in Every Suite: A hallmark service, each suite is equipped with a full kitchen, including a full-sized refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishwasher, and essential cookware, dishes, and utensils. This allows guests the flexibility to prepare their own meals, which can be a significant cost-saving and convenience factor, especially for longer durations.
Laundry Facilities: On-site self-serve laundry facilities are available, which is crucial for guests on extended trips, minimizing the need to seek external laundromats.
24-Hour Fitness Center: For guests who wish to maintain their fitness routine, the hotel provides a 24-hour gym. While some reviews suggest the gym might be basic with limited equipment, it offers an option for staying active.
Complimentary Wi-Fi and Wired Internet: Both wired and wireless internet access are provided in the rooms, enabling guests to stay connected for work or leisure.
Pet-Friendly Policy: The hotel welcomes pets with specific fees and restrictions (e.g., USD 75 per pet per week, maximum USD 150 per stay, with a deposit of USD 25 per night; two pets maximum, 30 lbs limit per pet). This service is a significant advantage for travelers with furry companions, though some guest comments mention issues with pet waste management on the property.
24-Hour Front Desk: A staffed front desk is available around the clock, providing assistance for check-ins, check-outs, and guest inquiries.
BBQ Grills: Outdoor BBQ grills are available for guest use, offering an alternative for meal preparation and a casual social setting.
Business-Friendly Amenities: Rooms include desks and phones with free local calls, catering to the needs of business travelers. There is also a business center on-site.
While these services are designed to enhance the guest experience, consistency in service delivery, particularly regarding maintenance and cleanliness, has been highlighted in some reviews. Instances of issues like non-working elevators and concerns about water pressure in showers have been noted by guests, indicating that while the services are in place, their consistent functionality can sometimes be an issue.
The core features of Sonesta Simply Suites Philadelphia Mount Laurel are geared towards providing a self-sufficient and comfortable environment, akin to apartment-style living:
All-Suite Accommodations: All 123 accommodations are suites, offering more space than a typical hotel room, including separate living and sleeping areas in some configurations (e.g., One-Bedroom Queen Suite).
In-Room Washer/Dryer (in some units/available via laundry facilities): While some listings indicate in-room washers/dryers, it's more consistently mentioned that laundry facilities are on-site, which is still a major convenience.
Premium Cable Television: Guests have access to premium TV channels for entertainment.
Generous Workspace: Ample desk space is provided in the suites, suitable for work or dining.
Appliance Lending Program: Some Sonesta Simply Suites locations offer an appliance lending program where guests can borrow small appliances like blenders or slow cookers from the front desk, further enhancing the in-room cooking experience (though specific confirmation for this location is recommended).
The key differentiating feature is the full kitchen, which significantly sets it apart from standard hotels, making it appealing for guests who prefer to cook their own meals. The pet-friendly aspect is another strong feature for a specific segment of travelers.
For local users searching "Hotels Near Of Me" with needs for extended stays, business trips, or family travel requiring more than a basic room, Sonesta Simply Suites Philadelphia Mount Laurel presents an option focused on practicality and value.
Promotional messaging from Sonesta often emphasizes "Savings That Hit the Suite Spot," highlighting discounts for stays of 5+ nights (using codes like WEEKLY) and further savings for 7+ nights. They also promote the Sonesta Travel Pass loyalty program, encouraging guests to book directly for the best rates and perks. The pet-friendly policy is a significant promotional point, attracting travelers with animals.
However, it's crucial for prospective guests to consider the mixed reviews. While many praise the friendly staff, spacious rooms, and kitchen amenities, some guests have reported significant issues with cleanliness, maintenance (e.g., broken appliances, lack of water pressure, out-of-order elevators), and pests. These concerns suggest that while the hotel aims to offer a comfortable extended stay, the actual guest experience can be inconsistent.
Therefore, when considering Sonesta Simply Suites Philadelphia Mount Laurel, local users should weigh the benefits of the full kitchen, pet-friendly policy, and potential long-stay discounts against the reported inconsistencies in property condition and cleanliness. It is advisable to contact the hotel directly at (856) 642-7567 or +1 856-642-7567 to confirm specific amenities and address any concerns before booking, especially for longer stays. The hotel's location in Mt. Laurel Township makes it accessible for those seeking accommodation in the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area, particularly for those needing easy access to the local business parks and family attractions.

May 17, 2025 · Jonathan ShaperoVery dirty place. Had roaches. No shower water pressure. The bathroom was nasty. Over all this place doesn't even deserve a one star. And they put us on the third floor. The elevator was out of order. Had to walk up three flights. Took us three tries to get a half decent room that wasn't even decent.

May 16, 2025 · Kayleigh B. (Jerzey#1)Look I read the reviews, I was just staying here for a night, so I didn’t expect much. I might have even gone on here and left 3 stars to go easy on them. But after this experience… no. The location and the staff are decent enough, the sheets were reasonably clean, there’s plenty of parking and… that’s about all the positive comments I can say… First off their elevator was out of order (see picture) and while it says “Temporary out of order” it was out for the entire time I was there and I had a lot of equipment with me. That lead me to the stairs… Phew! Did those smell. Someone spilled tuna all over them. Did the staff bother to clean them? Nope. The room was what it was. The window didn’t really open, many of the fixtures were old and falling apart, as others have mentioned, the toilet didn’t flush all that well, but the bed was decent enough so I’ll give them that. They have an old style noisy heater which made it a little hard to sleep. I eventually just had to turn it off. Before my check out time, I was sleeping (with a do not disturb sign on my door) and the housekeeper knocked on it and asked about check out 🤦🏼♂️ The rest of this is seriously like a Seinfeld episode: I was gonna shower right before I left but realized they didn’t have any shampoo. I called the front desk, they said they send someone up. Fair enough. 15 minutes later, no one is there, I call again and tell them I can’t leave at my checkout time if I can’t shower. To the receptionist’s credit he understood. Finally the housekeeper arrived with a big bottle of shampoo for filling dispensers. The only problem was that this room didn’t have a shampoo dispenser… or ANY dispensers! She was surprised at this so left to go get something else. 10 minutes later, she comes back with a glass of shampoo (see picture). I have to be honest with you, I’ve been in easily 100 hotels in my life and I’ve NEVER seen a glass of shampoo. Honestly it was kind of comical. She told me they were going to send someone to install the dispenser. I said you might as well wait until I leave. 🤷♂️ So shower underway, with the glass of shampoo - and all of a sudden, the fire alarm goes off (and it’s LOUD)! At the moment I’m writing this, Philadelphia is recovering from a plane crash, so I took it seriously. I had to quickly dry off, put my clothes on, my hair was still wet (and it’s winter) get my belongings together and head out. Didn’t smell any smoke, didn’t see any flames, it didn’t seem like the staff was all that worried but I waited in my car for the fire department to come. Once all was clear (didn’t seem like there was a fire) I finally went back, dried my hair and checked to make sure I had everything. Any one of these things I can forgive on its own, but all together? No. This place seriously needs renovation, they need to hire more staff members to keep it clean and maintain it. P.S. I’m sitting in my car writing this, and just as I’m about to hit send, I hear the fire alarm go off AGAIN! 🤦🏼♂️
