For Georgians navigating transitions, embarking on long-term work assignments, or seeking a truly budget-conscious option for an extended visit to Augusta, the concept of an extended stay hotel often comes to mind. The Studio Lodge of Augusta, located at 1052 Claussen Rd, presents itself as such a choice. Designed for guests requiring more than just a fleeting overnight stay, extended stay properties typically offer amenities that cater to a prolonged visit, aiming to provide a sense of home away from home.
The Studio Lodge of Augusta, previously known under different branding (like "Suburban"), falls into the economy extended stay category. This means its primary appeal is its affordability for longer durations, often featuring in-room kitchenettes to allow for self-catering, a key convenience for guests on extended trips. It is positioned as a basic, functional lodging option.
However, it is crucial for prospective guests, especially our fellow Georgians, to approach the Studio Lodge of Augusta with a clear understanding of what recent guest experiences have been like. While the idea of an affordable extended stay is appealing, public reviews paint a stark picture that warrants serious consideration before booking. These experiences include significant concerns about cleanliness, pest control, security, and staff conduct, contrasting sharply with the general expectations of a comfortable stay. It’s important to delve into these details to make an informed decision for your stay in Augusta.
The Studio Lodge of Augusta is located at 1052 Claussen Rd, Augusta, GA 30907, USA. This address places the extended stay hotel in a West Augusta neighborhood, offering a different vibe compared to the historic downtown area. Claussen Road is a fairly accessible artery, connecting to larger roads and making it relatively easy to navigate to and from various parts of Augusta by car.
Its location is generally considered convenient for several key Augusta destinations, particularly those on the western side of the city. For individuals with business at Fort Eisenhower (formerly Fort Gordon), the hotel is relatively close, often appearing as an option for military personnel or contractors. Augusta National Golf Club, home of the Masters Tournament, is also within a reasonable driving distance, making it a budget consideration for visitors during that high-demand week, though its specific distance might vary depending on which gate or entrance you're aiming for.
Other nearby points of interest often cited for properties in this vicinity include:
While the location offers accessibility to various Augusta landmarks and services, a car is generally necessary for efficient travel from this area. Review insights suggest that while the location might be practical for some destinations, the immediate surroundings or perceived safety of the neighborhood by some guests could be a factor in their overall experience.
The Studio Lodge of Augusta, as an extended stay hotel, aims to provide basic services and amenities that cater to guests staying for longer periods, prioritizing functionality and self-sufficiency. However, it's essential to juxtapose the typical offerings with recent guest experiences, as these paint a very different picture of actual service delivery.
Based on general extended stay hotel models and available public information (often from booking sites), the following services are typically associated with this property:
Critical Note on Actual Service Delivery (Based on Reviews): The provided customer reviews severely contradict the positive impression of these services. Guests explicitly reported:
Therefore, while the Studio Lodge of Augusta advertises typical extended stay services, prospective guests must be fully aware that actual delivery and quality of these services appear to be severely compromised, according to recent public feedback.
When discussing the features and highlights of the Studio Lodge of Augusta, it's crucial to present information that reflects both the advertised intentions of an extended stay property and the stark realities conveyed by recent customer reviews.
Advertised/Intended Features & Highlights (Based on Extended Stay Model):
Critical "Highlights" (Based on Damaging Customer Reviews):
It is imperative to address the severe negative highlights reported by recent guests, as these fundamentally impact the overall experience:
Given these severe and repeated negative accounts, any potential highlights based on the intended extended stay model are heavily overshadowed by the reported real-world conditions and alleged conduct. For Georgians considering this property, these critical "highlights" from actual experiences are paramount to understand.
Extended stay hotels like Studio Lodge of Augusta primarily differentiate themselves through their pricing structure, offering more competitive rates for longer durations compared to standard nightly hotel stays. However, due to the highly negative nature of the provided customer reviews, it is difficult to confidently suggest that typical promotions or special offers would genuinely enhance the value proposition for prospective guests.
Generally, properties catering to extended stays, including those under various economy brands, might offer the following types of pricing or "promotions":
Crucial Caveat for Promotions: While these types of pricing structures are typical, the severe issues detailed in the reviews (roaches, bed bugs, broken doors, cleanliness problems, and serious allegations of theft and racism) mean that any financial saving from a "promotion" would likely be negated by a profoundly unsatisfactory and potentially unsafe experience. For Georgians considering an extended stay, the primary "offer" should be a reliable, clean, and secure environment, which, based on the provided information, appears to be severely lacking at the Studio Lodge of Augusta. Therefore, focusing on "promotions" in this context feels inappropriate given the fundamental concerns about habitability and safety.
For direct inquiries regarding availability, pricing for extended stays, or to attempt to clarify any concerns based on widely available public reviews, you can contact the Studio Lodge of Augusta using the following information:

Mobile Phone: +1 706-737-5550
Given the serious nature of the customer feedback, it is strongly recommended that any prospective guest contact the hotel directly to ask specific questions about their current pest control measures, room security, and cleanliness protocols. Requesting to see a room before committing to an extended stay, if possible, would also be a prudent step.
For Georgians seeking a place to stay, the decision of where to lodge, especially for an extended period, involves balancing cost, convenience, and quality. While the Studio Lodge of Augusta presents itself as an extended stay option, based on the overwhelming and disturbing customer reviews, it is with considerable reservation that one could deem it "suitable" for locals or any traveler.
The core suitability of an extended stay hotel for locals typically lies in providing a convenient, affordable, and functional temporary home during life transitions, work assignments, or periods of personal need (e.g., home renovations, temporary displacement). Ideally, such a place would offer kitchenettes for self-catering, laundry facilities, and a secure environment, allowing individuals and families to maintain some semblance of routine and comfort.
However, the reality presented by the public reviews for the Studio Lodge of Augusta severely undermines these typical benefits. Reports of rampant roaches and bed bugs, "nasty" and "dirty" rooms, and fundamental security breaches (broken and unlocked doors/windows) mean that the very basic standards of habitability are not being met. Furthermore, serious allegations of employee theft and racial discrimination create an environment that is not only uncomfortable but potentially unsafe and hostile.
While its location on Claussen Rd offers relative proximity to Fort Eisenhower and other areas of West Augusta, and its pricing might appear attractive during high-demand times like the Masters, the severe health, safety, and cleanliness concerns far outweigh any potential cost savings. For any Georgian, a safe, clean, and secure environment is a non-negotiable basic right when paying for accommodation. The emotional and practical burden of dealing with pest infestations, insecure rooms, and alleged staff misconduct would far surpass any monetary saving.
Therefore, in good conscience, it is difficult to recommend the Studio Lodge of Augusta as a suitable option for locals. While affordability is important, it should not come at the expense of dignity, health, and security. Fellow Georgians would be well-advised to prioritize their well-being and seek alternative extended stay options in Augusta that can genuinely provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment, even if it means a slightly higher cost. The experiences shared by previous guests indicate that staying here would be a significant detriment rather than a solution for an extended stay need.

Jun 14, 2025 · Melissa OwenI stayed here off and on when it was the suburban. It was okay. The new prices and prospect of a place to stay during masters for shelter deprived people was promising. Unfortunately, the roaches and bed bugs are rampant. The doors and windows for most of the rooms have been breached or broken into and some rooms don't even properly lock. And did I mention roaches? Good lord it's an epidemic. The spark next door hopefully will make them up their standards but I see this shit hole consuming the Hilton expansion after a year. Nasty rooms, man. I need to put all my stuff in my car and fumigate after I checkout tomorrow, also, the laundry on-site sucks.
Sep 10, 2024 · Evelyn SuttonI am a disabled veteran who has stayed here long-term, but haven't had room service for over two weeks. I had to wash the hotel towels myself. There are bed bugs they haven't treated or taken care of in over a month, making it very difficult to sleep. If anyone from the health department can come by, please do. If I could move on my own, I would.
