When I stayed here I was immediately offended by the external appearance, homeless ppl and drugs everywhere in the parking lot. I get to my room, there’s no lock on the door at all, literally no need for a key…and you can see shoe prints on the door where it’s been kicked in before. There were no pillows; no blankets, no sheets. Dead roaches all over the floor and sink countertop. There was no television, but there was a remote. Mold all in the bathroom, and a soiled toilet that had also not been flushed. I went back to the front desk and asked for a refund and was refused. I had to get corporate to give me a refund. Avoid this hotel even if you have nowhere else to go.

This address places it directly along the Black Canyon Highway (I-17), a major north-south artery running through the heart of Phoenix. For locals, this location offers immediate freeway access, which can be convenient for navigating to various parts of the city quickly. Its proximity to the interstate means it's relatively easy to get to from many Phoenix neighborhoods, whether you're coming from the north Valley, central Phoenix, or even areas to the south.
Being on a major highway often implies a certain level of accessibility to commercial areas. Typically, hotels in such locations are near gas stations, fast-food establishments, and sometimes larger retail centers, providing convenience for travelers on the go. For Arizonans needing a quick stopover or a base with easy vehicular access to different parts of the metropolitan area, the geographical placement of this Super 8 could, on paper, seem advantageous for travel efficiency.
However, it's also important for local users to consider that locations directly adjacent to major highways can sometimes be subject to varying environments, and public feedback suggests that the immediate external surroundings of this particular property may present challenges. While the address itself points to high accessibility, the perceived safety and atmosphere of the parking lot and surrounding area, as described in public reviews, are factors to carefully weigh when considering this location for your stay.
Based on the standard offerings of Super 8 by Wyndham hotels, properties typically aim to provide essential amenities for a budget-friendly stay. It is important to note that while these are general services provided by the Super 8 brand, the user reviews for this specific Phoenix Metro North location indicate significant issues with basic room provisions (like no pillows, blankets, or sheets) and overall cleanliness, suggesting that even standard expectations for services may not be consistently met. Therefore, any consideration of services should be tempered by the direct feedback from previous guests.

Therefore, we cannot list features or highlights in a promotional sense. Instead, we must acknowledge the key points of concern raised by guests, which serve as critical "features" in understanding the property's current state from a user's perspective:
It is evident from these accounts that the "features" of this particular Super 8 location, according to recent guests, are predominantly negative and pertain to fundamental aspects of safety, security, and hygiene. This factual representation is vital for any potential guest to consider.
While Super 8 by Wyndham, as a brand, typically participates in various promotions and offers, it is crucial to approach any potential bookings for the Super 8 by Wyndham Phoenix Metro North with caution, given the severe negative feedback from recent guests. Generally, Super 8 offers might include:
However, given the grave concerns highlighted in customer reviews regarding basic safety, cleanliness, and room conditions, it is strongly advised that potential guests prioritize reviewing recent guest experiences over seeking promotional discounts. As Arizonans, we are always looking for suitable lodging options within our home state, whether for necessity or convenience. However, based on the overwhelming and severe public reviews, it is exceptionally difficult to recommend the Super 8 by Wyndham Phoenix Metro North as "suitable" for locals or indeed any traveler, under its currently reported conditions. The feedback paints a picture of a property that falls drastically short of basic expectations for safety, security, and hygiene, which are fundamental requirements for any accommodation.
The reported issues, including but not limited to, the presence of homeless individuals and drug activity in the parking lot, severe room security breaches (e.g., non-functioning door locks, evidence of forced entry), a complete lack of basic amenities like bedding, and widespread unsanitary conditions (e.g., dead roaches, mold, soiled toilets), make it unequivocally clear that this hotel, as described by recent guests, does not meet acceptable standards. Furthermore, the alleged refusal of a refund by the front desk for a room in such a state indicates potential issues with customer service resolution at the local level.
While the location on Black Canyon Highway offers high accessibility, this convenience is severely undermined by the reported dangers and deplorable conditions within the property itself. For any Arizonan seeking a temporary stay, whether for business, family, or personal reasons, safety and a clean, comfortable environment should be non-negotiable. The public reviews suggest that these fundamental aspects are currently compromised at the Super 8 by Wyndham Phoenix Metro North.

While we strive to be factual and professional, we also prioritize the well-being of our community. The current public data strongly advises against considering this hotel as a suitable option until significant and verifiable improvements are made to address the critical issues raised by previous guests.

May 20, 2025 · Christopher PresleyPlace was dirty and full of sketchy people in the parking lot. Very scary area. Room was gross and barely cleaned. First room we got was a smoking room and had brown handprint on the bathroom wall. They charged us $20 a night extra for a non-smoking room, which was also dirty. Couldn't walk barefoot or my feet would be black. Door lock only locked if you put it in the right position. Better get to your room before nightfall or you'll probably get murdered.
Mar 27, 2025 · Syd BAbsolutely the worst place I've ever went to. Didnt even stay. I took the loss and slept in my car! Rooms were dirty, floors where covered in debris. The tub in my bathroom couldn't be turned off, it just ran... The pool smelled like legionaries disease. The beds were covered in hair and filth, sheets hadn't been changed. Will never return unless I get hired onto the destruction crew for when the city inevitably shuts it down. Place needs to be condemned.
Mar 14, 2023 · Kashmir The OwlThe conditions in both rooms and circumstances were deplorable. I don’t believe that having to ask for a bathroom door, nor being told there would be a TV and a hairdryer that were unavailable are acceptable under any circumstances. The toilet was movable,😬 and had black matter coming out from underneath, the shower curtain was barely attached to the wall as well as the curtains, The odor in the room was terrible. 🤢 Having a door installed on the bathroom that was 4 inches too big by a security guard who was packing a gun and told me we were not in a safe neighborhood was extremely disturbing. As was having someone else’s bags in the room and knowing they had a key..
Feb 20, 2023 · Jaleene JarvisWe stayed here one night and only because it was to late to book a room somewhere else. The air conditioning was good and cold which was the only nice thing. A bunch of people were hanging out on the stairs talking about the "popo" making us feel very uncomfortable. The doors safety chain lock had been busted on our hotel room. The comforters had cigarette burns. The floor had a suspicious yellow puddle in the middle of it. We assume it was because it rained earlier and the roof had a leak...at least we hoped. There was a bathroom mat and two hand towels in the bathroom and that's all. The tub was worn through the plastic so you could see the bottom of the tub. Overall did not feel safe or clean.
