Manager was very accommodating to my request for a first floor room so that I could bring my bicycle into the room. However, I suspect the room had not been rented because the heat and A/C were not working. It was not cold and my portable fan kept me comfortable enough. The big thing is that I appear to have been bitten by bed bugs. I had been at a NYC hotel with no problems while there, so I have concluded that it must have been this Super 8. However, I am not 100% certain, more like about 95% certain. At the end of the day, I got what I paid for.

Super 8 by Wyndham Stamford/New York City Area Introduce

For individuals in Stamford, Connecticut, and those utilizing platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me" to find budget-friendly accommodation options, the Super 8 by Wyndham Stamford/New York City Area may appear as a relevant choice. Located at 32 Grenhart Rd, Stamford, CT 06902, USA, and accessible via phone at (203) 653-8137 or mobile at +1 203-653-8137, this hotel operates under the Super 8 brand, known for providing economical lodging solutions, often catering to travelers seeking affordability over extensive amenities.

The "Hotels Near Of Me" category is specifically designed to connect local users with services or goods for sale that are geographically convenient. In this context, the Super 8 by Wyndham Stamford/New York City Area would be presented as an option for those requiring overnight stays in the Stamford area, particularly if their priority is cost-effectiveness and proximity to local points of interest or major transportation routes. The platform's utility is to offer accessible choices, making the hotel's presence in Stamford a key factor for individuals seeking immediate and affordable lodging.

From an environmental perspective, the hotel's location at 32 Grenhart Rd in Stamford suggests it might be situated in a more suburban or commercially developed area, potentially near roadways that offer convenient access. As a budget hotel near the "New York City Area," it might attract travelers looking for a more affordable base outside the higher costs of direct NYC accommodations while still offering reasonable commuting options. However, concerning the internal environment of the hotel, customer reviews indicate significant issues. One guest "suspect the room had not been rented" due to non-functional heat and A/C, which, while not leading to discomfort in that specific instance due to external temperature, points to a lack of readiness in the room environment. A more severe environmental concern is the strong suspicion of "bed bugs," with a guest being "95% certain" they were bitten at this Super 8 after having no issues elsewhere. This issue, if confirmed, fundamentally compromises the cleanliness and safety of the internal environment, creating a highly undesirable and potentially unhealthy stay. Another critical environmental failure was the complete lack of cold water in the shower, providing "nothing but scalding hot water," making a basic amenity unusable. This directly impacts personal hygiene and comfort, indicating a significant breakdown in the expected operational environment of a hotel room.

In terms of services, a basic expectation for any hotel includes a functional front desk, working room amenities, and responsiveness to guest issues. Customer feedback highlights severe deficiencies in these areas. One guest reported that the "phone non functional," making it impossible to contact the front desk from their room. Upon going downstairs, "no one there" at 5:30 AM to assist with the shower issue or check-out, forcing the guest to leave a note. This indicates a profound lack of availability and responsiveness from hotel staff, which is a critical service failure. The frustration of being unable to shower before a work function due to the scalding water, and the inability to resolve the issue with staff, underscores a significant lapse in basic guest services. Furthermore, attempting to contact the hotel later resulted in reaching an "AI dude in another country who would ONLY book rooms," demonstrating a reliance on automated systems that fail to address existing guest issues or provide comprehensive customer support. While the manager was "very accommodating" to a specific request for a first-floor room for a bicycle, this positive interaction is overshadowed by the widespread service failures regarding critical room functionalities and staff availability.

Regarding features, Super 8 properties typically offer fundamental features such as a bed, a private bathroom, and sometimes a mini-fridge or coffee maker. In this specific Super 8, the heat and A/C were found to be non-working in one instance. The refrigerator was "non functional" in another room. The in-room phone was also non-functional, hindering communication with the front desk. While the presence of a shower is a standard feature, its inability to provide cold water renders it unusable. These issues point to a significant breakdown in the expected functionality of basic room features. The hotel aims to provide a place to sleep, but the reported bed bug issue directly undermines the core function of a comfortable and clean bed. The lack of a manned front desk during early morning hours also impacts the functional accessibility of hotel services, effectively leaving guests without immediate support. The statement "At the end of the day, I got what I paid for" from one customer implies that for a budget hotel, a certain level of compromise on quality is expected, but the severity of the issues reported (bed bugs, no cold water, no staff) goes beyond simple budget expectations.

Promotional information for Super 8 by Wyndham typically emphasizes affordability, convenience, and essential amenities for a comfortable stay. They often highlight free Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast (though not mentioned in these reviews), and a clean room. The brand aims to attract budget-conscious travelers. However, the customer reviews for this specific Super 8 in Stamford present a stark contrast to typical promotional messaging. The severe issues of suspected bed bugs, non-functional heating/cooling, broken refrigerators, non-working in-room phones, and critically, showers with only scalding hot water, directly contradict any claims of comfort or essential functionality. The reported lack of available staff to address these issues further undermines the perception of reliable service. While promotional materials might draw guests in with low prices or convenient location, the actual guest experiences documented here strongly suggest that the hotel struggles to maintain basic operational standards that guests would expect, even from a budget chain. The plea from a customer to "fix your stuff" and their decision to "downgrade my review" due to poor customer service from an AI system, highlights that the current state of affairs is far from satisfactory, regardless of the price point. Therefore, while it fits the "Hotels Near Of Me" category for its location and potential affordability, potential guests should be fully aware of the significant and fundamental issues reported before booking.

Recently I stayed here and it was OK, so I told them I would give them return business. Last night I stayed there again, but this time with a unique, un-resolved issue. No cold water in the shower. Nothing but scalding hot water. I tried every combination of temp adjust, nothing, all hot. Tried calling the front desk but phone [as well as refrigerator] non functional. Went downstairs no one there. At 530 AM no attendant to take my check-out key, or discuss the issue. I had to jump on the counter to get a pen and leave them a note that i had checked out and left the card. I had to arrive at a work function the next morning at 6 AM completely un-showered. The water was just too hot. Please, don't do this kind of shit to people, fix your stuff. Sorry guys, now I have to downgrade my review because when I called today I got some AI dude in another country who would ONLY book rooms. Look, this is a good hotel. Clean it up.

Place is absolutely disgusting. Full of low lives. Walking in the parking lot a guy was enjoying some marijuana right out in the open. Checking in was a joke. Guy behind the counter said “just leave the key in the room when you leave” that’s fine and everything but comes off as just get in and get out. Like he’s used to people leaving in a hurry. Place I’d assume was never renovated since 1999. Everything is chipped wood and crummy looking. Smelt horrible. The only nice thing was surprisingly the bed. It was comfortable for what I wasn’t expecting. Gross though and I just had to ignore it. The tv was a joke. The remote didn’t work to turn it on. Finally the side button got it going…and I ended up turning it off because the show I was watching kept having a delay to the picture. Lastly, I checked out after an hour of sleep because my neighbors decided to have passionate romance while blasting music. So at 2am….i had it and left. Place is a waste of money, time, and brain cells. Besides another place that was worse. 2nd worst hotel I’ve ever been to. Don’t go unless you’re desperate. 1 out of 5 stars….if I could I’d leave 0!

Super 8 should be renamed to super disgusting. The entire hotel reeks of cigarettes, dirt, and possibly mold. When I was checking in, the guy at the counter seemed annoyed. I rode the elevator to the 4th floor and was pretty sure it was going to break down. The room was miserable looking. The bed spread was ripped, and the carpet had stains. I didn't last 5 minutes. I checked out immediately. Iaccidentally booked a room here online based on the location. I will never make that mistake again.

You could smell Marijuana throughout the hallway. The rooms were not good at all, cleanliness was ok, but not worth the price to stay. The bed comforter has a cigarette burn hole and the bathroom door was broken you could see through, the entrance door was put together with wood screws to hold it. The breakfast was limited to cereal, bread, milk, apple juice, orange juice, coffee, yogurt and condiments like butter and jelly.
