I just needed a decent, clean room to stay the night in Brooklyn for a songwriting/music trip for 24 hrs. This hotel fit the bill for me. Not expensive & a clean, comfortable room. Would recommend though the neighborhood could make some feel a little insecure. I'm used to that gritty feel of cities like Oakland, Philly & Baltimore. I had no issues at all.
For individuals utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform to find immediate accommodation options, Surface Inn Brooklyn may appear as a choice within the diverse borough of Brooklyn, New York. Located at 120 Osborn St, Brooklyn, NY 11212, USA, this hotel positions itself as an option for travelers seeking a place to stay in the area. Guests can contact the hotel directly at (347) 529-7473 or via mobile at +1 347-529-7473. Understanding the objective realities of a stay at Surface Inn Brooklyn is essential, especially when relying on a platform that prioritizes proximity and immediate availability.
The "Hotels Near Of Me" category inherently highlights geographical convenience. Surface Inn Brooklyn's address on Osborn Street places it within an urban setting in Brooklyn. The environment of the immediate neighborhood is a significant point of consideration for potential guests, as highlighted in customer reviews. One reviewer, accustomed to "gritty feel of cities like Oakland, Philly & Baltimore," stated that "the neighborhood could make some feel a little insecure," though they personally "had no issues at all." This suggests that the area may present a certain urban character that might not appeal to all travelers, particularly those unfamiliar with dense city environments. The specific details of the surrounding area, such as noise levels, general cleanliness of public spaces, or availability of nearby amenities, would contribute to a guest's overall perception of the environment. While the hotel provides a physical presence in Brooklyn, the external surroundings are a critical aspect of the overall experience.
In terms of services, hotels typically offer a range of amenities designed to facilitate a comfortable stay. However, the available customer reviews for Surface Inn Brooklyn raise significant concerns regarding fundamental service delivery. A particularly distressing account details a lack of basic amenities like "pillows and only 1 roll of toilet paper" upon arrival at night. More critically, when requested from the front desk, the guest was "told no" with an "attitude." A subsequent request in the morning to a different receptionist was met with confusion and the information that "no one available in house keeping" and to "come back in the evening." This suggests a severe deficiency in providing essential services and a lack of responsiveness from staff. Timeliness of housekeeping and the availability of basic necessities are fundamental expectations for any hotel, and the reported issues at Surface Inn Brooklyn are a significant drawback. Such service failures would be a major concern for users of a "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, who often rely on the immediate availability and reliability of basic comforts.
The features of the rooms at Surface Inn Brooklyn are described in contrasting terms within the provided reviews. One positive review stated the room was "decent, clean room" and "comfortable," fulfilling the need for a short overnight stay. This indicates that at least some rooms can meet basic standards of cleanliness and comfort. However, another review directly contradicts this experience by highlighting a critical failure: "there was NO HOT WATER!" The absence of hot water is a fundamental amenity that impacts a guest's ability to shower and maintain personal hygiene, leading to a highly unsatisfactory stay. While one guest found the room "clean," the complete lack of hot water points to a severe operational issue that overrides other positive aspects of room presentation. The discrepancy in experiences suggests inconsistency in room quality or maintenance across the property. For guests searching via "Hotels Near Of Me," such variability in crucial features can lead to unpredictable and potentially very poor experiences.
Promotional information for Surface Inn Brooklyn, while not explicitly provided in the given text, would typically aim to attract guests by highlighting its location and competitive pricing. The positive review mentions the hotel was "not expensive," suggesting that affordability might be a key promotional point. Hotels in the "budget" category often emphasize their value proposition for travelers seeking economical options. However, any promotional claims about comfort or convenience would need to be carefully weighed against the severe negative feedback regarding service and essential amenities like hot water. Without specific promotional details, it's difficult to elaborate on this aspect further, beyond recognizing that hotels use affordability and basic amenities to attract guests. For platforms like "Hotels Near Of Me," a low price point can be a significant draw, but it must be balanced with the expectation of fundamental services and features.
In conclusion, when considering Surface Inn Brooklyn through the lens of "Hotels Near Of Me," potential guests should be aware of a mixed bag of experiences based on the available customer reviews. While one guest found the room to be "clean" and "comfortable" and appreciated the affordability for a short stay, the hotel appears to suffer from significant inconsistencies in service delivery and essential room features. The severe reported issues, such as the unavailability of basic necessities like pillows and toilet paper, the unhelpful front desk attitude, and crucially, the complete absence of hot water, paint a concerning picture. The neighborhood's "gritty feel" might also be a factor for some. The strong advice to "AVOID BOOKING THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS" from a dissatisfied customer underscores the potential for a very negative experience. Therefore, while its presence on "Hotels Near Of Me" implies accessibility and a potential budget option, travelers are strongly advised to consider these critical drawbacks and manage their expectations accordingly, prioritizing their non-negotiable requirements before booking.

Dec 18, 2022 · DC ANever. Again. We arrived between 9:30/10:00 pm on a Friday night. We had no pillows and only 1 roll of toilet paper. I went to the front desk to ask for pillows and more toilet paper and was told no. Just like that. I did not want to deal with the attitude so I figured I would ask in the morning. Thankfully there was a new receptionist. I made the same request and the guy looked at me confused and told me there is no 1 available in house keeping and to come back in the evening. (It was about 8 in the morning. Shouldn't housekeeping be in between rooms cleaning....) Can't forget to mention, there was NO HOT WATER! AVOID BOOKING THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS.
Jun 14, 2022 · Jessica JonesI didn’t stay here. I walked in my room and immediately walked out. The entire hotel smelled like cigarettes. Per policy, you have 20 minutes to receive a refund after checkin. When I walked back downstairs, the receptionist was nowhere to be found. It’s how they scam you. The best part- the receptionist made me call Hotels.com to receive my refund and lied about their phone number for Hotels.com to reach them. While trying to get a refund on my room, I watched a man literally smoke a cigarette in the LOBBY of this “non smoking hotel”. I rarely write reviews, but this place was atrocious. Everyone that works here are rude and malicious. Do NOT book a room here.
Jan 02, 2022 · Malorie JonesMy experience a this place was okay. My friend and I came from a roadtrip so our standard was very low and we were happy with any place to stay basically. The price was okay for what we got. Pos: room was spacious, bed was comfy, bathroom was not to bad - everything you need for one night. Neg: the receptionist was not very helpful with any questions we asked. Also, when you walk in there's only notes and signs about which things you'd get fined for and what is not allowed.. not very welcoming. The walls are very thin and we got woken up by the very noisy cleaning staff or whatever was going on in the hallway. Considering that this was (even though we paid 100$ for the night) the cheapest option in NYC it was alright.
Sep 30, 2022 · Julia W.TOO MUCH ROACHES. Before coming here i haven’t seen a roach in 3 years so seeing multiple roaches for the first time in that long frustrates and terrified me. I am completely scared of bugs. Every time i turn around there’s different roaches everywhere in the room. I called the front desk to see if they had bug spray they said no but they can change my room. I accepted the offer to change my room and still no difference. There was roaches everywhere in the next room. I had to Gopuff roach spray to spray around everywhere in my room at 1AM. I even stayed up the whole night making sure no roaches were going into my bags or suitcases even though there wasn’t any food in there. Yea i Nobody should be paying $100 for a hotel that’s infested with roaches
