Everything was fine. Its within a walk to the boardwalk and beach. Housekeeping always made sure you had what you need. During peak season, expect to pay. Room was pretty ghetto. It leaked from the roof on our last day and we were told just put a bucket. We were charged $45 misc fee. Was told its for muffins and coffee. However when booking was told complimentary breakfast. After reading multiple reviews, i think we were charged for parking, we came by train and was picked up by a relative. Never parked. Stop and shop muffin tray with Folgers coffee seem a bit taxing for $45 a room. Overall no complaints besides the shady business and hidden fees. Fine its $45. Ill probably stay at the pelican nextdoor next season. We never had problems there.
The Amethyst Beach Motel, located at 202 Arnold Ave, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742, USA, offers a distinctive lodging experience for visitors to the Jersey Shore. Falling under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, this motel provides a blend of classic, old-school charm with a highly desirable location, making it a popular choice for those looking to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Point Pleasant Beach. Its accessibility to the boardwalk, beach, and local amenities is a significant draw for guests.
The environment of The Amethyst Beach Motel is characterized by its traditional motel structure and a friendly, family-run feel. It's not a modern, high-rise hotel, but rather a classic establishment that aims to provide a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Guests often describe it as a "nice surprise" due to its old-school charm and the presence of attentive owners and staff. The property features an outdoor pool, which is a central hub for relaxation during the warmer months, complete with sun loungers and often offering complimentary ice water. The motel has a pleasant patio area, and some rooms even offer private patios. While some aspects of the property may show their age, with mentions of "shabby" exteriors or "outdated" elements in some reviews, there is also ongoing renovation to address these concerns, aiming to improve the overall guest experience.
A key aspect of The Amethyst Beach Motel's appeal is its prime location. It is strategically positioned just a mere two blocks from the beautiful Point Pleasant Beach and the iconic Jenkinson's Boardwalk, making it incredibly convenient for guests to access the beach, amusement park rides, Jenkinson's Aquarium, and various boardwalk eateries and shops. In the opposite direction, guests are within easy walking distance of downtown shopping, coffee shops, and mass transit options, including the NJ Transit train station. This excellent walkability means that many guests do not need to worry about parking once they arrive, which is a significant advantage in a popular beach town.
The services at The Amethyst Beach Motel are geared towards providing a comfortable and accommodating stay. The staff, including the owners, are consistently praised in reviews for being super nice, very accommodating, and helpful, often going out of their way to assist guests. Housekeeping services are provided daily, ensuring that rooms are kept clean and that guests have what they need in terms of supplies. While some reviews mention issues with room cleanliness upon arrival or an absence of amenities like coffee pots in rooms during off-season, the general sentiment is that the staff are responsive to requests and work to resolve any issues.
Features of the motel vary across its 40 guestrooms and suites, which are arranged over two floors and across three buildings. Room types include king and queen rooms, which typically offer modern comforts such as small refrigerators, microwaves, and televisions. For those seeking more space, the motel also provides one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments that come with a full kitchen, living room, and dining room, making them ideal for families or longer stays. There is also a fully furnished beach house available for those desiring more privacy. In-room WiFi is available, though some sources indicate it might be subject to a surcharge. Other amenities include air conditioning, premium bedding, and bathrooms with shower/tub combinations. For guest convenience, barbecue grills and utensils are available in a spacious picnic area, allowing guests to save on dining expenses.
An outdoor pool is a prominent feature, often heated, providing a refreshing escape from the summer heat. The pool area is described as lovely and well-maintained. For business travelers, a meeting room may be available. The motel also has vending machines and a coffee shop/cafe. While there were mentions of "complimentary breakfast" during booking, some guests have expressed confusion or dissatisfaction regarding a $45 "misc fee" which was attributed to "muffins and coffee" (a Stop and Shop muffin tray with Folgers coffee, as per one review). Official sources clarify a "Resort Fee" of $15.00 per day, per room, which is optional to guests and includes internet access, use of the patio pool, and coffee/light pastry. This fee structure appears to be a point of contention for some guests, leading to perceptions of "shady business" or "hidden fees" if not clearly communicated upfront. It's advisable for potential guests to clarify all fees at the time of booking to avoid surprises.
Promotional information highlights the motel's dedication to making guests "feel like family" and its efforts to provide a "wonderfully affordable experience." The Amethyst Beach Motel often offers special room packages and discounts, making it an attractive option for various budgets, especially during peak season when prices are expected to be higher. The motel emphasizes its proximity to attractions like Jenkinson's Boardwalk, Jenkinson's Aquarium, and Jenkinson's South Amusement Park, all within a short walk. It also promotes its short distance to downtown Point Pleasant Beach with its shopping and dining. The property's mission is to accommodate every customer and provide a level of satisfaction that exceeds expectations. Reviews from repeat guests attest to its value, location, and the friendly nature of the staff.
While the motel generally receives positive feedback for its location and staff, potential guests should be aware of some concerns raised in reviews. These include occasional reports of outdated facilities, issues with room conditions such as leaks or lack of blankets, and the aforementioned confusion surrounding the "misc" or "resort" fees. The motel does accept credit cards, debit cards, mobile payments (Google Pay and Apple Pay), and cash. On-site parking is available, but it is often secured, uncovered self-parking with a surcharge (around $20 per day) and a one-car limit per room; free offsite parking and street parking may also be available. Pets are generally not allowed at the motel. Despite some of these minor drawbacks, the overall consensus from many guests is that the Amethyst Beach Motel offers a good value, particularly given its unbeatable location for a classic beach vacation experience in Point Pleasant Beach.

Jul 20, 2024 · Kevin YouThis was such a nice surprise! A classic small hotel with old-school charm. The owners were present and both they and the staff were super nice, very accommodating and helpful. On another note, the location was a mere two blocks from the beach in one direction, and from shopping, coffee shops, and mass transit in the other. We've never been to this beach before, but we'll definitely be back again and will stay here whenever we come back.
Oct 07, 2024 · Joe BWanWe stayed Sunday through Tuesday. I got a call from the hotel Sunday afternoon, saying that if we were ok with changing rooms, we could check in early, which was nice and we took advantage of that. The room and the bathroom were clean. The pool and patio were very clean as well. The walkways on the second floor were a little concerning; there were rubber mats thrown down, which made it easy to trip over, especially after the heavy rain we had one night. My only real issue is the $66 "Misc." fee I saw on my bill after checking in. When I asked what that was, I was told it was for parking, breakfast and a third charge which I didn't catch. I did not receive any communication from the hotel or the booking website before-hand that this amount would be charged. I did go back and look at the website I used when I booked the room, and had to go to a link that said "Travelers are asking" in order to see a blurb about the parking fee; however, I feel like this information should be more prominent on the website. I found nothing about a charge for the continental breakfast, which consisted of coffee and a tray of muffins that had been cut into quarters. If I had seen these charges when looking for a place to stay, I may have kept looking, which is probably why they aren't prominently displayed on the hotel website. So the hotel was fine, just be sure you know about all additional charges ahead of time.
Jun 28, 2024 · Judy JaegerWe had reserved 2 rooms for 6 people, we got upgraded to their 3 bed 2 bath house at no extra cost. That was very nice of them. Location is great. Condition/ decor is what you would expect, same as the other older motels in this area. Place was clean. Very satisfied. No complaints.
