This hotel was a major disappointment and nowhere near what was advertised. The photos online are completely misleading. While room service does come daily, it’s clear there’s no deep cleaning happening. Things may appear tidy at first glance, but the reality is far from clean. The hallways were grimy and smelled stale. Our room had stained linens, sticky spots on the floor, and a fridge that was filthy. It was obvious nothing had been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. To make matters worse, we noticed bites on us during the stay and initially assumed they were from being outdoors. After reading other reviews mentioning bed bugs, I’m now extremely concerned that’s what they were. I haven’t unpacked yet and honestly, I’m scared to. That alone is unacceptable and incredibly stressful. The staff couldn’t give clear answers about fees or charges. I was told breakfast was free, but money was taken from my deposit even though we didn’t use it. No explanation, no accountability. This property is not well-maintained, not accurately represented, and not worth the risk or cost. I absolutely do not recommend staying here.
For local users in Atlanta searching within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, The Brookhaven Atlanta Hotel presents itself as an option situated at 2061 N Druid Hills Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30329, USA. This hotel aims to provide accommodations with a focus on convenience and a range of amenities, particularly appealing to those visiting Emory University, the CDC, and various attractions within the Brookhaven and wider Atlanta areas. While online photographs may present a certain image, an objective review of guest experiences provides a more comprehensive understanding of what to expect.
The Brookhaven Atlanta Hotel is strategically located off I-85 on North Druid Hills Road, offering relatively easy access to several key Atlanta destinations. Its proximity to Emory University, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and Oglethorpe University makes it a practical choice for visitors to these institutions. Furthermore, it's situated between the Lindbergh and Brookhaven MARTA stations, providing public transportation options to areas like Midtown, Buckhead, Lenox Mall, Phipps Plaza, Downtown, the Georgia World Congress Center, and popular attractions such as the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola. This central location is a significant advantage for guests looking to explore the city.
The hotel itself is a multi-story property (9 floors with 209 rooms, built in 1970). While some guests describe the exterior and even initial impressions as pleasant or "very clean," others report a stark contrast upon closer inspection. Descriptions of "grimy hallways" and a "stale" smell, along with concerns about the general upkeep, indicate that the appearance and actual cleanliness can be inconsistent. The immediate surroundings on N Druid Hills Rd NE are characterized by a mix of commercial establishments and road traffic, which some guests noted can contribute to noise levels. Despite mixed reviews on the interior environment, the external location offers a practical base for navigating Atlanta's northern suburbs and beyond.
The hotel offers a range of services designed to cater to its guests, though the execution and consistency of these services appear to vary based on customer feedback. Key services generally available include:
24-Hour Front Desk: The hotel provides a 24-hour reception, facilitating late check-ins and assistance at any time. Staff are sometimes described as courteous and helpful, particularly at check-in, though other reviews mention issues with clarity regarding charges or unhelpful responses.
Complimentary Wi-Fi: Free Wi-Fi is available in both public areas and guest rooms (with a speed of 25+ Mbps), which is a standard and essential amenity for most travelers.
Free Parking: The hotel offers complimentary self-parking on site, which is a valuable perk in Atlanta. Accessible parking spaces are also available.
Daily Housekeeping: While advertised, the effectiveness of daily housekeeping has been a point of contention in reviews. Some guests report that while rooms may appear tidy, they lack a "deep cleaning," with issues like stained linens, sticky floors, and dirty refrigerators noted. Other positive reviews specifically highlight "very clean" rooms.
Complimentary Breakfast: The hotel advertises a free continental breakfast, typically served from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM on weekdays and 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM on weekends. However, there are conflicting reports from guests regarding whether breakfast is truly free or if charges/gratuities are applied without clear explanation, leading to unexpected deductions from deposits.
Pet-Friendly Policy: The hotel is pet-friendly, allowing pets for an extra charge (typically USD 75 per accommodation, per day). Service animals are exempt from fees.
Luggage Storage & ATM: Basic conveniences like luggage storage and an on-site ATM are available.
The disparity in guest reviews regarding services, particularly cleanliness and clarity on charges, suggests that individual experiences can vary significantly. While some guests found the staff to be pleasant and the services acceptable, others encountered difficulties or unmet expectations.
The Brookhaven Atlanta Hotel provides a selection of features designed to enhance a guest's stay, fitting within a mid-range offering. These include:
Guest Rooms: Rooms are equipped with essential conveniences such as microwaves, mini-refrigerators, and coffee/tea makers. A 55-inch flat-screen TV with premium channels is also provided. Guests have noted room sizes as spacious, though some reviews highlight issues with maintenance, such as non-working outlets, rust/mold in bathrooms, and a strange odor. Premium bedding and blackout drapes are generally included.
Seasonal Outdoor Pool: The hotel features a seasonal outdoor pool, typically open from May to September. This provides a recreational option during warmer months.
24-Hour Fitness Center: A fitness center with exercise bicycles and treadmills is available for guests who wish to maintain their workout routines.
On-Site Dining: The hotel houses an on-site restaurant, The Metro Cafe, which serves breakfast and dinner. There is also The City Lounge, offering wines and spirits with a light evening menu. A coffee shop/cafe is also available for quick bites and coffee.
Meeting and Event Spaces: The hotel offers over 2,900 square feet of meeting space across four meeting rooms, with the largest room being 1,000 sq ft. These spaces are suitable for business meetings, conferences, and small events, and include amenities like high-speed internet and AV equipment.
Accessibility Features: The property offers accessible rooms with features like roll-in showers or grab bars, and the hotel itself is wheelchair accessible with an elevator and accessible parking.
Safety Features: The hotel is equipped with smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and key card access for security.
While the hotel boasts a good list of features, the actual condition and reliability of these features, particularly room amenities and cleanliness, are inconsistent across guest reviews. The presence of these amenities suggests an effort to provide a comfortable stay, but guests are advised to manage expectations based on the range of experiences reported.

May 13, 2025 · Ace CavazosVery clean. Room was spacious. It was late when we checked in, almost 9pm, but the staff was very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with a decent range of choices. Will definitely be back. It was very quiet and no noise from other floors or rooms filtered through the walls.
May 12, 2025 · Lucy Harrelson***WARNING PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING*** Flight landed early, so I booked here for an early check-in fee of $75. (Already had a reservation for 25th-29th) Guy at front desk super shady didnt explain much nor give any recipets. Had a stay from April 25th -29th and my friend and I could not literally stay at the hotel. (Literally kept leaving the room at all hours, super itchy and uncomfortable after our discovery….) After the first night we slept and came back AFTER they changed the sheets, 7th flor room 702 BED BUGS (later fund in my luggage as well). Brought it to front desks attention and was promised reimbursment for the nights stay and the early check-in in fee. (The whole stay should be free) Also was moved to a room on a lower floor (same room no upgrade), Still to this day (5/7/25) they ignore all my request and have never reimbursed me for this stay, thus why I have to escalte it to my bank. The real crazy part is, we still had a key to the previous room on accident and my firend went to retrieve his charger he left, and the room was remade perfectly ready for a new person to check in and use. 🤮🤮🤮 They have staff who just open the door into your rooms no knocking no nothing. BLOOD STAINS ON WALL I tried to be as nice and polite calling them and explaining my experience but I guess they thought they could take advantage of my kindness and assumed it didnt happen although there is security footage of us coming to the main lobby with all our stuff complaining. TERRIBLE PLACE TO STAY, TERRIBLE STAFF THAT LIES, ROACHES INSIDE THE LOBBY. I will never stay at this “4 star” hotel. I do not reccomend staying here at all. No peace of mind. Talking with The security guard lady was the best part of the whole expeirence smh I cant wait to see the automated response to this and the lies theyll say
May 08, 2025 · Gabriel NightI had to stay here a couple of weeks bc I was working at the CHOA up the street. I wasn't particularly happy with my room, but it wasn't terrible. The only complaint I have was that the AC vent in my room would spray condensation out every couple of hours. Since the vent was right above the bed and the nightstand, it would get all over them and all over the carpet. Which, in result, would get anything I had on the nightstand wet and made the carpet wet and smelled musty. I didn't make any complaints bc it was tolerable. It doesn't happen in every room bc my two other partners' rooms weren't like that. Oh, the other thing was that there was a leak about the closet area in my room. It only leaked once in the two weeks that I stayed. Other than that, the room was great. The staff were very nice. They have security in the evening, which is also nice. The elevators were always quick. The pool wasn't opened when I was there. They serve breakfast every morning. It's your typical scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage kind of breakfast. They have a nice little gym. They don't have a laundry room, but they have a laundromat nearby. There's a nice little bar on the first floor, where I'd frequently visited upon arrival after work. Bartenders-David and Quincy are great! I liked the location bc it was close to many restaurants and grocery stores. It's also right off the freeway, which makes it convenient to get around. It's not a "beautiful" location per se, but they're fairly new, and I'm sure they're still working on it. They also have ample free parking. If the price is still low for when I need to come back for work next year, I'd stay again.
May 17, 2025 · Channing Men• APPEARANCE: Typical downtown ATL however Brookhaven bought DoubleTree and is in the process of converting their signs and covered them making the hotel look abandoned. Very pretty waterfall and lobby. Wear and tear on walls and structural items show lack of maintenance in cosmetics but all functional. Furniture and accessories in lobby were in good condition. Rooms are mostly aged by wear and tear, more likely from DoubleTree’s time. • PHONE SERVICE: Google # reaches a different hotel in a different city - they kindly transferred me to Brookhaven but the line dropped after selecting my options through the AI. Called the night before, no answer. Called morning of check-in and couldn’t reach the hotel. Clerk mentioned the phone had been ringing all day, so we were both confused. Thankfully, reservation went through and the rest of my stay was smooth. • PARKING: Free, but full. Extra empty parking in the back with no issues getting out. • SERVICE: Clerk was slammed by people needing things, had to wait in line. She was still friendly and helpful. Wanted early check-in but the room wasn’t ready yet, came back slightly later and she got me in early. Asked me what my stay was for. • ACCESS: Four elevators but always conveniently empty and operating. Their floors were gross, so be sure to wipe your shoes before entering your room. Access Card worked just fine. • ROOM APPEARANCE: I got corner rooms next to exit stairs, but mostly quiet. Giant window views the interstate and will constantly make sound. Window is accessible in allowing you to open the sound guard and crack the window 5”. Everything was clean and organized. • LINENS & TOWELS: All permanently stained but smelled and felt fresh. • BATHROOM: Toilet seat was chewed up, but clean. Shower had no visible mold on walls or curtains, no smelly water, amenities provided inside shower. Shower is not modern and has a tub, however it does not look inviting. • EXTRAS: Coffee, soap bar, 2 water bottles, ironing station, safe, hairdryer, ice bucket; 3L, 2M, 2S towels + floor towel. • BED: 5/10 - stiff but plush, good for two night stay but not extended. • FRIDGE: Clean. 1st room, fridge was broken. Was given a new room exactly the same w/ same review. • BREAKFAST: Simple but great quality! Grits, eggs, bacon, sausages, seasoned potatoes, fresh baked goods, orange juice, yogurt, and cereal bar. • AMENITIES: Gym has descent range of equipment and space. Pool is under servicing and was not accessible at the time.
