Booked a room last minute for an early morning flight. From the outside, I wasn't expecting to walk in to a quaint atmosphere, that felt like I was in a five star hotel lobby. Lots of free refreshments, hot face towels, and complimentary hot soup! The staff member at the front desk was WONDERFUL! Walking into the room, it was huge. The king size bed was clean and tidy. Pillows were small and flat. A 3 star review was because of the bathroom. Definitely needs to be spot cleaned around the shower, shower heads needs some deep cleaning, and the glass enclosure was filthy. As another person mentioned in their review, water goes out of the shower all over the bathroom floor because it is open. We would certainly come back!

We booked here because the price was very good. Unfortunately, the service was terrible. At check-in there was no one at the front desk. We waited about 10 minutes and rang the bell. No one showed up - never experienced that in almost 50 years of hotel stays. We gave up, brought our things back to the car, and did some shopping. When we returned, there was finally someone to check us in that was "personality minus". Moving on to our room, the first floor smelled like weed. At least the second floor didn't smell. Once in our room, it was fairly clean, except the sink was jammed and did not drain. I fixed it myself, but should not have to. The room was small compared to recent comparable stays. I would not stay here again. 2 stars and I'm probably being too generous.

I’ve lived in Latham for years and, while dealing with a home repair, I decided to book a night at The Century House—partly out of convenience and partly because I’d always been curious about the property. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing and not worth the $150+ per night price tag. Upon check-in, I was met by a front desk woman (I believe her name was “Za,” a heavier-set, middle-aged woman) who was shockingly rude and condescending. I asked a basic question about whether debit cards were accepted for incidentals—a common inquiry since some hotels only allow credit cards—and her sarcastic response was, “If you have no money on it, then no.” It was unnecessarily insulting and made for an uncomfortable start to my stay. I chose not to take it personally, assuming she might have stress or something going on, but professionalism should be expected in hospitality. The first room I was given was awful—outdated, with a strong stale/moldy odor, non-working AC, and stained furniture. It felt neglected and not at all worth the rate being charged. I called the front desk and was moved to a better room, which I appreciated, but by that point, the damage was done. In hindsight, I would’ve been much better off booking at the Hampton Inn off Route 7 or trying Hotel Trilogy near the airport. I wanted to support a local, historic spot, but this experience made it clear I won’t be returning. I also won’t be recommending it to others. Had the interaction with “Za” been even remotely polite, I might’ve been able to overlook the condition of the first room. But when poor service meets poor upkeep, it leaves a lasting impression—and not a good one. I truly don’t understand how this place maintains such positive reviews—maybe from restaurant patrons who decide to stay the night after dinner, or older guests with fond memories. Unfortunately, my own experience was far from pleasant.

Stayed here overnight on a business trip. The decor in the hallways is stuck in the '80s, but the hotel is a great value, it's well maintained, and my room was very comfortable. A fine breakfast was included in the rate. I'd recommend it!
