the staff was very nice and accommodating. The lodge itself gets two stars because our initial room had water dripping from the ceiling right above the toilet, the flooring was stick on and coming up to the point that there were huge gaps between the “boards” and the room was advertised as “stand alone” when it was in the main building of the lodge. The mattresses were awful! They felt old and need to be replaced. The continental breakfast wasn’t in that building and we had to drive to the common man inn & spa to eat. the food was pretty good though and the shop at the main inn Was very cute. This was not worth the price they charged and I highly suggest finding another place to stay. The holiday inn is better than this place was.

A significant feature of The Common Man Lodge, and a key aspect of its offering, is the full access it provides to the extensive amenities at its sister property, The Common Man Inn & Spa, located just a short 0.4-mile drive down the road (though guests should note the road includes interstate on and off ramps, making walking between the two properties not advisable). This access means guests of The Lodge can enjoy:
Accommodation types at The Common Man Lodge include various room configurations, such as Standard Queen Rooms, Superior Queen Rooms, and Standard King Rooms, some of which may be advertised as "Lodge Building Off Site" rooms depending on booking platforms. While details on specific room square footage are available, generally, rooms are equipped for comfort with beds, private bathrooms (with bath or shower), and essential toiletries. Some rooms may include sofa beds, catering to families or small groups. The lodge has 54 rooms spread across two floors and was built in 1987, with interior corridors for guest access. The property is smoke-free. Free cribs/infant beds are available upon request.
The continental breakfast, a standard offering for many hotels, is not served at The Common Man Lodge itself. Instead, guests are required to drive to The Common Man Inn & Spa to enjoy the breakfast. While this may be an inconvenience for some, reviews indicate that the food quality at the main inn's breakfast is generally "pretty good." Dining beyond breakfast is also available at the Common Man Inn & Spa, specifically at Foster's Boiler Room, an on-site restaurant serving American cuisine for dinner. The Common Man family of restaurants is well-regarded in New Hampshire, offering a variety of dining experiences across their properties.
Promotional information for The Common Man Lodge often highlights its affiliation with the broader Common Man family, emphasizing the brand's commitment to "doing common things uncommonly well." The lodge positions itself as a friendly and hospitable option in Plymouth, providing a comfortable base for exploring the region. Its proximity to Plymouth State University makes it a convenient choice for campus visitors. The access to the Inn & Spa's amenities is a significant promotional point, offering guests the benefits of a full-service resort while staying at The Lodge. Discounts, such as corporate and government/military rates, may be offered. The "Lodge" is described as providing a "warm and cozy experience" with "extraordinary and friendly guest service."
However, it is crucial for potential guests to consider recent customer reviews to set realistic expectations. While staff friendliness and accommodation are consistently praised, several recurring concerns about the physical condition of the lodge's rooms have been noted. These include issues like water dripping from the ceiling, loose and lifting "stick-on" flooring with significant gaps, and the general feeling that rooms are not quite "luxury" as some might expect. A major point of contention for guests has been the quality of the mattresses, frequently described as "awful," "old," "creaky," and feeling like "foldout sofa bed quality," with springs being noticeable. Some reviews also report issues with hot water taking a long time to warm up and then being too hot to regulate. The inconvenience of driving to a separate building for breakfast is also a repeated comment. Despite the excellent staff service, these physical shortcomings have led some guests to express that the stay was "not worth the price" and that they would "highly suggest finding another place to stay," even recommending competitors like the Holiday Inn. This suggests that while the staff and access to the Inn's amenities are strong positives, the comfort of the sleeping experience and the overall upkeep of some Lodge rooms are areas of concern that prospective guests should weigh in their decision-making.

Jan 26, 2025 · Heather CamaraHotel staff was great! Very kind and helpful. The problem at the lodge is with the mattresses on the beds. They're clearly very old. They are similar to a foldout sofa bed quality. Very creaky and I was able to feel the lumps from the springs when I was laying on it. Also the hot water took a very long time to warm up, probably about ten minutes and then it was too hot and I couldn't get it to cool down. The staff was so awesome here that I hate to rate the place low but really the beds were just terrible. I wouldn't stay here again despite the excellent treatment we received from the employees. Comfort is most important to me. Maybe I'll try their main inn down the street next time, not sure. I'm afraid those beds will be awful too.

Jun 11, 2024 · Dave EThe main desk has friendly helpful receptionist to answer any questions. Cute gift shop that sells the organic goat milk soap that is in all the rooms. Only drawback is we didn't see any elevator and we were on 2nd floor.
