Wow. We were really looking forward to finally getting a chance to stay at the Fitzpatrick. However, for us there were several surprises. Upon entering the lobby I thought we were coming into a day care center, there were several moms and there children of different ages and volumes behind the registration desk. Kind of a spoiler for the old time elegance of the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised that our room was upgrade to the suite. We enjoyed the large elegant room. The bathroom was what you would expect from the era but for us, we couldn’t really use the shower as you had to step over and into deep claw foot tub with no safety aids. We are an older couple so that didn’t work well for us. I had hoped that this current owner had restored the wood work and revamped the carpets. Not so. Also a concern was their elevator inspection was almost 6 month’s out of date. Having been stuck in the past this was sort of scary. I am glad we finally stayed here but most likely will not return.

Jan 31, 2025 · Leo P4-15-24: Being a victim of A.D.D. and loving it it has given me sharp attention to detail. The hotel is not the Ritz and that's not why you go there. You go there for a deep appreciation for old world charm and woodworking that only old time craftmanship can deliver. The bed in room 208 was comfortable and the room charming. In olden days the window over the door would open to let out hot air (no AC back then) and the claw tub romantic. Time for detail, smoke alarm beeping, faucet handles loose, rooms are scantily furnished (could use a second night stand) and its been a while since the renovation so its time for some TLC. With that being said I would definitely go back and stay for more then one night, maybe dress my wife in a turn of the century night gown and chase her down the hall. Just kidding, Its still the off season but the porch would have been really cool to hang out on with the lights and a glass of wine. Suggestions, owner needs to do some up keeping (not the people who run it) maybe make a deal with a local place to provide breakfast? 24 hour staff? I didn't see anyone and is it possible to exchange free room for 24 hour desk service? With that said I will definitely come back to try out those corner rooms and see if the change I put on the dresser stacks itself again. sincerely the amateur hotel critic.
Apr 21, 2024 · David HeynsWe stayed here twice this month and it's a lovely hotel with friendly, helpful employees. Beautiful, historic, clean, nice place to stay! We'll be back! Oh, and loved Duffy's Public House. Unique & delicious.
Sep 16, 2024 · PATRICIA DUPONTGreat historic hotel in the heart of a charming town. Great shops and restaurants within walking distance. Only issue, AC could use some help. We understand it is often expensive and difficult to up fit historic buildings with modern conveniences, so we dealt with it. But the AC system could be upgraded.
