Pros: Beautiful old building in the middle of Seneca Falls's main business district. Rooms are clean, bright, and everything is high quality. Parking in back. Walking distance to Seneca Falls attractions and restaurants. Excellent in-house restaurant with a bar that makes good drinks. (There was no live music on our stay.) Beds comfortable (a bit high, short people take note). Cons: Soundproofing could be better (we, ahem, heard some stuff from the couple next door). Ice is only available by request at the desk (the old building probably doesn't allow for an ice machine on each floor). Only one elevator (again, old building, take that into account). No fridges in the rooms, so bring a cooler and get ice. There should be lights in the closets as where they're located, no light from the room really gets in there (luckily I always have a flashlight with me). We stayed here during a special event, and our group and its unusual needs (it was a meet-up for people who own greyhound dogs!) were welcomed warmly and treated very well. I have no complaints at all; my list of cons is just small nitpicks, and not one of them adds up to a reason to not stay here again. We enjoyed our time there and honestly, the only downside was the weather on the weekend we were there!

Services and Features:
The Gould Hotel is consistently praised for its high-quality offerings and attention to guest comfort. The "rooms are clean, bright, and everything is high quality," indicating a commitment to maintaining excellent standards despite being housed in an older building. Guests frequently highlight the comfort of the beds, ensuring a restful night's sleep, though it's noted they can be "a bit high," which short-statured individuals might want to consider.
A standout feature of The Gould Hotel is its "excellent in-house restaurant with a bar that makes good drinks." This on-site dining option adds immense value for guests, providing a convenient and high-quality culinary experience without needing to leave the premises. Specific guest feedback on the restaurant's offerings, such as "roasted brussel sprouts and loaded sweet potato fries with bacon and jalapeño," speaks to a sophisticated and flavorful menu. The praise for the "exceptional" service from staff like Krista in the restaurant underscores a strong focus on hospitality and guest satisfaction in this area. While live music was not present during one guest's stay, the bar remains a popular spot for good drinks and a pleasant atmosphere.
Other general services and features that contribute to a positive guest experience include hot water for showers and reliable climate control within the rooms. The hotel also demonstrates a welcoming attitude towards groups with "unusual needs," as evidenced by the warm reception of a greyhound dog owners' meet-up. This indicates a flexible and accommodating approach to diverse guest requirements, extending to being pet-friendly, which is a significant draw for many travelers.
While the hotel excels in many areas, there are a few practical considerations related to its historic nature. Soundproofing, for example, "could be better," leading to some noise transfer between rooms. Ice is "only available by request at the desk," likely due to the structural limitations of an older building preventing ice machines on each floor. Similarly, there is "only one elevator," which might occasionally lead to minor delays. Guests should also note that there are "no fridges in the rooms," a detail that might require planning, such as bringing a cooler. The lack of adequate lighting in closets is another minor "nitpick" for some. However, these points are generally considered small inconveniences that do not detract significantly from the overall positive experience, as reflected in the sentiment that they are "not one of them adds up to a reason to not stay here again."

Feb 16, 2025 · Kelly SedingerWe stopped in today for drinks and appetizers. The service was exceptional. Our server, Krista, was very accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly. We had the roasted brussel sprouts and loaded sweet potato fries with bacon and jalapeño. Both appetizers were delicious, but the sweet potato fries were so flavorful and satisfying. We truly enjoyed our experience today.
Mar 22, 2025 · Randy MadsenCute hotel with nice clean rooms, close to a lot in walking distance. The manager even helped us when we got a flat tire in town so we could get back on the road. Would definitely recommend!
May 12, 2025 · Melinda LaszczynskiWorst experience ever. It is an old hotel that needs renovations. The rooms feel dirty. However I am writing this negative review because the manager is an unprofessional individual. A fire alarm went off at 9:30 pm. He did not follow any safety measures. He showed no concern for the patrons and after expressing agitation over the fire alarm, which he couldn't shut off, he refused to move us to a floor where the alarm was not going off ( he did not like the conversation). My advice, stay away.
Apr 03, 2025 · Gina LamandreThe Gould could be a tremendous property that currently isn't living up to its potential, but I'm rooting for them to correct course. We on balance enjoyed our stay but certainly had to overlook a number of things. The building has plenty of charm, they hit the aesthetic they were going for. Rooms were clean, and the bathroom in particular was quite spacious. Walkable to tons of cafes, shops, restaurants, with several just down the block. Front desk staff were very friendly and tried to the best of their ability to make sure our stay was comfortable. Breakfast was adequate when it was available. The building looks like it went through a full reno about 7-8 years ago but I suspect they haven't been properly maintaining it since. Lots of little stuff obvious to the guest isn't getting done in both the common areas and the rooms that should be a layup for a competent maintenance staff. Doesn't feel premium when you walk by the same scrapes in the wall, the same tattered elevator door wrap, the same grime on the exterior window sills every day. If they can't do the easy stuff they know guests will notice, then it makes you wonder what else aren't they bothering with that we can't see? Coffee and breakfast were not set out when we came downstairs well after their posted time on both of our final two days. Staff was apologetic and tried to hurry to address it, but you just can't miss on that two days in a row. Related, it felt like they were running a skeleton crew. People that were there were putting in the effort but they needed more support. For the restaurant, food was excellent. My wife ordered one of their seasonal cocktails and enjoyed it. I wanted to order a local craft beer, but their taplist had several empty taps and winter beers on it in May. Sam Adams stops shipping their Winter Lager in January. Not sure how long that's been sitting there or how recently these lines were attended to. At a certain point having that on tap still is a red flag and you're better off dumping it and freshening up your selection. Decided to play it safe and order a Coors bottle instead, which is a bummer in an area with a strong craft beer scene.
