I visited Waterloo, New York a few months back during an ice storm between Rochester and Syracuse when it was no longer safe to drive. I pulled off Interstate 90 after my friend looked up a Microtel nearby. However, The Lux was before said hotel and looked nice, so I decided to stop there. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and welcomed my highly trained service dog. She helped me find a room on the first floor near an exit, so he could do his business easily. The room was clean and smelled good unlike some hotels. Also, the furniture and decor were modern. I noticed they had a seasonal outdoor pool, which is always a welcome treat and preferred, because who wants to go swimming inside without sun and reeking of chlorine? Lastly, the continental breakfast the next morning was the best I've ever had! Seriously-- They had made-to-order Belgian waffles, mini omelettes with onions and bell peppers, sausage patties, bacon, cheddar and Swiss cheese, bagels, cereal options, fresh fruit, juice, and coffee. I made a few trips to the buffet and grabbed some sausage for the road for my dog. I appreciated that there was an attendant at the breakfast station keeping everything both clean and well-stocked. If I'm ever in the area again, I most definitely will be back!

May 13, 2025 · KreeVery basic but clean. The public spaces appear to have been recently renovated, but the rooms could use some updating. Bed was very comfy. Room appeared clean but dated. Bathroom was clean but in serious need of updating/remodeling. Vent did not work and the shower ceiling and caulk had the beginning signs of black mold. Toilet was oddly super low but worked fine (needs a soft close seat/lid). We did appreciate the room darkening shade. No light leaking in in the morning and had a nice picture printed on it. Price was OK... maybe a bit high considering the need for updates/renovations. The best part of our stay was the unexpectedly good meal and service in the on-site restaurant. Definitely the highlight of our overnight stay. We would stay here again, and would choose this hotel over the hotel across the road...
Mar 10, 2025 · K BocinskiDear Hotel Management, I am writing to express my deep concern regarding a troubling incident that occurred during my recent stay at your hotel from the night of March 27th to March 28th, 2025. I stayed in room 114, and throughout the night, I was disturbed by the sounds of a child crying intermittently. At first, I tried to ignore it, understanding that young children often cry, but I became deeply alarmed when I heard the child speak for the first time, saying, “Daddy, my wa wa hurts.” The man accompanying the child then made strange noises, which raised my concern further. It seemed that something was wrong, and I felt it necessary to report it. I tried to call the front desk from my room to report my concern, but the phone was not working. I then walked down to speak with a staff member, who appeared uninterested in the matter. I explained my concerns, particularly that I feared the child might be in danger or that potential abuse could be occurring. Despite my worries, the staff member did not seem to take the situation seriously. She walked down to my room to check, but when I asked for more information, she claimed that the neighbors did not have children, or she was unable to provide further details. I find it extremely disturbing that the safety and well-being of a child appeared to be dismissed in such a casual manner. While I understand that children cry from time to time, the situation raised significant red flags, and I believe the staff should have shown greater urgency and empathy when a guest expressed genuine concern for a child’s welfare. I am writing this review in the hopes that it will reach the appropriate individuals at your hotel who care about ensuring the safety and well-being of your guests, especially children. I sincerely hope that further investigation takes place and that future concerns of this nature are treated with the seriousness they deserve. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Julia Bentley
Mar 28, 2025 · Julia AnnI stayed at this hotel during a business trip, and it was a very pleasant experience. The location is excellent, close to several restaurants and major tourist attractions. The room was spotless, with a comfortable bed and all the necessary amenities. I would especially like to highlight the night shift front desk staff, who were incredibly kind and helpful, making my stay even more enjoyable. The only thing that could be improved is the Wi-Fi, as the connection slowed down during peak hours. Overall, this is a hotel I highly recommend. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit.”
Jan 27, 2025 · Patricia Díaz ReyesStayed here as I’d drove all day and just needed a place to stop and sleep. Neighboring hotel was booked so ended up here. The clerk was nice and while they didn’t have lots of availability was able to get a room. The price for an older room in need of repairs was in my opinion high but needing a room I didn’t complain. The bed was comfortable but the room was less than satisfactory. The ceiling in the bathroom had stains for water and mold, the handle on the shower stall was loose and ready to fall off. The security lock on the door for the room was also loose and ready to fall out of the door casing. This place is certainly in need of some updating. While it worked for a quick overnight it wouldn’t be recommended for any extended stays.
