The location is great which is why we chose it. The first room we were given was covered in dead bugs…the windowsill, furniture tops and even the bedspreads. It obviously hadn’t been checked or freshened before we arrived. The room we were moved to was clean but the light between the beds was totally dead. We tried moving a lightbulb from the desk lamp so we had a bedside light but nope the whole fixture is just dead. And no conditioner in the shower. The bottles obviously don’t get topped off. The shower head is awful. It sprays a circle of water with nothing in the center. It’s a very noisy hotel, you can hear the rooms all around you. The door to our room rattled with every door around us opening and closing making us think someone was trying to get into our room. Breakfast is ok but the coffee may be the worst I’ve ever tasted. It was undrinkable. We ate breakfast and went to a local shop for coffee. There are lights burned out in the parking lot which I think gives the impression that the hotel is not maintained. If I return to the finger lakes I won’t stay here again

Hampton Inn Geneva Introduce

The Hampton Inn Geneva, located at 43 Lake St, Geneva, NY 14456, USA, is a well-known hotel brand that positions itself as a convenient and comfortable option for travelers visiting the Finger Lakes region. As a prominent listing under the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, it aims to provide a reliable and consistent experience for a diverse range of guests, from those exploring the local wineries and natural beauty to visitors of Hobart and William Smith Colleges or those on business travel. The hotel can be contacted at (315) 781-2035 or via mobile at +1 315-781-2035.

Recent customer feedback presents a mixed picture. While the location is frequently highlighted as "great," some reviews point to maintenance and cleanliness inconsistencies. One guest reported a room "covered in dead bugs" and issues with lighting fixtures and a "dead" shower head. Another stated, "It was sub par at best. The room was clean but needed some maintenance. The closet door was broken... The typical food was sub par and the milk for cereal was sour. The hard boiled eggs left me walking away as they were in a yellow brine." Concerns were also raised about the "very noisy" environment and "undrinkable" coffee at breakfast, leading some to seek coffee elsewhere. However, the staff generally receives positive comments for being "very nice" and "kind." Despite these challenges, the hotel's fundamental offerings such as an indoor pool and free breakfast are acknowledged.

Environment: Convenient Access to Downtown and Seneca Lake
The Hampton Inn Geneva's location on Lake Street is arguably its strongest environmental asset. It offers guests a strategic position that balances accessibility to urban amenities with proximity to the natural beauty of Seneca Lake.

  • Downtown Proximity: The hotel is situated in the newly revitalized city of Geneva, placing it within a short walk or drive to the vibrant downtown area. This allows guests easy access to local restaurants, shops, and entertainment options on Linden Street and Exchange Street.
  • Seneca Lake Access: As the name implies and the address suggests, the hotel is very close to Seneca Lake. Guests can enjoy "evening walk along the board walk" and explore Seneca Lake State Park, which offers a range of recreational activities. While not directly on the lakefront like some other properties, its proximity is a key advantage.
  • College Access: The hotel is conveniently located near Hobart and William Smith Colleges, making it a popular choice for visiting families, prospective students, and faculty.
  • Finger Lakes Gateway: Being in Geneva, the hotel serves as a gateway to the broader Finger Lakes Wine Trail, providing a practical base for exploring the region's numerous wineries, breweries, and distilleries.
  • Roadside Convenience: Its location on Lake Street (Route 14) ensures easy access for those traveling by car, with clear signage and straightforward navigation.

The environment is characterized by its blend of small-city convenience and regional natural attractions, making it suitable for both leisure and business travel. However, the feedback about noise, "you can hear the rooms all around you," suggests that despite the generally quiet town, internal soundproofing might be a concern for light sleepers.

Services: Standard Brand Offerings with Varied Execution
Hampton Inn is known for its consistent brand standards, and the Geneva location offers a range of services designed to meet common traveler needs. However, customer reviews indicate that the execution of some services may vary.

  • Complimentary Breakfast: A signature Hampton Inn amenity, the hotel provides a "complimentary hot breakfast" each morning, typically including hot food items, waffles, cereals, fresh fruit, and coffee. While advertised as such, recent feedback suggests quality issues with items like sour milk and unappealing hard-boiled eggs, and particularly "undrinkable" coffee, prompting guests to seek alternatives.
  • Indoor Pool, Hot Tub, and Sauna: The hotel features an "indoor pool," "hot tub," and "sauna," offering recreational and relaxation options for guests year-round. These are valued amenities, though one review noted "pool did not open" on a specific occasion, suggesting potential availability issues.
  • Fitness Center: An "exercise room" or "fitness center" is available for guests to maintain their workout routines. One reviewer specifically mentioned using the "treadmill in the exercise room" even during light rain, highlighting its utility.
  • Free Wi-Fi and Parking: Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided throughout the property, and free self-parking is available on-site, including space for larger vehicles.
  • 24-Hour Front Desk: A 24-hour front desk ensures assistance is available at any time, a standard for major hotel brands. Staff are generally described as "friendly," "helpful," and "very nice."
  • Pet-Friendly: The Hampton Inn Geneva is a pet-friendly hotel, allowing guests to bring dogs and cats for an additional fee, making it a convenient option for travelers with furry companions.
  • Business and Meeting Facilities: The hotel includes a business center with fax and printer services, and a meeting room with 312 square feet of space suitable for small gatherings or events, accommodating up to 25 people for receptions.
  • Laundry Services: Dry cleaning/laundry services are available, adding convenience for guests on longer stays.
  • Room Cleanliness (Mixed Reviews): While some rooms are described as "clean," others have been noted as "covered in dead bugs" or needing "maintenance," indicating inconsistency in housekeeping and upkeep.

While the range of services is typical for a Hampton Inn, recent experiences suggest that maintenance and consistency in quality, especially regarding breakfast, could be areas for improvement.

Features: Standard Comforts with Some Wear and Tear
The Hampton Inn Geneva offers 55 comfortably appointed guestrooms across three floors, with a design intended to provide standard comfort and convenience.

  • Room Types: Available room types typically include King rooms and Queen rooms with two beds, with options for accessible rooms and studio suites.
  • In-Room Amenities: Standard amenities in each non-smoking room generally include:
    • Flat-screen TV with premium cable channels.
    • Coffee/tea maker.
    • Mini-refrigerator and microwave.
    • Desk and in-room safe.
    • Iron and ironing board.
    • Hair dryer and complimentary toiletries.
    • Air conditioning and heating.
    • Blackout drapes/curtains for better sleep.
  • Bed Comfort: While some feedback suggests beds are "comfortable," one review noted a "very soft mattress," and another mentioned "unmade bed" and "beat up room," indicating potential inconsistencies or wear.
  • Bathroom Quality: Specific complaints regarding the "awful" shower head that "sprays a circle of water with nothing in the center" and lack of conditioner in bottles suggest issues with basic bathroom functionality and replenishment. Mold in shower stalls was also reported.
  • Maintenance Issues: Several features, such as "dead" light fixtures, broken closet doors, and burned-out parking lot lights, point to deferred maintenance.
  • Noise: The hotel is described as "very noisy," with guests able to "hear the rooms all around you" and doors rattling, which can impact guest comfort and sleep quality.
  • Renovation: The hotel was built in 2005 and last renovated in 2005 (though other sources suggest 2020), implying that some areas might show their age.

These features aim to provide a standard Hampton Inn experience, but the recent customer reviews highlight that some areas may be in need of more consistent maintenance and quality control.

Promotional Information and Local Activities: Explore the Heart of the Finger Lakes
The Hampton Inn Geneva promotes itself as an ideal base for exploring the rich attractions of Geneva and the wider Finger Lakes region. For users searching "Hotels Near Of Me," its location and brand recognition are key selling points.

Promotional aspects and nearby activities often highlighted include:

  • Finger Lakes Wine Trail: Geneva is a central point for exploring the renowned Seneca Lake Wine Trail, with numerous wineries, breweries, and distilleries easily accessible from the hotel.
  • Seneca Lake Activities: Proximity to Seneca Lake allows for activities such as fishing, boating, kayaking, and walks along the boardwalk at Seneca Lake State Park.
  • Downtown Geneva Exploration: Guests are encouraged to explore Geneva's revitalized downtown, with its diverse range of "restaurants, shopping, and entertainment." The Smith Opera House and local boutiques are within easy reach.
  • Hobart and William Smith Colleges: Being very close to the colleges makes it a convenient option for academic visits, sporting events, or family gatherings.
  • Area Attractions: Other regional attractions within a reasonable drive include:
    • Waterloo Premium Outlets for shopping.
    • Rose Hill Mansion and other historic sites.
    • Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge for nature enthusiasts.
    • Various state parks with hiking and natural beauty.
  • Family-Friendly Features: The indoor pool, free breakfast (despite recent feedback), and pet-friendly policy cater to families traveling with children and pets.
  • Business Travel: The business center and meeting room facilities promote the hotel as a suitable choice for corporate guests.
  • Value Proposition: As a Hampton Inn, it typically emphasizes a value proposition, offering standard amenities like free breakfast and Wi-Fi within a recognizable brand framework.

While the hotel's location offers undeniable advantages for exploring the Finger Lakes, potential guests should consider recent customer feedback regarding room conditions and breakfast quality when making their booking decisions, especially when looking for "Hotels Near Of Me" with specific expectations.

I have stayed here many times and was hesitant to give feedback about the last trip. It was sub par at best. The room was clean but needed some maintenance. The closet door was broken and was inhibiting the walk way. The typical food was sub par and the milk for cereal was sour. The hard boiled eggs left me walking away as they were in a yellow brine. Needless to say I wouldn't recommend this place like I would have in the past. Not sure what changed but it is not For the better.

Usually, staying out of town for work should be a fun, clean break from day to day life. When I arrived to my room, there was a few things that stood out. First thing I see is what I hope was sauce stained on my bed, bedside light flickering then went out. Just to name a few things. The biggest thing was when I checked the filter in the heater. Complete disgust. If you are staying in this hotel, you are breathing in months, if not years of dirt and dust. Check out this photo for reference as I HAD TO CLEAN THE FILTERS MYSELF JUST TO BREATHE CLEAN AIR WHILE I SLEEP. Totally unacceptable. If I had booked more than just one night I would’ve walked the filter straight to the front desk. For $150 a night, it’s a ripoff and disrespect.

After arriving to a room different than I had originally booked, the staff only charged me for one night instead of two for the inconvenience. Mistakes happen but accommodating the inconvenience was done without a second thought.

I've been traveling frequently the past few weekends. The rooms are a bit dated but clean. A major plus was when I walked in the room is smelled freshly cleaned and didn't have any musty odor which happens frequently with carpeted hotel rooms. So I was pleasantly surprised. Not the worst stay I've had as of late so overall not a bad stay. The staff was also very friendly and helpful
