Of my 50 years of traveling, this was the worst experience I’ve ever had. The staff cared absolutely nothing about guests. They put us in a room right over 2 weddings - one each night - where the floor was literally vibrating with the noise until midnight. Had we been warned (had they been transparent) we would have picked another hotel - but they already had our money. I would not recommend staying here if you value comfort and service. Our friends staying at Holiday Inn Express had a MUCH better experience.

Vinifera Inn Introduce

For local users exploring options on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, Vinifera Inn, located at 4069 W Lake Rd, Geneva, NY 14456, USA, presents itself as a property that aims to offer a premium experience, particularly given its association with Belhurst Castle. Situated directly on Seneca Lake, the inn boasts a picturesque environment. However, an objective introduction based on customer feedback reveals a nuanced picture regarding its services and features, which potential guests should consider carefully before booking.

The environment of Vinifera Inn is undoubtedly one of its most appealing aspects. It is described as being "located right on Seneca Lake with beautiful views and lovely landscaping." This direct waterfront access provides guests with stunning vistas of the lake, which is a significant draw for visitors to the Finger Lakes region. The property, including both the Inn and the adjacent Belhurst Castle, is characterized by its "old world charm" and is considered "quite stunning." This suggests a grand, possibly historic aesthetic that contributes to a romantic and picturesque setting. The natural beauty of the surroundings, coupled with well-maintained grounds, creates an attractive backdrop for a getaway, particularly for events like weddings, which are a common occurrence on the property. However, this aspect of its environment can also contribute to significant noise, as detailed by guests experiencing "vibrating" floors due to wedding events, which can extend late into the night. While the visual environment is certainly a strong point, the acoustic environment during events is a notable concern for guests seeking peace and quiet.

In terms of services, customer reviews indicate that Vinifera Inn has experienced challenges in delivering the expected level of hospitality, especially for a property advertising itself as a resort with corresponding prices. Guests reported significant issues with housekeeping, with rooms being "ignored completely" for a three-night stay, leading to "no fresh towels, unmade bed, no trash removal, etc." Procuring fresh towels reportedly required "numerous conversations with front desk" and delays until late evening. This suggests a significant breakdown in fundamental guest services. Furthermore, staff attentiveness and transparency were questioned, with one guest stating the staff "cared absolutely nothing about guests" and did not warn them about disruptive wedding noise. Billing issues were also a notable problem, involving incorrect deposits and requiring "numerous discussions" and manager intervention to resolve, taking "another 30 minutes at checkout." This reflects a lack of efficiency and clarity in administrative services. While basic services like check-in and breakfast might be available (though specific details on breakfast quality or location are limited to the experience of its sister property, White Springs Manor, which shares the same phone number), the overall service delivery, particularly in areas like housekeeping and billing, appears to fall significantly short of expectations for a hotel of this price point.

Vinifera Inn's features, while possessing some appealing aspects, also come with notable limitations according to guest feedback. The rooms are described as "spacious" and some include "fireplaces (gas)," which could be a cozy amenity. However, these fireplaces are reportedly only usable when "the hotel decides when to turn them on," even when outside temperatures are cold, limiting guest autonomy and comfort. Guests also found that rooms "lacked many standard amenities that are found in just about every hotel," such as sufficient hangers (only "two or three" in large closets) and a clean, adequate number of bathrobes (only "one bathrobe" that "did not look clean"). The in-room televisions are described as "very small and limited," which might detract from the modern entertainment experience. While rooms may offer "a distant, yet gorgeous view of the lake," this is not a universal feature for all accommodations. The hotel's connection to Belhurst Castle, where guests might check in and where wine is sold, indicates a broader property with multiple offerings, potentially including a restaurant and winery. However, the core features of the individual rooms, coupled with the management's policies (e.g., controlling fireplace usage) and a perceived lack of standard amenities, contrast sharply with the "resort prices" charged. The property's role as a wedding venue is a significant feature, contributing to its charm but also to potential noise disruptions for other guests.

For local users considering Vinifera Inn on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, promotional information should be approached with an understanding of the described guest experiences. While the hotel might promote its "beautiful views" and "old world charm" as a "resort," potential guests should balance these attractive features with the reported challenges in service and amenity provision. The phone numbers, (315) 781-0201 and +1 315-781-0201, are available for direct inquiries, but it would be prudent for prospective guests to specifically inquire about noise levels if planning a stay during potential wedding events, and to confirm the availability and functionality of all desired in-room amenities. The advertising as a "resort" and charging "resort prices" while reportedly failing to "provide a resort experience" is a critical piece of information for local users to consider. The stark contrast between the attractive physical environment and the reported shortcomings in service, particularly housekeeping and billing, suggests that local users prioritize transparency and clear communication with the hotel before committing to a booking. For a comfortable and service-oriented stay, guests might find more reliable experiences elsewhere, as suggested by one reviewer comparing their experience to another local hotel. Therefore, while Vinifera Inn visually offers charm and lakeside beauty, it's crucial for users to manage expectations regarding the quality and consistency of its services.

Belhurst Castle and Vinifera Inn are located right on Seneca Lake with beautiful views and lovely landscaping. The Inn and the Castle are quite stunning with old world charm. Rooms are spacious but lacked many standard amenities that are found in just about every hotel. Large double closets offered just two or three hangars. The one bathrobe ( not two) in my closet did not look clean. Needless to say, it stayed in the closet. TVs are very small and limited. Rooms have fireplaces (gas) but we could not use them because the hotel decides when to turn them on. Temps were in the 40s during my stay but they were not turned on for use. The most troubling issue deals with housekeeping. Our 3 night stay started off fine. Day 2 left us with a room that had no fresh towels, unmade bed, no trash removal, etc. It took numerous conversations with front desk to just procure fresh towels which did not arrive until after 7 pm. I could continue but suffice it to say that the service provided fell far short of what one would expect for a $321/night hotel room. I recognize that staffing issues are a concern. But hotel management cannot simply ignore providing standard housekeeping procedures. Our 2 rooms were both ignored completely. No effort was made to contact us about the inability to attend to our rooms nor were we compensated in any way for our inconvenience. Lastly, our deposits for the 2 rooms were credited to just one room resulting in incorrect billing for both rooms. We notified the front desk at check in. Total confusion for the front desk. They refused to adjust the bill and told us to square it between us. We had to get the manager involved to authorize the correction ( which was a simple task). At checkout, the error had not been corrected necessitating another 30 minutes of discussion before it was finally corrected. In conclusion, the hotel advertises that it is a resort. They charge resort prices. But they fail to provide a resort experience

Best to avoid for the money. It appears the owners must be treating this property as a cash cow - they are not investing in staff, service, standard amenities or staff training with the customer in mind. This is a bare bones operation. As other reviewers have said, hard to get service, phone rings all night if you need help, very few towels, extra pillows have no cases, blankets are made of that weird "foamy" polyester from the 1990's, the owners decide when you can use the fireplace, which is not until after 11/1 regardless of weather. People were not friendly. When checking out, no one even said, "How was your stay?" It was like checking out at a convenience store, but less friendly. The rooms are not "plush" or decorated at the excellence standard for spending about $400/night. Very disappointed. Our two-stars are given for location, view, being next to the castle....and the yellow lamborghini parked next to us in the parking lot.

Beautiful spot just surprisingly lacking a few basic things - like the option to have two keys for one hotel room, or accessible doors at the entrance.

If you want a relaxing and beautiful location for a vacation this is the place you need to visit. Everything is first class from the rooms, restaurants, staff and gardens. A beautiful experience.
