We had a wonderful time! Beautiful location. Staff were friendly and informative of the area. Clean rooms. Complimentary win tasting, which was so fun! I recommend adding on the cheese pairing. ;) This was a wonderful stay for our anniversary.
For local users in Geneva, New York, or those planning a visit to the Finger Lakes region and exploring options on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, Belhurst Castle and Winery presents itself as a distinctive and historic lodging experience. Located at 4069 W Lake Rd, Geneva, NY 14456, USA, this establishment aims to offer a unique blend of historical charm, picturesque scenery, and wine-related activities. To provide a comprehensive overview for local users, we will objectively detail its environment, services, key features, and any insights into promotional aspects, drawing from available information and customer feedback.
The environment of Belhurst Castle and Winery is undoubtedly one of its most captivating aspects. Situated directly on Seneca Lake, the property boasts a "beautiful location" with stunning waterfront views. This scenic setting is a significant draw, offering guests picturesque landscapes and opportunities for relaxation by the lake. The architecture of Belhurst Castle itself contributes immensely to the environment, evoking a sense of historical grandeur and charm. The property is surrounded by lovely landscaping, which enhances its aesthetic appeal and provides pleasant areas for guests to stroll and enjoy the ambiance. The presence of a winery on-site further integrates it into the renowned Finger Lakes wine region, offering a unique environmental element for wine enthusiasts. While the visual environment is highly praised, potential guests should be aware that, as a popular venue for events, particularly weddings (as implied by shared phone numbers with Vinifera Inn), the overall atmosphere can be quite lively. However, for those seeking a historically rich and visually stunning backdrop for their stay, the environment of Belhurst Castle and Winery is a primary attraction.
In terms of services, Belhurst Castle and Winery aims to provide a comprehensive and memorable experience. Guests have highlighted the staff as "friendly and informative of the area," indicating a helpful and welcoming approach to customer service. This attentiveness can be particularly beneficial for visitors looking for local recommendations or assistance during their stay. A significant service offering is the "complimentary wine tasting," which is a unique and highly appreciated amenity for guests staying at the winery. The option to "add on the cheese pairing" further enhances this experience, providing a delightful culinary complement. While one guest noted a significant issue with room temperature due to the absence of working thermostats and uninstalled air conditioners, the front desk personnel were described as "professional and kind" in handling the situation, even if they couldn't immediately resolve the core problem. This suggests a polite and empathetic staff, even when faced with challenging circumstances. The check-in and check-out processes are implicitly smooth as no issues were mentioned in positive reviews. For special occasions like anniversaries, the hotel strives to provide a "wonderful stay," suggesting a focus on creating memorable experiences for guests celebrating milestones. However, the lack of immediate solutions for comfort issues, such as room temperature, highlights a potential area where service delivery could be more robust in adapting to unforeseen circumstances.
Belhurst Castle and Winery boasts several distinctive features that set it apart. The primary feature is undoubtedly the historic "Castle" itself, which serves as a central point of attraction and provides a unique architectural experience for guests. The on-site "Winery" is another core feature, offering guests direct access to wine production, tasting rooms, and related events, which is a major draw for wine tourism in the Finger Lakes. The rooms are generally described as "clean," contributing to a comfortable stay. The availability of "complimentary wine tasting" is a value-added feature that enhances the overall guest experience, providing a direct engagement with the winery's products. The potential for a "boutique experience" is a characteristic that attracts guests seeking something beyond a standard hotel stay, with a focus on unique ambiance and personalized touches. The location directly on Seneca Lake ensures that "beautiful views" are a consistent feature for many parts of the property, if not all rooms. While guests may pay a "higher rate than other local hotels," this reflects the unique features of staying in a historic castle with an attached winery and scenic lakefront. However, guests should be aware of potential issues with amenities like air conditioning, as experienced by one reviewer, which might impact comfort during specific seasons if not addressed proactively by the hotel.
For local users searching on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, Belhurst Castle and Winery offers compelling promotional insights, particularly for those seeking a unique and memorable experience. Its "beautiful location" and the allure of a "historic castle" combined with a "winery" are powerful selling points. The "complimentary wine tasting" is an attractive incentive for wine enthusiasts. The hotel's phone numbers, (315) 781-0201 and +1 315-781-0201, are readily available for direct inquiries and reservations, allowing local residents to easily check for current rates, availability, special packages, or to inquire about specific room features and seasonal considerations like air conditioning installation. The positive feedback from guests celebrating anniversaries underscores its suitability for special occasions. While the hotel aims for a "boutique experience" at a higher price point, potential guests should manage their expectations regarding all amenities, especially climate control, and consider direct communication with the hotel for specific concerns. For local residents looking for a distinctive overnight stay, a romantic getaway, or a base for exploring the Finger Lakes wine region with an emphasis on historical charm and wine, Belhurst Castle and Winery presents itself as a strong, albeit potentially variable, option. Its unique character and beautiful setting make it a property of significant interest for a memorable stay in Geneva.

Apr 29, 2025 · Holli SoczkaI hate to give this review, but constructive criticism may help. We arrived to spend two nights and upon checking in encountered a man complaining his room was too warm. We then checked in and went to our room where we found it to be 80 degrees. There are no working thermostats in the room so we went back to desk to inquire. Apparently the hotel installs room air conditioners each year but had not done this yet. There was nothing the front desk personnel could do to help. They were professional and kind. Our only recourse was to cancel our rooms and get find an alternate hotel. I am disappointed as I thought I was booking a boutique experience and paying a higher rate than other local hotels. I would have expected more.
May 17, 2025 · Dana PedrickEverything was great about the stay. Not the most modern room to stay at in the hotel but it was very clean and well kept. The staff could not have been friendly or more helpful. The wines were very good and the house was very knowledgeable. Ate at Edgar's the first night. The escargot was very good. Prime rib was pricey but very tasty. Ate at stonecutters the second night, The service was excellent. Grounds were very well kept. Will certainly go back because of the great stay the location and service.
Mar 31, 2025 · Joshua SchreppelMy husband and I recently stayed two nights at Belhurst to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. We wanted a historic place with a lake view, so we booked the Bronze Room in the Castle for two nights and scheduled two spa treatments. PROS: The staff was professional, kind and accommodating. Check-in and check-out were easy. The Castle has that authentic feel that we love. The mattresses were comfortable and the bathrooms were modern. Everything was very clean. The wine spigot for Castle guests was a fun, unique amenity! The spa treatments were just what we needed; Molly and Kim did an amazing job. CONS: A bat found its way into our room through the chimney, forcing us to move at 2:00 AM. The front desk attendant was apologetic and helpful, and put us in a room in the newer Vinifera Inn for the rest of the night. Scott and Lindsay made everything right for us the next morning. We really appreciated their reactivity and the solution that was offered to us. We understand that a lakefront property will have bugs and bats and don’t fault the hotel for this. We do think that Belhurst could improve their food service, however. Like other reviewers, we were disappointed in the free continental breakfast. We were offered a choice of industrial, individually-wrapped muffins, doughnuts, and cups of cereal. Juice was in cans. There were no hot options. This just seemed lazy coming from an upscale hotel with two on-site restaurants. For dinner, we liked the atmosphere of Edgar's and we had a good waiter, but the service was excruciatingly slow. It took over two hours to get through the prix fixe meal and we were the second to arrive of just five total tables we saw that night. Again, a big thanks go out to Scott, Lindsay, and the overnight employee whose name I didn’t get. You really made an effort for us and it made our stay. Overall, we would recommend the hotel and spa for a romantic getaway because of the people and the authentic atmosphere. We would just pass on the restaurants next time, which is a shame because having everything in the same place makes it so much easier to relax.
May 19, 2025 · Kate MlhdWe stayed here one night in the castle. Our room was $357 for the night and it was a dump. We had the Otis room which was spacious enough but old and completely rundown. The room was so hot we tried opening the windows and was only able to get one open only to realize there were no screens. The bed was old, the blinds were broken, the thermostat didn’t work, and the room was dark. Forget about the bathroom. It seemed like it had the same fixtures from the time it was built and the shower was big enough for a person standing 5 ft and weighing 90 pounds. I get that you are staying in a castle that is 136 years old but come on. This room needs serious updates and for what we paid, not worth it. The continental breakfast was not any better. We did not have any meals here but did have drinks in the bar which were good and the wait staff in the bar and at the tasting bar were great. Other than that, I do not recommend staying in the castle.
