LOOK AT MY PICTURES** If I could give this place a 0 I would. The office reeks of curry and dirty feet, I believe the family lives in one of the side rooms at the office. As soon as we walked in we saw dead bugs along the window sill, ceiling, and the following day we found a bed bug. We paid $175 for the room, I complained to the guy at the front desk, he told me they weren't bed bugs and he'd let the owner know. I called the next day and he hung up on me, I warned him I'd make this post, so here it is. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
When local users search for "Hotels Near Me" in the charming and scenic town of Warwick, New York, The Hamlet Inn at Warwick often appears as an option for those seeking a value-oriented stay. Located at 1 Overlook Dr, Warwick, NY 10990, USA, this establishment operates as a small, family-run motel, aiming to provide practical accommodation for travelers exploring the beautiful Hudson Valley region.
The Hamlet Inn at Warwick is situated at 1 Overlook Dr, which provides a convenient base for exploring Warwick and its surrounding attractions. Warwick itself is known for its picturesque landscapes, orchards, wineries, and a quaint downtown area featuring unique shops and restaurants. The inn's location offers relatively easy access to these local highlights, making it a suitable stop for those on a road trip or visiting the area for its seasonal activities.
The environment immediately surrounding the inn is typical of a motel, with parking directly outside the rooms for convenience. While the natural beauty of the Warwick Valley is a draw, the inn itself focuses on functionality rather than expansive grounds or resort-style amenities. The exterior and common areas reflect its nature as a budget-friendly, no-frills lodging option. One review, however, notes a strong odor in the office, describing it as smelling of "curry and dirty feet," which could impact the initial impression upon arrival. There's also a mention of the managing family potentially residing in one of the side rooms near the office, which is characteristic of smaller, family-operated motels.
Despite these observations, the inn's primary environmental appeal lies in its proximity to Warwick's attractions. Guests can easily drive to popular spots like Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery, Applewood Winery, and numerous apple-picking orchards during the fall season. The quaint downtown village, with its shops, eateries, and historic architecture, is also within a short driving distance. For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, nearby parks and hiking trails offer opportunities for recreation.
As a family-run motel, The Hamlet Inn at Warwick focuses on providing essential services and amenities for a comfortable, no-frills stay. The emphasis is on a practical and accessible lodging experience. Key services typically include:
It's important to set expectations for the level of service. As a "value" motel, it typically does not offer extensive amenities found in larger hotels, such as a swimming pool, fitness center, or on-site restaurant (beyond potentially a small snack or coffee area, which is not explicitly mentioned but common for motels of this type). The focus is on providing a clean, functional room for an overnight or short-term stay.
The Hamlet Inn at Warwick offers basic motel-style accommodations, primarily consisting of individual rooms with direct outdoor access. Based on customer feedback, the features of the rooms include:
However, it is crucial to address a very serious concern raised in one detailed review: the finding of "dead bugs along the window sill, ceiling" and, critically, a "bed bug" in the room. This is a significant issue for any accommodation and is a strong warning from a past guest. While another review emphasizes cleanliness and recent refurbishment, the presence of such an issue is a severe deterrent and should be a major consideration for potential guests. The response from the front desk, denying it was a bed bug and later hanging up on the caller, further exacerbates this concern, indicating a potential lack of responsiveness to serious guest complaints.
Therefore, while some features suggest efforts towards comfort and cleanliness (new carpets, beds, functional heating/cooling), the reported pest issue significantly overshadows these positives. Guests prioritizing a clean and pest-free environment, particularly with infants or young children, would need to consider this feedback very carefully.
As a small, family-run motel, The Hamlet Inn at Warwick is less likely to engage in large-scale, elaborate promotional campaigns compared to chain hotels or resorts. Instead, its primary "promotional" appeal lies in its perceived value and affordability, as highlighted by one review that gave it "5 stars for value."
Typical "promotional" aspects for such an establishment would likely focus on:
It's important for potential guests to conduct their own due diligence, perhaps by checking very recent reviews on multiple platforms, given the conflicting nature of the provided feedback. While one guest lauded its value and recent updates, the severe complaint regarding bed bugs and unsatisfactory staff response is a critical piece of information. The promotional message, therefore, must be tempered with an objective understanding of the diverse guest experiences. For travelers seeking a truly budget-conscious option who are comfortable with a more basic motel experience, and after verifying the current pest control status, The Hamlet Inn might be considered. However, the serious nature of one review necessitates caution and thorough investigation before booking.

May 05, 2025 · William WayGreat Value: The Hamlet Inn is not a 5 star hotel, but I'm giving it 5 stars for value. It's a small family run motel The room appeared to have been recently refurbished with new carpets and beds. Everything was clean, the room air system / heater worked well. I checked in very late (arrived after 10pm) and that was no problem.
Dec 03, 2024 · Richard LejeuneIf I could give this hotel 0 stars I absolutely would. This hotel is DISGUSTING. So disgusting that as soon as we walked into the room, we turned around and left and got another hotel. The smell was horrid, carpets dirty. Very uncomfortable setting. DO NOT STAY HERE
Apr 13, 2025 · Kelly CoppingerGo to the next in your list … I will say I was not happy with the stay. The floor, baseboard, walls, tub, microwave and fridge / freezer were all very dirty. The closet door was off the rail. There was a missing floorboard or hole under the carpet by the closet. The air conditioner smells like mildew or mold, which makes the room smell. I knew we were staying in a mom & pop motel. So I didn’t expect new facility, but I did expect the room to be clean. Before I wrote this review I emailed the owner. This was the response, “I appreciate you bringing this to our attention privately so we can take the necessary steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again in the future. We hope you might consider giving us another chance to make things right on a future visit. Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your feedback.” There was no attempt to make it right THIS TIME. Just a hope I spend my money there again. No thanks
Sep 06, 2024 · Laura HullemanOverall was dirty and uncomfortable. Arrived to find that the door to our room had been left open for who knows how long after checking in. They clearly do not clean the bedding and linens well as my partner had to be treated for scabies two days after checking out. Would recommend steering clear unless you have no other options. EDIT: I attempted to have a conversation with the owner after they replied to this review, but they proceeded to argue with me about my stay, and claimed that they weren't able to do a deep clean of my room as I had checked in early, even though we had checked in close to 7:00PM. In the middle of our phone call the owner hung up the phone on me. Overall rude and very unprofessional.
