This was a great little resort, pool table, ping pong, foosball, pool, hot tub, kids pool, sauna, gym, and much more. Can imagine the sky in/out style would be incredible in the winter. Loved staying here in the summer as it’s close to all the Crystal Ridge golf courses and many more nearby. Quiet and quaint, great feel. Slightly outdated rooms, but they work. Can get plenty of food delivered if needed.

The Appalachian at Mountain Creek Introduce

Nestled at the base of Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon Township, New Jersey, The Appalachian at Mountain Creek stands as a prime destination within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, offering a unique blend of resort amenities and the comforts of a condominium rental. Located at 200 NJ-94, Vernon Township, NJ 07462, USA, this property is a gateway to year-round adventure and relaxation in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.

Environment: At the Foot of the Mountain
The Appalachian's environment is intrinsically linked to its location at Mountain Creek Resort. This "condo-tel" offers an unparalleled ski-in/ski-out experience in winter, allowing guests to step directly onto the slopes. In warmer months, the same prime location provides immediate access to mountain biking trails, the water park, and other outdoor pursuits. The building itself provides a "quiet and quaint" atmosphere, offering a pleasant respite after a day of activities. While some interior elements may be "slightly outdated" as noted by guests, the overall "great feel" and convenience of the location are consistently highlighted. The setting provides beautiful mountain and valley views, often from private balconies, immersing guests in the picturesque New Jersey Highlands. The indoor heated parking garage is a particularly valued luxury during the winter season, adding to the convenience for guests.

Services and Accommodations: Condo Comfort with Resort Amenities
The Appalachian positions itself primarily as a short-term condo rental, offering guests the independence and space of a private residence combined with access to resort-style amenities. While the check-in and check-out processes are largely handled online through a guest portal, there is a "front desk" (often located within the mini-mart next to the lobby) for assistance. This setup, while different from a traditional hotel, allows for a more self-sufficient and flexible stay.

The accommodations vary from studios to one, two, and even three-bedroom suites, catering to different group sizes. A common feature across many units is a "galley kitchen" or kitchenette, equipped with essential appliances such as an electric stove, mini-fridge, microwave, and dishwasher, along with "starter sets" of dishwasher detergent, dish soap, paper towels, plates, and cups. Larger suites may feature full kitchens. Many units also boast a gas or electric fireplace, adding a cozy ambiance, and a significant number have private balconies with seating and mountain views. Bedding typically includes king-size beds and pull-out queen-size sofa beds, comfortably accommodating multiple guests. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and cable TV are standard.

While guests appreciate the functionality and space, some have noted minor maintenance needs within units, such as clogged faucet aerators or small wall blemishes. However, these are generally described as "minor blemishes" that do not detract from the overall enjoyment of the stay, especially given the proximity to the ski lift and other attractions. Laundry facilities (coin and app-operated) are available on-site, enhancing convenience for longer stays.

Features: A Hub of Recreation and Relaxation
The Appalachian at Mountain Creek distinguishes itself with an impressive array of on-site features and direct access to the vast recreational offerings of Mountain Creek Resort.

  • Direct Mountain Creek Access: The most significant feature is its "ski-in/ski-out" lodging, which means guests are only steps away from the ski lifts and the Bike/Water Park. This unparalleled convenience is a major draw for winter sports enthusiasts and summer adventurers alike.

  • Pool and Wellness Facilities: The resort offers a large, heated outdoor pool that is open year-round, along with two outdoor hot tubs and a sauna. These amenities provide excellent opportunities for relaxation and rejuvenation after a day on the slopes or trails. A separate "kids pool" ensures fun for younger guests.

  • Game Room & Fitness: For indoor entertainment, there's a game room (which takes coins) equipped with a pool table, ping-pong, and foosball, a hit with families. A well-equipped fitness room with weights and treadmills is also available for guests to maintain their workout routines.

  • Dining & Convenience: While individual units offer kitchen facilities, there is also a café and bar on-site (often referred to as Jack & Otto's), providing convenient dining options. A mini-mart or convenience store is also available for essential needs.

  • Golf Access: For golf enthusiasts, the Appalachian is ideally located "close to all the Crystal Ridge golf courses and many more nearby," making it a perfect base for a golf vacation during the warmer months.

  • Nearby Attractions: The property's location provides easy access to a wider range of activities beyond Mountain Creek. This includes hiking trails, the Appalachian Trail, horseback riding stables, wineries (like Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery), craft beer shops, and even major outlet shopping at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets. For a unique experience, the Warwick Drive-in Movie Theater is also a local favorite. The proximity to towns like Warwick, NY, offers opportunities for exploring charming shops and dining.

  • Secure Parking: The heated underground parking garage is a valuable amenity, especially in winter, providing a secure and convenient place for one vehicle per unit. Additional vehicles may use the general resort parking.

Promotional Information and Guest Impressions:
The Appalachian at Mountain Creek, being a popular destination, frequently offers various packages and promotions, particularly tied to seasonal activities like skiing or summer adventures. Guests should check the official Mountain Creek Resort website or popular booking platforms for current deals on stay-and-play packages, ski passes, or summer activity bundles that often include lodging at the Appalachian.

Customer reviews consistently highlight the resort's "great little resort" feel and its incredible location. The "ski-in/out style would be incredible in the winter," and the convenience for summer activities like the water park, ziplining, and mountain biking is equally praised. The presence of a "quiet and quaint" atmosphere, despite being at a bustling resort, is appreciated. While some guests acknowledge that rooms can be "slightly outdated," the general consensus is that "they work" and the extensive amenities more than compensate. The availability of food delivery services to the units is also a practical benefit mentioned by guests. The overall guest experience leans heavily towards positive, with many emphasizing the perfect location for their mountain adventures, whether hitting the slopes or enjoying summer recreation.

In summary, The Appalachian at Mountain Creek serves as an exceptional choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category for anyone seeking a dynamic and convenient mountain getaway in Vernon, NJ. Its direct access to Mountain Creek Resort's four-season activities, combined with comfortable, well-equipped condominium-style accommodations and a host of on-site recreational facilities, makes it an ideal destination for families, couples, and adventurers looking for a memorable experience in the New Jersey Highlands.

The Appalachian positioned itself as short term condo rental and not hotel, so expecting the usual hotel experience may lead to disappointment. There is a “front desk” hidden in the mini mart next to the lobby but the check-in/check-out process are all handled online through the guest portal. The indoor heated parking garage is a nice luxury during the winter. We stayed at the luxury one bedroom suite and there were electric stove, mini fridge, dishwasher, and a microwave. They provide “starter set” of dishwasher detergent, dish soap, and paper towel as well as plates and cups (see pictures). Our unit could use some maintenance because the faucet aerator was clogged leading to weak stream of water and there were small holes on the bathroom wall where the hairdryer holder should be. However, these minor blemishes does not stop us from enjoying our ski trip staying at the Appalachian with its close proximity to the lift.

We love staying here long weekends with the kids. Rooms are clean and spacious and the views are amazing. The onsite restaurants and amenities are top-notch too!

It was quite better than I expected. I can not believe this was where the infamous Action Park used to be. No wonder it looked so familiar. The room was a great suite. I specifically enjoyed the fireplace, and the outdoor balcony was a fantastic sunset.

Stayed here for two days check in is confusing from the start, but also photos from from site to actual rooms are different now management did fix thats why there's 3 star. But also if your gonna rent . As like a Airbnb would be nice to have basic living thing, ie plunger, working fireplace if that's what you advertise ,more blankets to feel like home. But we didn't have any of that. So beds are so not comfortable. I probably would stay here again and just got book .30 mins into ny state.
