We had a great time at Crystal Springs Resort in New York. The suite on the Lobby floor was spacious and comfortable, and the fireplace in the room was a big hit with our three kids. My wife did the mud treatment at the spa and really enjoyed it. The pool was great, and the food around the resort had a lot of variety and tasted good. We were there for a wedding, and the food spread at the reception was honestly one of the best we’ve seen. Everything felt easy and well put together.

Crystal Springs Resort Introduce

For those exploring "Hotels Near Me" in the picturesque landscape of New Jersey, particularly seeking a comprehensive resort experience, Crystal Springs Resort in Hamburg, NJ, presents itself as a premier destination. Located at 1 Wild Turkey Way, Hamburg, NJ 07419, USA, Crystal Springs is not just a hotel but a sprawling, four-season resort that encompasses a vast array of activities, luxurious accommodations, and diverse dining options, making it a truly unique escape.

Environment and Location

Crystal Springs Resort is nestled in the Kittatinny Mountains of Northwestern New Jersey, offering a serene and scenic environment that feels a world away from the hustle and bustle, yet is conveniently accessible. The resort is designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings, featuring lush landscapes, picturesque golf courses, and opportunities for outdoor activities throughout the year. While one review mistakenly mentions "New York," the resort is firmly located in New Jersey, providing a tranquil and expansive setting.

The resort is comprised of two distinct lodging properties: the luxurious Grand Cascades Lodge and the family-friendly Minerals Hotel. Each offers a different ambiance and set of amenities, catering to diverse preferences. Grand Cascades Lodge, with its sophisticated design and focus on wellness and gourmet experiences, often appeals to couples and groups seeking a more upscale retreat. Minerals Hotel, on the other hand, is known for its extensive family-friendly facilities, including a large indoor sports complex, making it ideal for families with children.

The vastness of the resort means that guests have access to multiple pools, golf courses, spas, and dining venues spread across the property. This expansive layout ensures that despite the numerous offerings, guests can find their own space for relaxation and enjoyment. The natural beauty of the region, including views of the mountains and pristine golf greens, contributes significantly to the resort's tranquil and inviting atmosphere. The overall impression is one of a well-maintained and thoughtfully designed environment that encourages relaxation and recreation.

Services and Amenities

Crystal Springs Resort prides itself on offering an extensive range of services and amenities, designed to cater to every whim and interest. The staff, generally speaking, aims to provide a seamless and enjoyable experience, with many guests praising their attentiveness and helpfulness. However, as with any large resort, service levels can occasionally vary, as noted in some reviews regarding staff attentiveness in dining areas.

A major highlight of the resort is its impressive collection of pools. The Grand Cascades Lodge boasts the Biosphere Pool Complex, a unique indoor/outdoor pool with a retractable roof, lush tropical plants, and a cave-like atmosphere, including a grotto, current pool, and hot tubs. Minerals Hotel features the Minerals Pool, one of the largest indoor pools in the state, along with outdoor heated pools. These aquatic facilities are a big hit with guests of all ages, providing year-round swimming opportunities.

The resort is also home to two world-class spas: Reflections Spa at Grand Cascades Lodge and Elements Spa at Minerals Hotel. Reflections Spa offers a luxurious experience with unique treatments like the "mud treatment" mentioned in a review, and often includes access to a large heated indoor pool, outdoor heated whirlpool, sauna, and steam room. Elements Spa provides a more holistic approach with a focus on natural ingredients and ancient healing techniques. Both spas offer a full menu of massages, facials, and body treatments.

For golf enthusiasts, Crystal Springs Resort is a paradise, featuring six championship golf courses, including the award-winning Ballyowen and Wild Turkey courses. These courses are meticulously maintained and offer stunning views, catering to golfers of all skill levels. Beyond golf, the resort offers a variety of seasonal activities, including skiing and snowboarding at Mountain Creek (a short drive away), hiking, and a family fun center with arcade games and mini-golf. There are also wine tastings and special events held regularly.

Dining is a significant aspect of the Crystal Springs experience, with multiple restaurants and bars across the resort. These range from gourmet fine dining, such as Restaurant Latour (often praised for its wine cellar), to more casual eateries and sports bars. While the variety is commendable, some reviews highlight inconsistencies in food quality, particularly during large events like brunches, noting some dishes as excellent (e.g., Eggs Benedict, ham, lamb, cold station seafood) and others as disappointing (e.g., tough steak, mushy pasta, clumpy chocolate fondue). Drink prices are noted as being on the higher side. Despite these occasional critiques, the overall consensus is that the resort offers a wide range of culinary options to suit various tastes.

Features of the Resort Hotel

The accommodations at Crystal Springs Resort are diverse, with both Grand Cascades Lodge and Minerals Hotel offering distinct features. Grand Cascades Lodge provides a more upscale experience with spacious rooms and suites, many featuring gas fireplaces and private balconies, offering picturesque views. Guests frequently praise the comfort of the beds and the overall cleanliness of the rooms. Suites are particularly spacious, as highlighted by a guest who enjoyed a suite on the Lobby floor with a fireplace that was a hit with their kids. These rooms often include amenities such as flat-screen TVs, minifridges, and luxurious bathrooms.

Minerals Hotel offers a more contemporary and family-friendly atmosphere. Its rooms are also comfortable and well-appointed, with easy access to the sprawling indoor Sports Club facilities, which include basketball courts, indoor tennis, racquetball, and a fitness center. Both hotels offer complimentary Wi-Fi access throughout the property.

Crystal Springs Resort is also a highly sought-after venue for events, particularly weddings and conferences. The resort's multiple ballrooms and event spaces can accommodate gatherings of various sizes, from intimate ceremonies to grand receptions. The wedding food spread, as noted in one review, can be exceptionally good, reflecting the resort's capability to deliver high-quality catering for special occasions. Professional event planning services are available to ensure seamless execution.

Other key features include extensive parking options, often complimentary, and shuttle services to navigate the large property and access various amenities and activities. The sheer scale and variety of on-site activities mean guests can enjoy a full vacation experience without ever leaving the resort property, from golfing and spa treatments to swimming and fine dining.

We just had easter brunch. For the money paid for the emerald room I would not go back. The steak, chicken. vegetable and pasta on the hot table were just bad. I never tried the fish. Vegetables were over cooked. Steak and chicken were tough. The pasta was pure mush. Eggs Benedict was on point as well as the ham and lamb, tender and nice. Cold station was nicely done along with the seafood station. The chocolate fondue was bad. Each chocolate sauce, white and dark was broken and not emulsified, clumpy and oily. No one ate it. I told the waiter but nothing was done. Drinks were pricey. asked for a bloody marie came out of a bottle.... 20 bucks for the drink ....make the mix! There was a ton of staff but they were standing around I had to ask 3 times for dishes to be removed. I used to go to crystal springs with the BMW events. That was ages ago. They were excellent. Not anymore. Not worth it.

On behalf of Mariam and myself, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the entire Crystal Springs team for making our wedding truly the day of our dreams on 4/13. Every detail exceeded our expectations, and we will cherish these memories forever. A special thank you to Sara for your incredible support throughout the entire planning process. We genuinely appreciated your dedication, from responding to calls and texts on weekends to helping us navigate any unexpected needs that came up. Your support meant so much to us. Hector, thank you for all your help on the big day. Your guidance made us feel calm and prepared going into our entrance, which allowed us to be present in the moment and truly enjoy ourselves without added stress. Lina, thank you for being so attentive and helpful with Mariam’s bridal party. Your assistance ensured everything ran smoothly for Mariam and her bridesmaids, making their experience just as special. Katelyn, thank you for making sure we had everything we needed throughout the day—from the first look, to the bridal suite, to ensuring our personal items were safely packed at the end of the night. Your attention to detail and care helped us enjoy every moment, knowing everything was handled. Thank you again to everyone at Crystal Springs for your hard work, kindness, and professionalism. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or a better team to help us celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

A disappointing weekend stay at Crystal Springs Lodge. I booked a weekend for mother's day 3 months prior. I payed in full when I was booking the room plus spa and sip and paint, and I received a confirmation that all was paid and no balance due. The day prior to check in I received an email that I have balance due of over $300. I called the hotel and asked for explanation. I got lady on the phone that could not explain why the difference was and then she transferred me to her Supervisor. Then I found out that the price have changed because they have additional taxes, 10% for each spa plus tips, which was never mentioned at the original booking that there is more hidden fees. When you pay over $1700 for one night for room, and you receive confirmation that all is paid and there is no balance due at the time of the reservation, you expect decent and reliable service. Well, apparently that's not the case here. The room was for 4 guests, in the room you had 2 tiny bottles of water and 2 coffee bags, which 1 was decaffeinated. When I go around very different resorts and hotels there are alway basic toiletries, well not at this hotel. Also, the web site states so many restaurants available, but in reality only 2 were available for Saturday night and were packed. For lunch time we received rotten fruit bowl, literally there was fungus on raspberries that no one seamed to notice when they carried out the bowl, white covering all over them. The wait for food is awful and there is nothing offered for the waiting time. Very disappointing experience, definitely not worth over $2000 for one night. I am very confused what is the fee actually covering? I guess is just the room, bed and bathroom inside. Food is being charged separately, nothing is included. Total rip off!!! Again, will not recommend to anyone!!! Money wasted!!!!!

When we checked in and we’re giving our room, there was a strong odor of urine in the room. We called to the front and had a maid come to clean up as best she could (she also experienced the strong odor). After that, the room smelled strongly of cleaning supplies. We then tried to enjoy some of the activities on the resort. However, there were two weddings being conducted, and the services and activities available were very few since most of the staff was busy working on the weddings. There was supposed to be an ax throwing activity, but when we went there, there was nobody there to conduct the activity. After asking at the front desk, we were told there was a person there in plain sight and we must’ve missed him. Upon our return there, we did see him there, but he was definitely not there before. We didn’t feel like going to the indoor pool after experiencing the unclean room that we have been given. Plus, there were many kids running around so we were not in the mood to see the cleanliness or lack there of anywhere else on the resort. We went back to the front and ask them to refund our money so that we can go home. It’s a very expensive resort if you are not gonna have any activities to do. Not to mention, the rooms were very depressing and outdated looking. This is on our NOT to do list.. Unless you’re going golfing or using any of their exorbitant priced spa services , this place isn’t something to experience. It’s a pass for me. UPDATE: my money was refunded and Mike did reach out to me and we discussed the experience and he is working to resolve the issues.
