Kinda out the way for someone without a car BUT the staff is great. Extremely EASY check in. Less than 5 minutes at the desk. Presented my reservation confirmation, my identification, signed the required agreement, then given my key. More than decently sized room that was spotless. Housekeeping is A+. There is a INDOOR pool area with a jacuzzi in the same area. A+++ There is an adjourning work out area fully mirrored on one side of the room that includes both astationary sled machine and free weights from 10-50 lbs. Plenty of towels throughout and are replenished as much as needed. This is a location i will revisit when in the area.

The Inn on Storrs Introduce

Positioned as a lodging option within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, The Inn on Storrs offers a straightforward and amenity-focused stay in Mansfield Center, CT. Located at 123 Storrs Rd, Mansfield Center, CT 06250, USA, this hotel provides a practical base for travelers visiting the area. Guests can reach the hotel directly at (860) 423-8451 or via mobile at +1 860-423-8451.

Environment and Location:

The Inn on Storrs is situated in Mansfield Center, Connecticut, a location that offers both a degree of tranquility and convenient access to key local points of interest. Its address on Storrs Road places it on a main thoroughfare, making it relatively easy to find. The most significant aspect of its location is its proximity to the University of Connecticut (UConn) campus. This makes it an attractive choice for prospective students, visiting families, alumni, or individuals attending university events. While directly on a road, the hotel's setting aims for a balance between accessibility and a less urban feel. For guests without a car, getting around might be challenging, as indicated by one review. However, for those with personal transportation, the location provides a good springboard for exploring the wider Mansfield and Storrs area. Nearby attractions include the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry, J. Robert Donnelly Gallery, and the William Benton Museum of Art, all within a few miles at the UConn campus. For outdoor enthusiasts, Mansfield Hollow State Park is also relatively close, offering opportunities for hiking, fishing, and boating. The immediate surroundings are generally quiet, allowing for a peaceful night's rest, though as with any roadside hotel, some ambient noise from traffic may be present. The property benefits from being in a community with local dining options and amenities, though specific details of immediate walkability are not extensively highlighted.

Services and Amenities:

The Inn on Storrs is equipped with a range of services and amenities designed to enhance guest comfort and convenience. A notable feature for leisure and relaxation is the indoor pool area, which includes a jacuzzi. This is often highlighted by guests as a significant positive, providing an opportunity for recreation regardless of the weather. Adjacent to the pool area, the hotel offers a well-equipped fitness center. This area is described as fully mirrored and includes both a stationary sled machine and free weights ranging from 10 to 50 lbs, catering to various workout preferences. Ample towels are provided and regularly replenished in this area. Guest rooms are generally described as being of a decent size and, in positive reviews, are noted for being spotless, with housekeeping receiving high praise. Each room is expected to include essential amenities such as air conditioning, a television, and a private bathroom. The hotel offers complimentary Wi-Fi access, which is a standard expectation for modern travelers. For convenience, check-in is typically described as extremely easy and quick, often taking less than five minutes. The hotel provides parking for guests on-site. While the hotel aims to be accommodating, it's important to note the significant negative feedback regarding its stance on service animals and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). One detailed review specifically outlines an unauthorized charge for a trained service dog and a challenging interaction with management, citing legal non-compliance regarding service animals. This is a critical point for any guest traveling with a service animal to consider. Information regarding complimentary breakfast or dining options within the hotel is not consistently available across all sources, so guests may need to verify this directly with the hotel. Specific room types and their detailed amenities are not always listed, but guests can generally expect basic comforts. The hotel emphasizes a smoke-free environment, though one review reported a cigarette smell in a "smoke-free" room.

Features:

The core features of The Inn on Storrs revolve around its recreational facilities and the perceived cleanliness of its rooms. The indoor pool and jacuzzi are definite highlights, offering a popular amenity for guests of all ages. The fitness center, with its varied equipment, caters to health-conscious travelers. The ease and speed of the check-in process are frequently praised, contributing to a smooth start to the stay. The reported cleanliness of the rooms and the diligence of the housekeeping staff are strong positive points, indicating a commitment to guest comfort in this area. However, the hotel's features are significantly overshadowed by the critical issue raised concerning ADA compliance and the treatment of service animals. This aspect, if accurate, represents a serious concern and a potential legal issue that would impact a hotel's reputation and suitability for guests with disabilities. The hotel's management's response to this situation, as described in the review, also points to a significant flaw in customer service and adherence to legal guidelines. While positive feedback on room cleanliness and amenities exists, this highly negative experience regarding ADA compliance is a crucial feature to consider when evaluating the hotel. The hotel's general design and amenities aim to provide a comfortable, mid-range experience, making it a functional choice for short stays or for those on a budget who value recreational facilities.

Promotional Information and Considerations:

When appearing in the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, The Inn on Storrs likely promotes its convenient location near UConn, its indoor pool and jacuzzi, and its fitness facilities as key attractions. The ease of check-in and the reputation for clean rooms would also be part of its promotional message, aiming to appeal to travelers seeking a hassle-free and comfortable stay. For those visiting the University, the hotel’s proximity is a definite selling point, saving travel time and enhancing convenience. The recreational amenities offer an added value, differentiating it from more basic accommodations. However, prospective guests, especially those with service animals or mobility needs, must be acutely aware of the serious allegations regarding ADA non-compliance and the reported difficulties with management regarding service animals. This is a critical piece of information that significantly impacts the hotel's suitability for a certain segment of travelers. While some reviews highlight positive aspects such as staff interaction and room cleanliness, the severe negative feedback on accessibility and adherence to legal requirements for service animals cannot be overlooked. Therefore, while The Inn on Storrs might be a practical choice for some due to its location and recreational amenities, it is highly advisable for potential guests, particularly those with disabilities or service animals, to thoroughly investigate and directly confirm the hotel's current policies and adherence to ADA regulations before booking. The price point, while not explicitly stated for all dates, should be weighed against the reported issues to determine overall value. The hotel’s aim is to provide a comfortable stay, but the discrepancies in guest experiences necessitate a careful consideration of all available information.

Unfortunately I will not recommend this inn to anyone. It is not clean, smells like cigarettes (even though the room was labeled as smoke free) and management is a joke. The inn is not in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and does not allow trained service dogs (illegal). We had my fiancée's seizure and mobility service dog with us, which the inn was informed of and they proceeded to charge (without authorization, let alone notice) a $250 pet fee, which they legally cannot do per the ADA. The service dog was respectful of the property and did not cause any disturbance nor destroy anything or make any mess. Management has continued to argue despite being informed of their illegal actions and the ADA. The department of justice has been informed and a lawyer is now being involved. Unless you would like to experience a similar situation, I'd advise to stay far away from this establishment.

I stayed one night at this Inn. I had NO hot water in the morning and was NOT given a refund. The manager stated she never had given a refund in 18 years. She was very defensive and rude. Expected me to understand that she did not control the electric nor water system therefore I was just to deal with it. There are better area inns that treat customers with courtesy than this business.

My stay at The Inn on Storrs was nothing short of amazing! Jenilu was the sweetest! She was attentive, accommodating and welcoming. She went above and beyond to let us check in early and even told the cleaning crew to stay quiet as we slept during the day because we traveled all night. The hotel is in a great location, it’s very clean and new! Beds were really comfortable and the bathrooms were extremely clean, modern, with great lighting and hot water. I have nothing but great things to say about the customer service and hotel. I highly recommend staying here! Thank you Jenilu for your hospitality and kindness.

This establishment is not in conduct with the Americans with disabilities act and is not an accommodating establishment. It has been reported to the Department of Justice. I own a seizure & mobility service dog, that is required by law to accompany me, and is considered federally as medical equipment. He has been task trained to the highest standards. This establishment, even though I advised (which I do not have to do) that I have a service dog, they charged my card (without authorization) a $250 pet fee, which legally they cannot do, per the FAQ on the ADA. I called to speak to the manager and they continued to argue with me in regards to this and said they would call me tomorrow, it has been 42 hours since our first point of contact, and now I have to resolve to bringing this to the attention of police, lawyers and the department of justice. Apart of all of that, the room was old, dingy & smelled like cigarettes. The carpet had not been cleaned and was giving my fiancé and I, allergies all weekend long. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone, I’d rather sleep in my vehicle.
