First time to stay. We booked a night for our wedding anniversary. It’s a pleasant surprise to see in our room a beautiful bouquet of flowers and happy anniversary greeting sign. Thank you! We enyoyed touring the house inside and outdoors. There were numerous paintings around the house. Some were quiet old. Many were on sale. Our room was spacious, with king size bed, exquisite fireplace. It did look old of course, but some of the fixtures did not seem to fit well with the overall style, and few things needed some overdue maintenance… We also preferred to have handheld shower head aside from or instead of a fixed overhead one. The service were first rate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had pleasant chat with the butler and the gardeners. The location was perfect for our overall plan. It’s close to the museums, universities, parks.

The Mansions On Fifth Luxury Hotel Introduce

For those discerning travelers searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" that offer a unique blend of historic elegance and modern luxury in Pittsburgh, The Mansions On Fifth Luxury Hotel presents an unparalleled experience. Located at 5105 Fifth Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15232, USA, this exquisite property is not merely a place to stay, but a destination in itself. It embodies the grandeur of Pittsburgh's Gilded Age, promising a memorable stay whether for leisure, a special occasion, or a sophisticated business trip.

Environment and Location

The Mansions On Fifth Luxury Hotel is nestled in the prestigious Shadyside neighborhood, specifically on what was once known as "Millionaire's Row" along Fifth Avenue. This historic setting immediately sets it apart, offering guests a glimpse into Pittsburgh's opulent past. The hotel itself is comprised of two magnificent, turn-of-the-century mansions – the larger "Fifth Avenue House" (completed in 1906) and the adjacent, slightly smaller "Amberson House." Both were originally commissioned by prominent attorney and industrialist Willis McCook, showcasing Elizabethan Revivalist and Tudor architectural styles. The meticulous preservation of original features, including stunning carved woodwork, leaded and stained glass windows (some by Rudy Brothers Art Glass), Rookwood Ceramic Tile fireplaces, and intricate ironwork by Cyril Colnik, transports guests to an era of unparalleled craftsmanship.

Shadyside is a tranquil yet sophisticated East End neighborhood, offering a serene escape from the urban bustle while remaining conveniently close to Pittsburgh's major attractions. The hotel's location is ideal for visitors to the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, as well as the renowned museums and cultural institutions in the Oakland area, such as the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and the beautiful Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Guests can enjoy exploring the tree-lined streets of Shadyside, with its charming boutiques, diverse dining options, and leafy parks, all within easy reach. The ambiance of the hotel and its surroundings cultivates a sense of refined tranquility, perfect for a relaxing getaway or a focused business trip. The property has consistently been recognized for its unique historical ambiance and quiet atmosphere, even winning "Best B&B Style Hotel" by Pittsburgh Magazine Readers in 2024.

Services and Amenities

The Mansions On Fifth provides a first-rate service experience, often highlighted by guests who praise the friendly, helpful, and anticipatory staff, including butlers and event coordinators. The hotel offers 22 individually decorated guest rooms and suites spread across its two mansions, each exuding historic charm while providing modern comforts. Rooms feature premium bedding, pillow-top beds, down duvets, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, iPod docks, laptop-compatible safes, and complimentary wired and wireless internet access. Private bathrooms include designer toiletries and shower/bathtub combinations, often with hydromassage showerheads, though some guests have expressed a preference for handheld showerheads. Some suites also feature jetted tubs and fireplaces, adding to the luxurious feel. The Presidential Suite, for instance, offers nearly 1,000 square feet of living space with two separate bedrooms and baths.

Dining at The Mansions is a key part of its appeal. The Oak Room Pub, a classic hotel bar located on the first floor, offers a cozy atmosphere, a selection of wines and liquors from its century-old wine cellar, and light fare. It is open to the public on select evenings and often features live music and various events like wine flights and whiskey tastings. The hotel also serves a daily à la carte breakfast menu in the Oak Room Pub or Parlor breakfast room, providing fresh, chef-prepared meals. Guests can expect a "grab and go" breakfast option as well. Room service is available for guests who prefer to dine in the comfort of their exquisite rooms. For fitness enthusiasts, there is a 24-hour fitness center on-site. The hotel also boasts a beautiful outdoor terrace and a library, perfect for relaxation. Unique services like in-room massage services are available upon request. Valet parking is generally included, especially for larger events, and complimentary self-parking is also available for guests on site.

A significant aspect of The Mansions On Fifth is its extensive event capabilities. With a total of over 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the stunning Grand Hall with its high, wood-beamed ceilings and magnificent leaded glass windows, the hotel is a premier venue for weddings, receptions, corporate gatherings, and other special occasions. The dedicated team, including event coordinators, chefs, and service staff, is frequently lauded for their professionalism and ability to create seamless and memorable events. Reviewers consistently praise the event staff for their professionalism and seamless execution of events.

Features and Unique Aspects

The most defining feature of The Mansions On Fifth is its historical authenticity and the exquisite preservation of its Gilded Age architecture and interiors. It offers a truly immersive experience, distinct from typical modern hotels. Each room is unique, adorned with period antiques and quality reproductions, some even featuring original fireplaces. The hotel's commitment to personalized service, exemplified by its butler service (available from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.) and attentive staff, elevates the guest experience to a luxurious level. The art collection displayed throughout the hotel, with some pieces available for sale, adds to the sophisticated ambiance. The property has even served as a filming location for productions like Netflix's "The Pale Blue Eye." The original stained glass by Rudy Brothers Art Glass and ironwork by Cyril Colnik are notable artistic details that enhance the historic charm.

While the historic nature contributes greatly to its charm, it's worth noting some guest feedback. While rooms are spacious, some fixtures might appear aged or in need of minor maintenance, and the older construction can occasionally mean that some modern conveniences (like a handheld showerhead) are not standard. However, the overall consensus is that the character and exceptional service heavily outweigh these minor points. The hotel's dedication to sustainability practices also adds to its appeal for environmentally conscious travelers. The two mansions are just 15 feet apart, maintaining a cohesive yet distinct feel between the "Fifth Avenue House" and the "Amberson House."

Promotional Information and Considerations

The Mansions On Fifth Luxury Hotel offers various packages to enhance guest stays and caters to specific needs. These include seasonal packages, "Day at the Museum" packages, "Dinner Date Night" packages, "Discover Oakland" packages, and "Romance, Romance" packages, among others. These packages can offer valuable inclusions such as complimentary valet parking and discounted rates. For weddings and events, the hotel provides comprehensive packages, such as the "Celebration," "Grand," and "Gold" packages, which often include passed hors d'oeuvres, dinner options (plated or stations-style), premium open bar, wedding cake, and complimentary valet parking. They also offer special incentives for Friday and Sunday weddings, often with relaxed minimums and discounted rates. Event pricing generally ranges from $95 to $148 per person, with a required food and beverage minimum of $5,000.00. Guests should always contact the hotel directly at (412) 381-5105 or +1 412-381-5105, or visit their official website for the most up-to-date promotional offers and to inquire about specific booking requirements or event availability. The hotel also hosts public events, including music performances and special dining nights, which can be found on their website.

Prospective guests should be aware that while the hotel aims for perfection, some guests have noted minor maintenance issues in rooms or inconsistent dining service for individual meals compared to large events. However, the overwhelming majority of reviews emphasize the hotel's beauty, prime location, and exceptional staff as its strongest attributes. The property is generally not pet-friendly, except for service animals, which is a point for pet owners to consider. All events must conclude by 10:00 p.m. due to neighborhood curfews, and street parking is permit-only, necessitating the use of the hotel's parking facilities. For those seeking an elegant, historically rich, and service-oriented accommodation that distinguishes itself from standard chain hotels, The Mansions On Fifth Luxury Hotel is a premier choice in Pittsburgh, perfectly fitting the search for an upscale "Hotels Near Of Me" experience.

The entire team at Mansions on Fifth was incredible and made our wedding experience beautiful and stress-free. I couldn't have asked for a more professional and put-together event coordinator than Marissa. She made us feel secure that everything would go off without a hitch! Chef Steve and his team cooked incredible hors d'oeuvres and our guests were raving about the alfredo tortellini! Bill made our guests' reservations, check-in, and check-out experience smooth. Rick managed the valet so that there were no issues with guests arriving and departing, and he made the venue look beautiful before our event. Anthony was able to anticipate guests' needs and provided excellent service during the dinner and reception (plus he made snacks for my maid of honor at the end of the night- really above and beyond). Devin was the life of the bar, and my guests enjoyed giving him drink requests and watching him creatively mix up new cocktails! The experience we had was priceless, although the venue was also a great value for the level of service and care we received. Plus, many items were included as part of our McCook Package, which made the experience even more hassle-free. I would highly recommend this venue!

My husband & I love this place and visit there once a year or so. Love the cleanliness & beauty & the history & that castle like feel. Loved the room we stayed in was like the size of an apartment. When they have events is only issue we found with parking and wading through people standing all over the lobby which made it difficult to get to the stairs we needed to go to our room. Staff is friendly. Management was difficult to reach though when they made a mistake during our check out. We purchased the robes and absolutely love them. I give them 5 stars because it is a beautiful place and is always a quiet nights sleep.

As a wedding photographer, I was incredibly impressed with Mansion on Fifth! Zack and the entire staff were exceptionally helpful and professional during a wedding I had this month. The venue is stunning - like a hidden castle in Pittsburgh with perfect photography spots inside and out. The elegant spaces, combined with their attentive service, made capturing beautiful moments effortless. Highly recommend this venue to couples and fellow photographers alike!

The worst experience I have ever had. 1. It should be one of the best hotel in Pittsburgh, but it’s not. 2. The queen room and king room’s price is very very close, 20 dollar difference. But the room is much smaller. 3. Amenities are not the same level as the 4-star. 4. I am very disappointed on the service, I left my charger at the hotel, they agreed to ship it to me. After 3 weeks, they did nothing. 5. Toilet in the room was broken, they did nothing on it. 6. Please go for something regular, it is not a boutique hotel.
