I needed a place to stay for 10 days while repairs were being done on my house in Madison. I looked at two other motels in the area before checking with Tower Inn and Suites. The owner was at the reception desk and offered me a kitchenette suite at the price of a double. The suite had a sitting area, desk, and a kitchenette with microwave, minifridge, drawers for food storage and sink. The shower-tub had good shower pressure (not something I take for granted after working a job that required frequent travel). There was a flat screen TV with a decent cable package offering most of the cable channels I watch. I had to change dates of my stay twice due to repair delays, and the owner let me do so at the same rate. Based on its location, amenities, service, and cost, I think Tower Inn and Suites is the best value motel on the Shoreline.

This allows guests to experience the quaint New England atmosphere of Guilford. Other nearby attractions include the Hyland House Museum (1.07 miles) and the Henry Whitfield State Museum (1.09 miles), catering to those interested in local history. For dining options, guests will find several restaurants within close walking distance, including the Shoreline Diner & Vegetarian Enclave, First Garden Chinese Restaurant, and The Whole Enchilada - Guilford. Further out, there are options like Bishop's Orchards Farm Market & Winery. The hotel is also within a reasonable driving distance to larger cities like New Haven (approximately 20 minutes drive), home to Yale University (15 miles away), offering additional shopping, dining, and entertainment opportunities. The immediate environment is characteristic of a roadside motel, with surrounding commercial establishments, providing convenience for necessities. The property features outdoor parking, which is complimentary for guests.
Tower Inn & Suites primarily offers suite-style accommodations designed for convenience and extended stays. A key feature is the availability of kitchenette suites. These typically include a microwave, mini-fridge, sink, and drawers for food storage, providing guests the option to prepare their own meals. Some rooms also feature a separate sitting area and a desk, catering to both relaxation and work needs. All rooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs offering a decent cable package, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and in all rooms. Bathrooms generally include a shower-tub combination, with one guest specifically noting good shower pressure. The hotel provides daily housekeeping. The front desk operates 24 hours, offering assistance to guests at any time, including check-in guidance. Amenities like air conditioning in public areas and rooms, heating, and vending machines are also available. For guests who may need to withdraw cash, an on-site ATM is provided. The hotel emphasizes a smoke-free property, though a designated smoking area is available. Safety features include carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, first aid kits, and window guards. While some listings mention a "restaurant," guest reviews do not consistently support the presence of a full-service, on-site restaurant, though a diner is located directly across the street. It is important to note that, according to multiple sources, the hotel does not have a pool or hot tub, and it generally does not allow pets, despite some older or conflicting information that might suggest otherwise. Free cribs/infant beds are available on request, catering to families with young children. The property also adheres to some basic physical distancing and cleaning protocols.
The defining characteristics of Tower Inn & Suites revolve around its value proposition and the inclusion of kitchenette facilities in many of its rooms. The presence of these kitchenettes is a significant feature, especially for guests on longer stays or those who prefer to cook their own meals. The complimentary Wi-Fi and free ample parking also contribute to its overall value. Positive guest feedback frequently highlights the spaciousness of the suites, the good shower pressure, and the friendly nature of the owner and staff. One guest specifically praised the owner for accommodating date changes at the same rate, indicating a degree of flexibility and good customer service from management in certain situations. The hotel's family-owned status is often mentioned as contributing to a personal touch. However, it's crucial to acknowledge the conflicting feedback regarding room conditions. While some reviews praise cleanliness and comfort, others describe rooms as "disgusting," with "stains on every fabric," and a "musty smell," asserting that the online pictures do not accurately represent the reality. This disparity in cleanliness and room quality is a significant feature that potential guests must consider. Furthermore, there's a noted discrepancy between online advertised prices and actual call-in booking rates, with some guests reporting significantly higher prices upon direct inquiry. This variability in guest experience and pricing is a notable characteristic of the property.
Within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, Tower Inn & Suites would likely promote itself as a cost-effective choice for those visiting Guilford and the surrounding Shoreline area. The emphasis would be on its spacious kitchenette suites, offering a home-like feel and the convenience of self-catering. Its prime location on Boston Post Road, with easy access to I-95, beaches, and local attractions like Guilford Green, would also be key promotional points. The positive experiences with the owner and staff, particularly regarding flexibility and service, would be highlighted to attract guests. However, prospective guests are strongly advised to carefully consider the conflicting reviews regarding cleanliness and the discrepancy in pricing. While some guests found it to be the "best value motel on the Shoreline," others experienced significant issues with room conditions that did not match online representations. It is highly recommended that potential guests verify current pricing directly with the hotel and inquire about the specific condition of the room they will be assigned. For travelers prioritizing a budget-friendly option with kitchenette facilities and a convenient location, and who are willing to manage potential variations in room quality, Tower Inn & Suites could be a consideration. However, those with higher expectations for consistent cleanliness and adherence to advertised online pricing should proceed with caution and potentially look at more recent guest feedback or photos. The hotel appears to appeal to guests looking for a functional, extended-stay type of accommodation, but the "motel" feel and inconsistent room quality should be factored into any booking decision.

Jan 22, 2025 · Paul PorterOnline prices were $103 a night. When I called to book it ended up being $170 for each room. The workers were nice but the rooms were disgusting and nothing like the pictures online. This is a motel the only thing that makes it a suite is the coffee machine. Stains on every fabric and a musty smell.
Jul 03, 2023 · Taylor FolsomEverything was amazing! The only bad part about it was that the coffee machine broke while we were using it. Everything was clean and shiny. The floor is really comfortable! There are many ways to get to the bathroom which is one good thing. Service was great! We all felt really nice and relaxed. Thank you for your great service!
Oct 24, 2021 · Claudio ZhumiWe were really helped out in the check in process as we had a wedding and needed to check in a little early. The front desk worked with us and got us in so we could avoid changing into wedding clothes in the car and 95 degree heat. Paid a small fee for this but worth it. The location is close to the water. The rooms were your basic 2 star hotel rooms and a fine place to rest your head but don't expect anything fancy.
Jul 29, 2022 · HailI arrived at the inn at 2:30 and checked in. When I went into my room, it hadn't been cleaned. I spoke to the guy at the front desk and he said "oh, well your check-in time is 3. He's going to go clean it now." I was skeptical because the room was a suite and there was no way it would be sufficiently cleaned in 30 minutes, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I left and when I came back at 2:55, the cleaning guy was just walking up to my room and hadn't even started to clean it. I explained to the front desk manager that I had a wedding rehearsal at 4 and needed to get ready, and requested a different room, telling him I was fine with a downgrade and they could refund me the difference. He said that they couldn't do that because they were fully booked. My room wasn't ready until 3:40! The front desk manager never apologized or offered any kind of restitution, and was generally rude and smug. The room itself was fine - nothing special, a little dingy but not awful. However, there were a lot of bugs, specifically silverfish and ants. I woke up the morning of check-out and there was one in the shower, so I said "eff it" and decided to just leave. When I went to check out at 8:30am, there was no one in the office. I waited around for 5 minutes and ended up just leaving the key on the desk and peacing out.
