Charming but Flawed Our stay at the Water’s Edge in Racine had some positives, but also several disappointing and concerning aspects. The rooms were freshly updated, smelled clean, and had a charming feel. However, the hallways were dim and gave off a slightly eerie vibe, which wasn’t the most welcoming. A major safety issue was that the side doors didn’t fully latch and could be pulled open from the outside — allowing anyone to enter without a key or going through the lobby. That made us feel very uneasy, especially at night. We also discovered that the bar advertised online has been closed since December 2024 due to not having hired a bartender — something we weren’t aware of until arrival. It was one of the things that drew us in, so that was a letdown. If you’re staying on the first floor, note that the windows are not one-way. If you open your blinds for natural light or to enjoy the view, people walking by can see straight into your room — which made it feel far from private. The riverfront location had potential, but the view was mostly blocked by overgrown vegetation. There’s very little nearby in terms of food, and while it looks like they once had a pool, it’s now just a filled-in patch of dirt. The nearby dam was cool to see and a small highlight, but overall, the stay didn’t live up to expectations. With better maintenance, clearer advertising, and improved security, this place could shine — but for now, it needs some work.

Jul 15, 2025 · Samantha LarsonWe arrived to find overgrown weeds at the entrance — not a great first impression, but we were willing to overlook it for a one-night stay. Upon check-in, we were asked to initial a document essentially promising we wouldn’t do anything that might require police involvement. That was... unsettling. Then I stepped out of the car and found an empty hemp cigar wrapper right by the room. Inside, the room had a musty odor and the carpet was noticeably damp — a major issue since three of the four of us have asthma. We returned immediately to the front desk, explained we couldn’t stay, and the clerk canceled our room. However, when we followed up through our booking source (Delta), the hotel refused to authorize a refund. This experience was disappointing, not just for the condition of the property, but for the lack of accountability. I’ve contacted Delta and Wyndham to request a refund of $161.63 and hope that others will be warned before booking.
Jul 23, 2025 · Paula GriffithTravel lodge does not assist with vision issues. I’ve asked for a few accommodations the help me out because my eyes are not so great, like a chair to sit in the middle of the room to watch tv, because the bed and couch are weirdly not even close to the super small tv. Nobody was rude just not helpful, was offered no discount or any resolution to the issues. I check in for a week, brought my stuff up to the room and couldn’t get in. Went downstairs to get the cards fixed, was told they are all broken and given an actual key. Went back up, put my stuff in the room and then the tv didn’t work. Went back downstairs to resolve the situation, which couldn’t be and so they moved me to a different room. Went to the second room and again, cards didn’t work, went back downstairs and was told that the maintenance guys was suppose to fix them and was given a key. Went back to the room and got completely unpacked and then the ac wouldn’t turn down past 78. So I went back downstairs, was moved into a third room. Went back to the second room and proceeded to move everything between rooms. The room itself has a nice view past the construction and garbage that sits behind the building. Very nice river and waterfall that goes under the bridge. All 3 rooms were different some had big dressers underneath their ridiculously smalls tv’s, some had tables and most were beat up and kinda gross. My carpet has stains all over it and food on the walls from past guests. Beside the fire alarm going off from 12-1230 one night, asking for a room clean 2 days in a. Row and not getting, no t.p, hard to get towels, no breakfast, awful WiFi, thin walls to hear your neighbors music and activities, I don’t think I would recommend this hotel . Thanks for the generic response, your hotel is god awful.
Apr 17, 2025 · B DeshootWe were traveling to Milwaukee and stayed the night here. We're a little nervous about staying here from reading the reviews. I think the room was haunted. The speaker phone on the room phone turned on in the middle of the night and scared the crap out of me. Someone jiggled the room door handle and tried to scan their card, luckily it didn't let them in. Oy vey. Glad to leave when the sun came up.
Aug 01, 2025 · Elizabeth Seitz (Peeper)People smoke pot inside their rooms. Halls smell like weed and the staff don't seem interested in doing anything about it. Doors to outside don't close tight so anyone off the street can get in. Had I realized this before paying for 4 nights I would have stayed someplace else.
