The carpet in the halls should be replaced. They smell like smoke. The elevator is a little scary. The room is clean and fortunately does NOT smell like smoke. The bath towels were nice and soft/fluffy The walls are too thin. I could hear people walking in the halls. I was woke up to people having sex for 30 minutes at 3 am. Then my neighbor was throwing up at 6 am. Gross! I never thought I was a light sleeper. So if you are, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Breakfast was okay but wish they had a waffle maker. The employees are nice and friendly except they shouldn’t cuss when guests with kids are having breakfast. The guests staying here were very sketchy. I wish I paid a little more and stayed at the Hampton. I guess I learned you get what you eat for.
For individuals utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform to find accommodations in the Pittsburgh area, the Wingate by Wyndham Pittsburgh/West Mifflin is an option located at 1340 Lebanon Church Rd, West Mifflin, PA 15236, USA. This hotel can be contacted at (412) 653-6600 or via mobile at +1 412-653-6600. As part of the Wyndham family of brands, Wingate hotels typically aim to offer a balance of comfort, convenience, and value for both business and leisure travelers. An objective introduction requires a look at its environment, services, features, and an honest consideration of actual guest experiences.
The environment of the Wingate by Wyndham Pittsburgh/West Mifflin places it in a suburban setting, specifically in West Mifflin, which is a borough located southeast of downtown Pittsburgh. This location offers convenient access to local attractions such as Kennywood Amusement Park, The Waterfront shopping and entertainment complex, and is within a reasonable driving distance of downtown Pittsburgh (approximately 10 miles away). The hotel is situated off PA-885 (Lebanon Church Road), providing easy vehicular access for travelers. While the immediate surroundings are not explicitly detailed in the reviews, one can generally expect a mix of commercial properties and residential areas, typical of a suburban thoroughfare. A guest mentioned that there are "not many restaurants, convenience stores around," suggesting that while there might be some nearby, a car is likely needed to access a broader range of dining and shopping options.
The services and features offered by the Wingate by Wyndham Pittsburgh/West Mifflin aim to provide a comfortable stay. Each non-smoking guest room is generally equipped with a microwave, mini-refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, ironing amenities, a desk, hairdryer, bath products, and a flat-screen TV with premium cable channels. Reviews note that rooms were "clean and comfortable," and the "bath towels were nice and soft/fluffy," indicating attention to these basic comforts. Rooms typically include a private bathroom with a shower/tub combination. The hotel underwent a complete renovation in June 2021, which should contribute to improved room conditions and overall property aesthetics. Free in-room Wi-Fi is a standard amenity, keeping guests connected during their stay.
A key feature of many Wingate by Wyndham properties, including this one, is the complimentary breakfast. The hotel offers a daily buffet breakfast, typically served between 5:30 AM and 9:30 AM. This can include items like eggs, muffins, cereal, and other selections. However, one guest specifically wished they "had a waffle maker," indicating that the breakfast spread, while complimentary, might not be as extensive as some guests prefer. Other amenities include a 24/7 gym for guests to maintain their fitness routines, though one review noted that the fitness facility might be closed on certain days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday), which guests should confirm if this amenity is critical to their stay. The hotel also features a business center and meeting space, catering to business travelers. Free self-parking is available on site, including RV/bus/truck parking, which is a practical convenience. The front desk is open 24 hours, ensuring assistance is always available. The hotel is also pet-friendly, allowing pets for an additional charge (typically $25 per pet, per day), with service animals exempt from fees.
However, customer feedback presents a mixed picture, with some significant drawbacks mentioned. While staff are generally described as "nice and friendly," one reviewer noted inappropriate language from employees ("shouldn’t cuss when guests with kids are having breakfast"). More critically, several issues related to the hotel's environment and the guest experience beyond the individual room have been raised. The "carpet in the halls should be replaced" and "smell like smoke," creating an unpleasant first impression. The elevator was described as "a little scary," suggesting maintenance or aesthetic concerns. Noise is a significant problem, with thin walls allowing guests to hear "people walking in the halls," and more disturbingly, being "woke up to people having sex for 30 minutes at 3 am" and a neighbor "throwing up at 6 am." This severely impacts the ability to get a restful night's sleep, making it unsuitable for light sleepers. Furthermore, one guest mentioned finding "stuff left in nightstand drawer from previous people's stay," indicating a lapse in thorough room cleaning. The description of other guests as "very sketchy" suggests a broader concern about the clientele or overall atmosphere, which can detract from a comfortable stay.
These issues lead some guests to feel that the hotel's value is not aligned with its price, wishing they had "paid a little more and stayed at the Hampton." The phrase "you get what you pay for" encapsulates the sentiment that despite the initial affordability, the overall experience might compromise on quality and comfort. While the hotel attempts to provide a solid array of amenities for its price point, the consistency of maintenance, cleanliness in common areas, and noise control appear to be areas needing significant improvement based on these reviews.
In terms of promotional information, as a Wyndham property, the Wingate by Wyndham Pittsburgh/West Mifflin participates in the Wyndham Rewards loyalty program, allowing guests to earn and redeem points for stays. Wyndham frequently offers various promotions, including discounts for booking in advance, special rates for AAA and AARP members, and exclusive offers for Wyndham Rewards members, such as percentage discounts on multi-night stays. Travelers looking for deals should check the official Wyndham Hotels & Resorts website or utilize online travel agencies for current promotions. The hotel's emphasis on free Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast, and free parking are consistent promotional points for the brand, highlighting value-added services.
In conclusion, for users of the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform seeking lodging in West Mifflin, PA, the Wingate by Wyndham Pittsburgh/West Mifflin, located at 1340 Lebanon Church Rd, offers a set of basic amenities common to the Wingate brand, including clean and comfortable rooms, complimentary breakfast, and free parking. Its location provides accessibility to key attractions in the West Mifflin and greater Pittsburgh area. However, prospective guests should be fully aware of the significant concerns raised in customer reviews, particularly regarding common area cleanliness (hallway odors and carpet condition), noise transmission between rooms, and the overall impression created by maintenance issues and clientele. While the staff are generally friendly, these environmental and experiential shortcomings suggest that while the hotel might serve for a very quick, budget-conscious stay, it may not be suitable for those prioritizing a quiet, consistently clean, and worry-free experience. Travelers are encouraged to weigh these factors carefully and consider their personal comfort priorities when evaluating this option.

Apr 18, 2025 · Krissy SpeeceRoom was very nice. Pretty clean, comfy. There was stuff left in nightstand drawer from previous people's stay, so room wasn't 100% thoroughly cleaned/gone through. Check in was quick. Staff is very friendly! I always stay here when I come in and never have any problems.
Mar 01, 2025 · Nura SwinneyStayed in 2 seperate rooms. The first one wasn't bad. The bathroom was tight, the ceiling was stripping and the sofa cushions had stains and food in it. The second room was way better and felt bigger. I loved everything in there and would stay again.

Apr 27, 2025 · Shelly MillerLight over sink didn’t work, light in bathroom flickered, door looked like it had water damage and there were no sheets, blankets or pillows for pullout couch. Call front desk and asked for sheets, took them 45 minutes to bring it up
