Upon entering our first room, we were immediately taken aback by the lack of cleanliness — stained sheets, hair on the toilet seat, and toothpaste residue still in the sink. It was obvious the room had not been properly cleaned. After requesting a room change, we were given a second room, only to find it in the same unacceptable condition. It was incredibly frustrating and disappointing to see such poor standards maintained across multiple rooms. When we voiced our concerns to the hotel staff, the only response we received was a blunt "I agree" — no apology, no attempt to rectify the situation beyond acknowledging it. While we do appreciate that our stay was fully refunded, we ultimately had to leave and find accommodation elsewhere. The views from the hotel are beautiful, which is one of the few positives. However, the building is clearly outdated, and the lack of proper maintenance and cleanliness was impossible to ignore. The hallways looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, which only added to the overall sense of neglect. This hotel might have potential with the right investment in cleaning staff and upkeep, but until then, it does not live up to its 4-star rating. Would not recommend in its current state.

With direct contact available via phone at (585) 381-4000 or +1 585-381-4000, prospective guests can make inquiries and bookings. This introduction aims to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa, integrating its luxurious offerings with varied customer feedback, to aid in informed decision-making.
The Woodcliff Hotel & Spa boasts a distinctive and advantageous environment. It is masterfully designed atop one of the highest points in Monroe County, offering "spectacular views of the Bristol Hills and the picturesque skyline of Rochester, NY." This elevated position provides a serene and visually appealing setting, which is often highlighted as one of the hotel's strongest assets. The property is nestled on 70 acres, featuring extensive hiking trails, which appeals to guests seeking outdoor activities and a connection with nature. Its location in Fairport, while providing a sense of tranquility, also offers convenient access to downtown Rochester (approximately 20 minutes away) and the broader Finger Lakes Region. Nearby attractions include the Casa Larga Vineyards, Powder Mill Park, and the Eastview Mall, catering to a diverse range of interests from wine tasting and outdoor recreation to shopping. The overall environment positions Woodcliff as a retreat-like destination, blending natural beauty with accessibility to urban and recreational hubs.
The Woodcliff Hotel & Spa presents itself as an upscale, full-service hotel designed for both leisure and business travelers, and it offers a wide array of amenities and features:
When considering the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa through the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, it's essential to acknowledge both its acclaimed features and the areas where it has faced criticism. Reviews present a dual perspective. On one hand, there is strong praise for the staff, with one reviewer specifically commending "Ronald Williams" for "outstanding service," being "warm and welcoming," and going "above and beyond" to ensure a memorable stay. This highlights a commitment to hospitality from individual team members. The "beautiful views" from the hotel are consistently praised, affirming the aesthetic appeal of its location.
However, a significant and concerning set of reviews points to a severe issue with cleanliness and property maintenance, which directly contradicts its claimed "4-star rating." Multiple guests have reported finding rooms with "stained sheets, hair on the toilet seat, and toothpaste residue still in the sink," indicating a lack of proper cleaning. This issue was not isolated to one room, as a guest recounted being moved to a second room that was in the "same unacceptable condition." Furthermore, general observations about the hotel's upkeep include "outdated" building aesthetics and hallways that "looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks," contributing to an "overall sense of neglect." The staff's response to these cleanliness concerns, specifically a "blunt 'I agree' — no apology, no attempt to rectify the situation beyond acknowledging it," is a notable point of dissatisfaction, despite a full refund being issued in one instance. This discrepancy between the hotel's advertised luxury and the actual cleanliness experienced by some guests is a critical point of tension in the overall perception.
For users on a "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa positions itself as a premium destination offering a comprehensive experience. Its promotional efforts would naturally highlight its "full-service spa," "nine-hole golf course," "award-winning restaurant," and "spectacular views." The availability of extensive event spaces makes it an attractive option for weddings, conferences, and special occasions. The hotel's emphasis on wellness, dining, and scenic beauty would be central to its marketing. However, potential guests, especially those reviewing recent feedback, would need to balance these aspirational offerings with the reported inconsistencies in basic cleanliness and maintenance. The value proposition would appeal to those seeking a resort-like experience with a wide array of amenities, perhaps for a special occasion or a relaxing getaway, but they must be prepared for the possibility of encountering issues related to the upkeep of the physical property. The presence of highly dedicated staff members, as noted in positive reviews, could also be highlighted as a commitment to service, potentially offsetting some of the physical plant concerns.
For local users utilizing "Hotels Near Of Me," choosing the Woodcliff Hotel & Spa involves weighing its high-end features and reputation against documented challenges. Its appeal lies in its comprehensive amenities, particularly the spa and golf course, and its beautiful location. This makes it suitable for those looking for a luxurious escape, a venue for special events, or a destination with multiple recreational options. However, the recurring themes of uncleanliness in guest rooms and corridors, and the perceived outdatedness of some parts of the building, are significant considerations. While the hotel has undergone multi-million dollar renovations (particularly the spa and restaurant), the general state of cleanliness reported by some guests suggests that these improvements may not extend uniformly across all areas or are not consistently maintained through housekeeping. Prospective guests are strongly advised to consult the most recent reviews, and perhaps consider contacting the hotel directly to inquire about their current cleaning protocols and any ongoing renovations, to ensure their expectations align with the present reality of the property before booking.

May 20, 2025 · Olivia LindbergI spent Mother’s Day weekend at Woodcliff and had an absolutely amazing time. The staff were warm and welcoming, and I especially want to recognize Ronald Williams for his outstanding service. He went above and beyond to ensure our entire group felt cared for and truly made our stay memorable. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality did not go unnoticed. Thank you, Ronald, for helping make this Mother’s Day so special!
May 16, 2025 · Taronda PiphusWe came for easter brunch. There were 13 of us all together, and I really expected better quality and service for $75 each. I think $30-40 each would have been more appropriate. I really appreciated that this event was in the main building, and not in the event tent like the Santa brunch. (That was a nightmare for disabled folks, and those stairs are disastrous for even those with young, nimble legs.) It would have been even better to be in Horizons so we can enjoy the view for the immense price point. The Easter Bunny was so sweet and the kids loved her! There was prime rib, which was nice. The pianist was lovely, he played many variety of tunes, such as Rugrats which made my 90s-kid heart happy! The donut wall was eye catching and delicious. I was surprised that I enjoyed the macaroni and cheese in a buffet style. I was also grateful for the kids coloring table! We loved the crafts and activities when we attended the Santa brunch. But it was really difficult to even get a glass of water. You had to ask, and good luck finding staff that wasn't extremely busy. The coffee had an extraordinary amount of grounds in it. The food buffet quality was on par with a Marriott continental breakfast. We found it odd that there were no plain scrambled eggs, only fritatas as the egg option, which my kids won't eat. The devilled eggs in particular tasted strange, with an odd texture, like the filling came from a packet or something. The desserts looked exciting but were ultimately disappointing. The coconut cake had such an extreme amount of (almond?) extract that you could taste the alcohol, for example. We were missing some sort of chocolate option for an Easter brunch. Not sure if I missed where the croissants and bagels and English muffins were, but I did not see any. We have been going to Woodcliff for many years, and I really do think something has shifted at Woodcliff. I hope they sort it out. I think our family may give it one more shot before we find somewhere else for our large family to attend these events :(
Apr 20, 2025 · The Leo'sI recently attended a large conference there. Our entire experience was stellar. The staff were extremely accommodating, checking constantly to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent, both for the conference and in the restaurant. The rooms were very comfortable. I look forward to returning.
Apr 04, 2025 · Louise HGreat location and friendly staff. Kitty at the front desk was wonderful. The customer in front of me in line was clearly unhappy with her visit and Kitty handle the situation with kindness and a smile. You are lucky to have team members like Kitty. She was also very helpful and accommodating with my request to switch rooms. My first room was a king with a pull out couch. The pull out couch was awful, there was no way I could have my son sleep on that for 5 days which is why I requested a change to two double beds. Housekeeping is clearly lacking as my room still had rose petals on it from whoever stayed in it before us. The counter tops in the bathroom were not wiped down. The rooms are also pretty outdated and in need of minor maintenance, toilet paper holder falling off wall, curtains broken, light bulbs missing. The pool was also closed during my visit which was disappointing with two kids and wintertime in NY. Overall the hotel could use some investments in upgrades, the elevators are very run down and the room was less than impressive. The location is convenient and the staff is friendly, I know it is hard to find good staff these days.
