DO NOT stay here. When you walk in the front door you are 2 feet from the bed. The Smart TV only works using your own personal subscriptions to various TV channels. There are no local channels, HBO, etc. the owner called us as soon as we arrived and when we complained about the TV he got belligerent and threatening. He’s nuts! I will continue to post this review after it is taken down because I want to spread the word wherever I can. This man is not someone you want to deal with. And the “cabin” is a shed. There is a microwave and coffee pot in the bedroom. The one good thing I will say is that the room is clean. We left 10 minutes after arrival, because the owner scared me by the way he spoke to my husband and said he was going to come to the cabin. I felt threatened. And, we were charged $100, but I have a case open with the credit card company.

It's nestled just two miles off the main road, ensuring easy accessibility while maintaining a quiet, country ambiance. Guests frequently report seeing deer and other wildlife wandering through the property, adding to the rustic charm. The location also boasts excellent spots for stargazing, free from city lights. The cabin itself is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring reclaimed wood and tin sourced from local barns, giving it a unique and authentic feel. This approach to construction contributes to a cozy and individually decorated interior. For those seeking a serene backdrop for their stay, Yeti-Cabin offers a refreshing alternative to more conventional accommodations.

Services and Amenities

Yeti-Cabin aims to provide a comfortable and convenient stay for its guests, though it operates without a traditional front desk. Check-in typically begins at 3:00 PM, with check-out by 11:00 AM, and guests receive self-check-in instructions via email prior to arrival. Each cabin, including the Yeti-Cabin, offers complimentary Wi-Fi, which is crucial for staying connected in a rural area. Guests can expect a Smart TV with digital service and a DVD player for entertainment, though it's important to note that access to specific channels like HBO or local channels may require personal subscriptions, as mentioned in some reviews. While the cabin itself is compact, it is equipped with a microwave and a coffee pot, and some cabins may also include a mini-fridge or a full-sized refrigerator. The bathroom typically features a shower/tub combination and towels are provided.

Beyond the individual cabin amenities, the property offers a range of shared facilities. There's a covered pavilion with barbecue grills and picnic tables, ideal for cookouts. Guests can also enjoy a nine-hole Frisbee disc golf course, a basketball goal, and a ping-pong table. River access to the lower Ocoee River is available via a 9+ acre riverfront property across the road, providing excellent opportunities for swimming, fishing, and playing in the water. For added outdoor enjoyment, there are barbecue grills, a terrace, a yard, outdoor furniture, an outdoor entertainment area, and a firepit. Hiking and biking trails are also available on-site. The property is designed to be smoke-free, and while pets are generally welcomed with a fee (typically $100 per pet, per stay, allowing up to two pets of any size, excluding cats), it's always best to reconfirm the latest pet policy when booking. Guidebooks and recommendations for local activities are often available, and for those who may need assistance, sign language-capable staff are mentioned in some listings, though direct communication with the property is advised for specific accessibility needs.

Features and Activities

The standout feature of Yeti-Cabin is its strong connection to the Ocoee River and the surrounding outdoor adventure scene. The Ocoee River is renowned as a premier whitewater rafting destination, having hosted the 1996 Whitewater Olympic events. Yeti-Cabin, often associated with a rafting company (such as Bigfoot Outfitters, which offers cabin rentals and rafting trips), makes it an ideal base for those looking to experience the thrill of Class III-IV rapids. The rafting season typically runs from March through October. In addition to rafting, the area offers a wealth of other outdoor activities, including numerous hiking trails with spectacular waterfalls, mountain biking trails in a scenic setting, boating on nearby Parksville Lake, glider rides, and geocaching.

The cabins themselves, like Yeti-Cabin, are often noted for their clean and cozy interiors. They are individually furnished and decorated, often utilizing reclaimed materials, which adds to their unique character. Many guests appreciate the self-check-in process and the quiet, private nature of the accommodations. The property's ample space provides a sense of seclusion, yet remains highly accessible to the main road and nearby attractions like the Cherokee National Forest. This combination of rustic charm, modern comforts, and a prime location for outdoor adventures makes Yeti-Cabin a popular choice for those seeking an active yet relaxing getaway.

Promotional Information and Guest Experience

Yeti-Cabin often offers promotional rates, with pricing starting from a competitive per-night rate plus a one-time cleaning fee. Longer stays may qualify for larger discounts, which can be an attractive incentive for guests looking to extend their adventure. Reviews for Yeti-Cabin are largely positive, with guests frequently praising the cleanliness, coziness, and the overall peaceful environment. Many appreciate the owner's communication and helpfulness, often describing them as hands-on and ensuring a great stay. The location is consistently highlighted as excellent for its proximity to the Ocoee River and other outdoor activities, while still offering a quiet retreat away from traffic noise. Guests often commend the good water pressure in the showers and the updated rooms. Positive experiences often mention the convenience of automatic locks and the general ease of the stay.

However, it is important to address some differing perspectives from past guests. One review indicated dissatisfaction with the TV setup, noting that the Smart TV primarily relied on personal subscriptions for content and lacked local channels. This guest also reported a negative interaction with the owner, describing them as belligerent and threatening, leading to an immediate departure and a dispute over charges. It's crucial for prospective guests to consider these varied experiences and to communicate any concerns or specific requirements directly with the property before booking. While the majority of reviews reflect positive experiences regarding cleanliness, location, and overall enjoyment of the cabin and its amenities, it's prudent to be aware of the less favorable encounters that have been reported.

In summary, Yeti-Cabin provides a unique and rustic cabin experience ideal for those looking to explore the natural beauty and adventure opportunities of the Ocoee River area. With its secluded yet accessible 26-acre property, a range of on-site amenities, and a focus on outdoor activities, it offers a memorable stay for many visitors seeking a blend of relaxation and excitement. The emphasis on sustainability in construction and the overall welcoming environment contribute to its appeal as a distinctive choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category.
