Our 4 night stay at Hiwassee was amazing! David and Kathi went out of their way to accommodate us to the point of even trimming trees to clear our RV. We felt at home and enjoyed the peace and tranquility. Enjoyed the animals and especially Watson who i believe thinks he is the Hiwassee ambassador! 2 nights were in the RV and 2 nights were in lodging for a conference. The rooms were very clean and nice. All staff were courteous, professional and very friendly. We feel like we have made friends for life!! Highly recommend this for individual or groups. We look forward to our next visit and maybe we will have a chance to partake in the kayaking and hiking opportunities! Dwayne & Sheila Carroll (Montana)

May 03, 2025 · Dwayne CarrollWe had such a wonderful stay at Hiwassee Acres. This was our second visit and it was just a special as the last. We went fishing, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, played pickle ball, and enjoyed the bonfire. Most of all though, we had Watson, the sweetest dog, by our side most of the time. He makes this trip for our kiddos. They love him! The hosts are also amazing. They go above and beyond. We will be back!
Apr 22, 2025 · Ashlie WOur stay at Hiwassee acres was NOT what we had hoped it would be! The photos on their website and rental websites are very deceiving. As soon as you walk in the “house” You immediately get a “hospital vibe” and far from a luxury lodge. We rented the whole house for our stay, however, be aware of random people showing up at the property. We came back to the house on our second day to find an old beat up truck parked at the house. We go cautiously inside and there is a random man cooking in the kitchen. After we asked what he was doing, he let us know he cooks for the owners a special meal for dinner and will soon leave. He left after he was finished with the meal, an hour later as we awkwardly waited for him before we came inside to settle down. This was very unsettling and strange, let alone unsafe. We had little children watching tv and playing in the playroom adjacent to the kitchen, with full access from kitchen to playroom. This was very unsettling. There was no advance warning, at the minimum. Another thing, the entry door from playroom/living room does not lock from outside! Again very unsafe, given the property is located in a very secluded area. We slept with one eye open. Expecting the man to randomly show up and be able to walk in at any time. The hot-tub outside had so much chlorine, we couldn’t sit in it. Like the hotels, when they had add too much chlorine and burns your eyes. The water needs to be changed instead of adding more and more chlorine to it to clean it. Water was very murky and just full of chemicals. The beds are rock hard in the bedrooms. Hospital style mattresses that are very uncomfortable. Owners were not friendly and were quite rude. Very surprised to see the reviews say different. Be aware from a safety aspect. This is not a kid friendly place with the doors being set to not lock on the first floor to the outside 3 doors don’t lock. After three days, we were happy to leave. We won’t be coming back.
Mar 14, 2025 · Lilly LivarchukWe spent an amazing 3 night stay at Hiwassee Acres for our family’s Thanksgiving. We rented the entire lodge and it was the perfect place for our large family to both have our own personal spaces as well as to spend much needed time together in the downstairs area of the lodge. We hiked the property, went horseback riding, went kayaking, played basketball and enjoyed seeing the sweet farm animals. Kathi and David are the perfect hosts. We loved every minute of our stay.
Dec 06, 2024 · Marcy Cirlot KerneaKathi, David, Tracy, Watson & Josie were amazing and so welcoming! We felt like we met old friends. We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend. David & Kathi have created a beautiful haven and we are so thankful to them for sharing it. We will definitely be back when it is warmer.
