Had a room looking at the lake from the eight floor. Gorgeous room with an exceptionally quiet air conditioning system compared to many hotels. Never heard any noise from other rooms. Bar on the top has an amazing view and good happy hour prices. There is a parking ramp next to the hotel that is slightly less expensive than valet. Everything was modern. Location next to most everything in the downtown area, and staff was exceptional. Will stay here whenever I'm in town.
For those of us in Wisconsin who frequently travel to or through Madison, finding the perfect hotel that combines convenience, style, and a touch of luxury is key. The AC Hotel Madison Downtown, part of the Marriott family, presents itself as a sophisticated and modern option that appeals to both business travelers and locals looking for a chic urban getaway. Located in the heart of our state capital, this hotel aims to provide a high-end experience with a distinct European flair. From the moment you arrive, the modern, clean-lined aesthetic is apparent, and the hotel has been praised for its overall contemporary feel. One of its standout features is the quiet and comfortable atmosphere, with guests often noting the exceptionally quiet air conditioning and the solid construction that minimizes noise from other rooms. This emphasis on a serene environment is a significant plus, especially for those looking to get a good night's rest after a busy day in the city. The hotel’s design is a blend of simple elegance and thoughtful functionality, which is reflected in its amenities and services. However, like any popular establishment, experiences can vary. While many guests have had a fantastic time enjoying the gorgeous rooms and stunning views, others have encountered issues with room quality, cleanliness, and staff interactions. This disparity in experiences highlights the importance of setting clear expectations and understanding what makes for a great stay at this particular hotel. For locals who are members of loyalty programs or appreciate a certain level of modern comfort and style, the AC Hotel Madison Downtown is a strong contender, but it’s always wise to be proactive in communicating your needs to the staff to ensure a positive experience.

Jul 02, 2025 · Raman PfaffStayed here for a night, and was very disappointed in my experience. I booked weeks in advance through their website, and I’m also a Marriott rewards member. The room given to us was an accessible room (not requested nor needed) on the 3rd floor with a horrendous view facing a mostly enclosed space with some sort of hotel machinery. Furthermore, one of the beds had a blood stain on it, and the other one had hair in the sheets. Our sink also leaked if we had the water pressure on too high. We were too exhausted to deal with complaining, and just reminded ourselves that it’s just one night. To make matters worse, one of the female associates we interacted with several times kept giving me strange looks, enough to make me feel uncomfortable. My friend who was with me also noticed. This experience was not worth the price point whatsoever- seems like I got what must be one of their worst rooms. And I’m very curious as to why I was given this room, especially considering the strange treatment I received from the associate.
Jul 28, 2025 · R. K.Great location & valet parking. Rooftop dining was amazing, fastest service I have ever had. They should have a dress standard if it’s fine dining. Room was small but quiet & clean. For the price shower should have real stone not panels was tacky.
Jun 30, 2025 · T SStayed here for a night to go to the farmer's market. Location could not be more ideal. Rooms felt modern and clean. View from the restaurant of the Capitol is fantastic. Only knock was the toilet seat was coming off. And large gap in closing the drapes. Service was top notch. I think the AC stands for, you can only get AContinental breakfast with your status (I'm not sure I was familiar with their breakfast approach), took a look on the 10th floor and opted to get something in town. Also if the $35 valet is not your jam you can park around the corner at the madison capitol garage for $8 day at least on the weekend (no in/out).
Apr 20, 2025 · Jeff GottdownunderWould not stay again. Sheets were not clean in the room upon checkin. Had hair and stains in the bed and it was clearly slept in. Had to call twice to get them changed. When housekeeping came they didn’t bring pillow cases or a top sheet so I had to ask her to go back to get a full bedding change. She was super nice about it though. Room was super hot and smelled like cigarettes. Curtains would not shut all the way and the room was super hot. The young woman at the front desk was snippy when I requested assistance both times that I called and when I finally went down to speak to her. I had already booked a suite which is their best room so it’s not like I was looking for an upgrade. She sent the engineer up to check the AC and he reeked like cigarettes and was extremely rude as well. Don’t waste your money.
