Honestly this place was wonderful! I don’t think I have a negative thing to say about it. My husband was working in Madison and I brought my 2 young kids (both under 4) and I was able to easily get into the garage and then the building and then the unit with no worries. There were many cleaners in the building throughout our 4 nights here. (We left our garbage outside our door and they took it so quick) The neighborhood is sweet, quaint and quiet. Walking distance to the main downtown square (and children’s museum). Walkable to even a grocery store if need be. We had the 3 bedroom unit and it was perfect. We will be staying here again!!
For residents of Wisconsin, finding the perfect place to stay for a quick trip or an extended visit to our state capital, Madison, can be a delightful challenge. While traditional hotels are plentiful, a new kind of accommodation is gaining popularity, one that blends the comfort and privacy of an apartment with the professional services of a hotel. The Dylin, located right in the heart of downtown Madison, is one such place. It offers a unique alternative for families, business travelers, and anyone looking for a more personalized and spacious lodging experience. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of what you can expect when you book your stay at The Dylin, helping you decide if it's the right choice for your next Madison adventure.
The Dylin is not your typical hotel. It's best described as a collection of apartment-style units, offering guests more space and autonomy than a traditional hotel room. This setup is particularly appealing to families and those planning longer stays, as it provides a true "home away from home" feel. One guest with two young children praised the spacious three-bedroom unit they stayed in, highlighting the ease of access to the building and the overall convenience for a family. The quiet, residential neighborhood adds to this sense of comfort and security, making it a peaceful retreat after a day of exploring the city's vibrant downtown. The hotel is known for its cleanliness, with a review mentioning the presence of cleaning staff and the quick removal of trash, which speaks to a well-maintained property.
A key aspect of The Dylin's appeal is its residential setting, which provides a different kind of experience than staying in a high-rise hotel. While some may find the lack of a traditional front desk and on-site staff a departure from the norm, the model is designed for a more independent traveler. Communication is handled through text, which can be a convenient and modern way to address needs, though it may not be for everyone. The unique approach of The Dylin is about giving guests the space to make themselves at home, with the freedom to come and go as they please without the formalities of a traditional hotel check-in process. This flexibility is a major plus for those who value privacy and independence.
It is important to manage expectations, however, as some guests have had a less positive experience. A detailed review highlighted significant frustration with the parking situation, which is not on-site and requires separate arrangements. This is a crucial detail for anyone planning to stay, especially those unfamiliar with downtown Madison's parking limitations. The review also mentioned the hotel's unconventional communication style and a general feeling that the property was not a traditional hotel. These points are important to consider, as The Dylin's business model is different from a conventional hotel and may not suit all travel styles.
The Dylin is located at 611 E Dayton St, Madison, WI 53703. This is an excellent location for anyone looking to experience the heart of Madison. The hotel is nestled in a sweet, quiet, and quaint neighborhood, which provides a peaceful escape from the city's main thoroughfares while still being incredibly close to all the action.
Accessibility is a key feature, as the property is within easy walking distance of the main downtown square, the State Capitol, and the Madison Children's Museum, making it a perfect spot for families. Being able to walk to these major attractions eliminates the need for driving and finding expensive downtown parking, which is a significant advantage. A guest review specifically mentioned the convenience of being able to walk to a grocery store, which is a huge plus for those staying in a unit with a kitchen.
While the location is great for walking, it's crucial for prospective guests to be aware of the parking situation. The property itself does not have dedicated on-site parking. Instead, guests are required to use a parking structure located a few blocks away and must reserve parking separately. This is a vital piece of information, as it can be a source of frustration for those who are not prepared for it. For those who are comfortable with this arrangement or who do not plan on using a car, the location is unbeatable for its proximity to downtown Madison's best offerings.
The neighborhood itself is a blend of residential homes and student housing, which gives it a unique, lived-in feel. While this adds to the authentic Madison experience, it can also lead to some of the typical urban challenges, such as street litter during student move-out periods. However, for those who appreciate the vibrancy and walkability of a downtown setting, The Dylin's location is a prime choice.
The Dylin operates on a unique service model that prioritizes guest independence and privacy. The services are tailored to an apartment-style stay rather than a traditional hotel.
The Dylin's features are what truly distinguish it from other lodging options in Madison. These highlights make it particularly suitable for those seeking a more residential and spacious experience.

Jun 20, 2025 · Jenny WatkaThis has got to be of the biggest form of false advertising I'd ever seen. Not only is there no parking but you have to park in a structure a few blocks away which already adds to inconvenience and frustration. And then I tell you after they've taken your money and put a crazy hold on your credit card that you have to reserve parking separately . There's no customer service You simply have to text someone who responds like an 8-year-old cyberbully acting like they can't be touched because they're hiding behind a phone or computer. The hotel I use that term mostly is not a hotel It is a Western European hostel and that's what it should be classified under. The view will be a beautiful neighborhood of yards that have mattresses and dressers broken because college kids have checked out for the summer and as you walk through the neighborhood and you speak with the unhoused people you realize that you should probably give them your room at the Dylin hotel. Don't stay here unless you love living dangerously and being disappointed. I booked the place for 2 nights and from the time I arrived everything went wrong including finding out that parking was not existent. Don't call yourself a hotel if you have motel and hostel qualities. If you have the choice between staying at this hotel and an alleyway in Madison I would pick the alleyway because at least there'd be parking. I'm not even staying the duration of my vacation I checked in today and will be checking out bright and early tomorrow morning. Next time I'll just put my money in a garbage can and set it on fire, at least I'll have parking.
May 31, 2025 · Gequilla KeiserThe Reynolds House was the perfect home for us when staying in Madison for a wedding weekend. The layout and rooms offered amazing space and felt so comfortable, much more so than a hotel or small rental. It felt like you were staying at your own home. We used the space for an adult group, but this is also very ideal for families and kids looking to be close to the Capitol. Best decision to stay here — we will certainly be back.
May 26, 2025 · Zach TanelliThe Dylin is awesome! Lovely accommodations and neighborhood. We travelled with our dogs and it was so stress-free. Plenty of places to walk them on quiet streets. There is no front desk but they were very responsive to texts and calls. Have to reserve your parking, but it is right there in the building and so convenient. Highly recommend!
May 16, 2025 · Kathie HowardWe were in Madison for our 26th wedding anniversary and a friends 70th birthday party. I found the Dylin and then other family members booked their rooms there also. We did utilize the garage parking that was $20 a day but you would not need to. Street parking on the weekends was free and accessible. The facility just opened this year and the lobby, patio, and rooms were exceptional! You have a full kitchen and a washer/dryer! Love the aesthetics of the whole building! Nespresso in the lobby was an added bonus for our coffee drinkers! Trying to talk my grandson into coming to Madison for school so I can plan more visits!
