Jul 25, 2025 · Alison SampsonAn overall excellent experience. Great location, nice amenities, great pool and hot tub. You can walk around on State Street easily from here. Slightly expensive, but not given the location, right next to the capital! A Starbucks inside the hotel. My main gripe is the lack of a free breakfast and coffee available downstairs, probably due to this competing with the Starbucks. Overall, an enjoyable experience.
Jun 12, 2025 · Jer JNothing special. You'll need to pay top dollar for a room that includes breakfast or else eat at their restaurant that only serves the food on the room service menu (room service tacks on a bunch of fees). Many guests hog the hot tub. We spent an hour swimming, waiting for a spot to open. People never budged, so we went back to our room. You'll also need to pay top dollar to get a room with a decent view. It was just ok. We will most likely stay somewhere else when we visit Madison again.
Jul 27, 2025 · RebeccaI tried to save some money by staying in a lower-level cheaper room. The hotel doesn't offer new towels or service the room for three days, but they only give you TWO washcloths. Sure, you can ask for more or fill out a form to make another arrangement, but why should you have to? Three days = three washcloths. The first night the dog next door started barking every time a door opened or shut anywhere nearby. Sure enough, the dog woke me up barking before 7 am. The refrigerator did NOT work. Rather than mention the dog to the front desk, I just decided to upgrade to a Governor's Club level room on a upper floor. I get my new keys, for more money, and go upstairs to unpack again. The air conditioner doesn't work. So I asked for another room and thankfully got it. This time, the AC and the refrigerator worked. Everything was nicer: the drinking glasses in the room were bigger, there were two free bottles of water, the refrigerator worked, there's breakfast somewhat included, there's a key-card accessed elevator that is clutch in busy times. I never once looked out the window. It was clear that no one probably ever had. Cobwebs and a tiny spider friend lived there. Friday night was loud outside with revving engines until the wee hours. Otherwise, the Governor's Club level is the best choice for rooms. The best reason to stay is the hotel's location. That's what you're paying for. I stayed in a Best Western in nowhere Texas a week before that was better room-wise.
Jun 23, 2025 · Gwyneth BauerLocation, location! You can’t beat this location for a Farmer’s Market/ State Street visit. The room is spacious and clean, with a beautiful shower. An in-room microwave would be helpful. The mini fridge is not very cold and there is no freezer, which for the farmer’s market, also would have been appreciated. Our view was dingy, a sliver of the Capitol and an ugly roof, but the room price was very reasonable for downtown Madison. The pool was closed on our first day, but it looks very nice, with a hot tub and sauna included, and the exercise room is spacious. All in all, a very good stay.
