We are just checking out after spending multiple nights here. What a charming hotel. The staff are wonderful and very accommodating. Our room was spacious, well-decorated and the shower was to die for. Breakfast is complimentary and it is a feast. We’ve been on the road for 2 weeks and haven’t seen anything to compare. What a spread! There is no elevator but we didn’t mind a bit because of all the other amenities. Stay here!
For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in the picturesque coastal city of Newport, Rhode Island, America's Cup Inn emerges as a truly delightful and highly recommended option. Situated at the heart of the historic downtown at 6 Mary Street, Newport, RI 02840, USA, this charming inn offers a quintessential New England experience, blending colonial-era character with modern comforts and exceptional hospitality. This detailed introduction will explore the inn's inviting environment, its stellar services, distinctive features, and any available promotional information, drawing from the glowing testimonials of real customers and publicly available details.
America's Cup Inn is steeped in the rich history and aesthetic of classic Colonial New England. Housed in a building that exudes old-world charm, the inn's design and decor are meticulously curated to reflect this heritage. Guests will find themselves immersed in an atmosphere of warmth and character, with individually decorated rooms adorned with colonial furnishings and subtle nods to the iconic America's Cup Challenge throughout the property. This careful attention to historical detail creates a unique and authentic Newport experience, setting it apart from more contemporary accommodations. The building itself dates back to 1876, offering a genuine sense of history.
The location of America's Cup Inn is arguably one of its most compelling environmental features. Positioned directly on the cobblestones of Mary Street, which connects to the bustling Thames Street, guests are literally in the middle of all that downtown Newport has to offer. This prime spot means that vibrant shops, acclaimed restaurants, lively nightlife, and the scenic waterfront are all just steps away. Guests can easily walk to popular destinations like Brick Marketplace, Bowen's Wharf, and the International Tennis Hall of Fame. The proximity to attractions like Touro Synagogue and the Museum of Newport History further enhances the immersive historical experience. The ambiance of gaslights and historic architecture right outside the door adds to the charm, providing a truly walkable and engaging environment for exploring Newport.
Despite its central location, the inn manages to maintain a cozy and quaint atmosphere, inviting guests to relax after a day of exploration. While the review notes there is no elevator and rooms are across four floors, which might be a consideration for some, the overall charm and convenience offered by the environment more than compensate for this minor detail for most visitors. Some guests have noted potential noise from lower floors facing the street due to the central location, suggesting that requesting a higher or quieter room might be beneficial for sensitive sleepers.
The service at America's Cup Inn consistently receives glowing accolades from guests, making it a standout choice for those seeking exceptional hospitality among "Hotels Near Of Me." Reviews highlight the staff as "wonderful," "very accommodating," and "stellar." One customer specifically recounts a late-night check-in experience, praising the staff for going "completely above and beyond" to ensure a smooth arrival despite significant flight delays. This level of dedication to guest satisfaction underscores the inn's commitment to personalized and attentive service, making visitors feel genuinely welcomed and appreciated. The 24-hour front desk, though sometimes limited in hours, ensures support for guests.
A key service offering that truly sets America's Cup Inn apart is its complimentary breakfast. Described as a "feast" and "a spread" by delighted guests, it is far from a typical continental breakfast. Customers have stated they "haven't seen anything to compare" after two weeks of travel, suggesting a generous and high-quality selection that rivals many dedicated breakfast establishments. While specific details of the breakfast spread might vary, it's typically a European buffet style with items like pastries, fruit, breads, eggs, sausage, and bacon, providing a substantial and delicious start to the day. This emphasis on a memorable breakfast experience significantly enhances the value of a stay.
Beyond breakfast, the inn offers a range of practical amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Each of the 17 unique rooms and 6 suites is equipped with air conditioning, private bathrooms, and complimentary Wi-Fi, allowing guests to stay connected. Many rooms also feature plasma TVs with cable channels, refrigerators, desks, irons/ironing boards, and complimentary toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. Some suites even boast kitchenettes and jetted tubs, offering self-catering options. Daily housekeeping ensures a pristine environment. Although parking is available, it is typically across the street in the public Mary Street Parking Lot and incurs a surcharge (around $25 per night), with limited on-site parking also available for a fee. The inn's express check-out, luggage storage, and tour/ticket assistance further contribute to a seamless and convenient guest experience. For those traveling with furry companions, America's Cup Inn is pet-friendly in two select rooms, available upon request, for an additional charge, providing a welcoming environment for the whole family.
America's Cup Inn boasts several distinctive features that contribute to its charm and appeal. The rooms themselves are a notable highlight. Described as "spacious" and "well-decorated," they offer more than just a place to sleep. Many feature individually decorated interiors with colonial antique furnishings, and some even include four-poster mahogany beds, coordinated draperies, or antique wicker furnishings, adding to the inn's unique character. The mention of a "shower to die for" indicates that even the smaller details of guest comfort are given attention. The variety of room types, including Deluxe King Rooms, Deluxe Double Rooms, Queen Suites, and Apartments (some with kitchenettes, ovens, stovetops, microwaves, and toasters), caters to different traveler needs, from solo visitors to families or those seeking extended stays. Some rooms even have balconies or terraces.
One of the most appealing features is the scenic rooftop deck. This common area provides a wonderful space for guests to relax and take in views, likely offering glimpses of Thames Street and potentially even the water, creating a tranquil escape amidst the bustling city. Alongside the rooftop deck, the inn also features a common room library, providing another cozy spot for guests to unwind and perhaps delve into a book about Newport's rich history. A shared lounge/TV area and a game room with activities like pool and darts are also available, adding to the entertainment options.
The inn's consistent focus on "quaint" and "comfortable, clean lodgings" despite its historic setting ensures a high standard of stay. The attention to detail in the decor, combined with essential modern amenities, creates a homely yet refined atmosphere. The convenience of being able to access downtown Newport's main attractions on foot directly from the inn is a significant advantage, eliminating the need for constant driving or taxis. While there's no elevator, for many, the charm, comfort, and prime location offered by these features far outweigh this. Guests also appreciate the accessibility features, including facilities for disabled guests and fire alarm signals for the hearing impaired.
While specific, consistently running "promotional packages" like those at larger resorts might not be explicitly detailed, America's Cup Inn provides value through its core offerings and may have seasonal deals. The complimentary breakfast, which is consistently praised as a "feast," serves as a significant value-add that is included with all reservations. This alone offers substantial savings and convenience compared to other "Hotels Near Of Me" where breakfast is an additional cost. The inn is open year-round, allowing guests to experience Newport in every season.
Guests can contact America's Cup Inn directly to inquire about any current promotions or best available rates. The phone numbers provided, (401) 846-9200 and +1 401-846-9200, are the best points of contact for direct booking inquiries or to ask about specific seasonal offers. Their official website (americascupinn.com) also serves as a primary source for booking and discovering more about their offerings. While explicit long-term promotions aren't always advertised, they have been known to participate in city-wide initiatives like "Hotel Month" (using promo code HOTELMONTH, which might be seasonal). Additionally, discounts are offered for AAA and government members.
The inn has also been known to offer complimentary afternoon tea, a delightful touch that further enhances the charming experience. Travelers are encouraged to check their website or call directly to inquire about specific room availability, pet policies, and any current rates or specials before booking. The strong positive reviews emphasizing the excellent staff, prime location, and outstanding breakfast inherently make America's Cup Inn a highly recommended choice, even without extensive promotional campaigns, as the value is built into the guest experience itself.

May 13, 2025 · Cheryl BlasnekCan’t say enough positive things about this inn! Great location. Comfortable, clean lodgings. Very quaint. But more than anything, stellar staff. We were going to be checking in late anyway due to a late night flight, but that flight ended up getting delayed 3.5 hours, bringing our check-in time to 4am. I was in constant communication with them and they made it so we were able to check in at that late (early?) hour. Went completely above and beyond. We’ll certainly be staying here again next time we’re in Newport! Highly recommend.
May 18, 2025 · Tasha KravecWonderful hotel. Rooms are spacious, warm, elegant and cozy. The bathroom is so nice with a jacuzzi too and the shower is very nice. Breakfast is plentiful and great too. Location is perfect. Just along Thames st where the shops are. Parking is conveniently located just beside the hotel too.
May 22, 2025 · Rudy de los ReyesThis inn is in the perfect location to walk around Newport. The price was so great I was not sure what it would be like but my daughter and I loved it. The parking was right across the street and free due to off season. The tea and treats were a nice extra. It was quiet, clean and the breakfast was fresh. We were very pleased. Thank you to the staff.
