We stayed here for one night in transit between home and vacation and probably would not do so again. The location is convenient to getting on and off the highway, but has poor signage-- we originally passed it. The pros were: price, spacious room, man at the front desk was nice. The cons were numerous -- not clean, smelled of smoke, broken stuff, etc. It's a shame, because with a little effort this place could be halfway decent. If you're absolutely desperate and just need a place to sleep for a single night, it isn't the worst, but it isn't great either.
For individuals utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform to locate convenient accommodation, a thorough and objective understanding of each establishment is essential. This introduction focuses on the Americas Best Value Inn Carlisle, situated at 1247 Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle, PA 17013, USA. Our aim is to provide local users with a clear and honest overview of what to expect from this hotel, drawing upon publicly available information and real customer experiences.
The Americas Best Value Inn Carlisle is located on Harrisburg Pike, a main thoroughfare in Carlisle, which offers some convenience for travelers. Its phone number is (717) 386-5740, and a mobile contact is also provided as +1 717-386-5740, allowing for direct communication. For users on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, this location suggests it could be a practical choice for those needing a quick stopover or an economical option during events in Carlisle, such as the numerous car shows. However, it's important to note that signage to the hotel has been reported as poor, leading some guests to initially pass by the entrance. Additionally, the hotel is described as sitting "behind the old, abandoned Diamond hotel" and not being "visible from the road," which can make it difficult to locate upon arrival.
Regarding the environment of the Americas Best Value Inn Carlisle, customer reviews paint a less-than-ideal picture. While the location offers convenience for highway access, the immediate surroundings and the hotel itself are frequently described in negative terms. The property's appearance has been noted as unkempt, and it is situated behind what is described as an "old, abandoned" building, which can contribute to a less appealing first impression. The overall atmosphere conveyed by guests is one of neglect, suggesting that the property might not be consistently maintained to a high standard. For users on "Hotels Near Of Me" who prioritize a well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing environment, these descriptions indicate that Americas Best Value Inn Carlisle might not meet those expectations.
When it comes to services, customer feedback indicates significant shortcomings. Guests have reported issues with staff availability and communication, with one reviewer noting "no one to greet us when we arrived" and encountering someone who "doesn't speak or understand English" when ringing the bell. This suggests potential difficulties in receiving assistance or resolving issues. The hotel reportedly advertises breakfast, but a customer explicitly stated "No breakfast eventhough advertised," and the microwave in the breakfast area was found to be non-functional, with the sink being "gross." These accounts suggest that advertised services may not always be reliably provided or maintained. Furthermore, the overall impression given is that "Nobody cares about cleanliness in this place," which impacts the perceived quality of any service offered. Basic amenities such as a working microwave or clean public areas, which are often expected even at budget hotels, appear to be lacking or poorly maintained.
Delving into the features of the rooms at Americas Best Value Inn Carlisle, customer reviews consistently highlight issues with cleanliness and maintenance. While rooms are described as "spacious" and "big," this positive aspect is often overshadowed by numerous negatives. Guests have reported that rooms "smelled of smoke" even when booked as non-smoking, indicating poor adherence to hotel policies or inadequate cleaning. Specific cleanliness concerns include "cobwebs... never cleaned from corner near heat/air conditioner," "dust on lamp shades," and particularly egregious issues in bathrooms. Descriptions include "shower walls had black smudges, mold around tub where caulking was peeling off, and shower curtain looked like someone used it to wipe their butt. Horrible stains on the curtain." The bathroom floor was also noted as "dirty and moldy." Furthermore, despite beds appearing "clean," pillows were described as "filthy," with one guest reporting "bugs in my hair after sleeping on them" and "bed bug bites also on the side that I slept, neck, shoulders and legs." Functionality issues like "broken stuff" within the room are also mentioned. While a room might offer a private bathroom and a television, the conditions described by guests indicate that these basic features are severely compromised by a lack of proper cleaning and maintenance. For users searching on "Hotels Near Of Me" for a comfortable and sanitary place to sleep, these reported conditions are critical to consider.
Regarding promotional information and pricing, Americas Best Value Inn is part of a larger chain, and typically participates in various promotions. However, the customer reviews suggest that the perceived value for money at this specific location is extremely low. One guest stated the price was "$55 plus tax" and considered it "Over priced for this poorly run hotel." This sentiment is echoed by general advice to avoid staying there unless "absolutely desperate and just need a place to sleep for a single night," emphasizing that it "isn't the worst, but it isn't great either." The hotel's appeal largely hinges on its budget pricing, but the severe deficiencies in cleanliness, maintenance, and service raise serious questions about its overall value, even at a lower price point. For "Hotels Near Of Me" users, while the initial price might seem appealing, the associated risks concerning hygiene and comfort appear to be significant. It is clear from the feedback that any promotional information should be viewed with skepticism, as the actual guest experience seems to fall far short of even basic expectations for an economy hotel.
In conclusion, for local users utilizing the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, the Americas Best Value Inn Carlisle at 1247 Harrisburg Pike presents a challenging prospect. While its location offers some convenience for highway access, and it aims to be a budget-friendly option, the consistent and severe negative feedback from guests regarding its environment, services, and room features is a major concern. Issues such as poor signage, unkempt surroundings, absent or unhelpful staff, non-existent or poorly maintained amenities (like breakfast), and particularly alarming cleanliness issues including potential pest infestations and widespread mold, strongly suggest that this hotel may not meet even minimal standards for a comfortable and safe stay. Despite potentially appearing in searches for its price point, the documented experiences indicate that the value for money is extremely poor. Therefore, prospective guests are strongly advised to consider these significant drawbacks carefully and potentially explore alternative accommodations in the Carlisle area, especially if cleanliness, safety, and basic operational standards are priorities for their stay.

Apr 20, 2025 · Cassandra PettusOnly stayed here because we had a blow out and nobody open to mount a tire on a trailer on a Sunday. Worst hotel I ever stayed in. There was no one to greet us when we arrived. Someone who doesn't speak or understand English came out of a room when I rang the bell. Room/hallway smelled of smoke eventhough we paid for a non smoking room. Room was big but not well kept. The cobwebs were never cleaned from corner near heat/air conditioner. Dust on lamp shades. Shower walks had black smudges, mold around tub where caulking was peeling off, and shower curtain looked like someone used it to wipe their butt. Horrible stains on the curtain. Bathroom floor was dirty and moldy. Bed "looked clean" pillows need to be replaced. They were filthy and I gad bugs in my hair after sleeping on them. Have bed bug bites also on the side that I slept, neck, shoulders and legs. Price was $55 plus tax. Over priced for this poorly run hotel. No breakfast eventhough advertised. Microwave in breakfast area did not work to heat a cup of water. Sink was gross! Should be condemned by board of health. Nobody cares about cleanliness in this place. Sits behind the old, abandoned Diamond hotel. Not visible from the road. No recommendations for this hole in the wall.
Apr 30, 2025 · Michele Jent (Chelebell)If you don’t mind everything broken, stained sheets, poop on the wall and shower curtain, dismantled fire alarms, etc etc etc then this is the place for you. Absolutely nasty! You get what you you pay for! Oh and the first thing my husband said was the rooms don’t smell as bad as the hallway….so there you have it…gross. So gross.
Mar 23, 2025 · Rachel AnnI always go to hotels that offer breakfast, and according to Travelocity they did. Upon arrival on Monday I found out that they only do it on weekends. You should not advertise anything you're not providing. I digress. I asked for a room away from other people. What I got was a neighbor who was entertaining at 2am. My room was next to an entrance and so every time humans entered I got to hear that. Fun. Main room - no carpet, only laminate flooring which I washed by hand due to filth. All countertops were cleaned by me as well. The window to the room (1st floor) was unlocked all night which I discovered in the morning. HVAC filters - see photos There's a huge gap in the entrance door - see photos Bathroom - Floor and walls were dirty, the tub was full of misc. dirt and hairs and the towels were full of holes. I took the nasty pile of towels to the front desk and got pretty much the same thing, dirty and hole filled towels. Someone painted the tub with regular paint and I watched it peel off the floor and tub walls while showering. Use Tub & Tile people!! The room obviously had not been cleaned in who knows how long as there was dust everywhere. Attached photos tell the story.
Feb 13, 2025 · Julie StevensThe only bonuses were that the rooms were quite and the price was cheap. The breakfast was a single pan of eggs sitting in water, two individually wrapped danishes, and three cereal choices, two of which were empty. There wasn't a single tea bag available for the hot water. Dust was in every corner. The gutter was litterally hanging in front of our window. There was glass and a baby bottle in the first parking space I went to pull into. The place next to it is boarded up. We turned a light switch that didn't work... until the light turned on at 3am. I found long black hairs in my towel and the washcloth looked stained. The first thing I did when I got home from this trip was get another shower. The room had a smell that was... sort of musty? For the few dollars we saved versus another place, it wasn't worth it, as we ended up having to buy breakfast that was actually edible AND available. Overall, it was like the hotel itself was just going through the motions and collecting a paycheck. The entire place needs an overall, or needs to join its neighbor and board itself up.
