For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, particularly with accessibility to major roadways in mind, Comfort Inn PA Turnpike - I-81 is a frequently appearing option. Located at 77 Shady Ln, Carlisle, PA 17013, USA, this hotel provides accommodation services and can be reached by phone at (717) 440-9555 or mobile at +1 717-440-9555. As part of the Comfort Inn brand, it generally aims to provide a reliable and comfortable stay for travelers.
The environment of Comfort Inn PA Turnpike - I-81 is primarily characterized by its strategic location. Its name explicitly points to its proximity to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and I-81, making it highly convenient for travelers utilizing these major arteries. This access is a significant advantage for those on road trips or needing to quickly connect to other destinations. Furthermore, a notable environmental feature is its immediate vicinity to The Kitchen Shoppe, a popular destination for cooking classes, being "a 2-minute walk" away. This makes it an ideal choice for attendees of events at this establishment. The hotel is described as "quiet," with no discernible "turnpike noise," which is a positive aspect for a property so close to major highways, suggesting good soundproofing. However, there are significant concerns raised about the internal environment in some reviews. One particularly negative account describes an "entire floor" smelling "like a dumpster," and an overflowing garbage can in the room with ice. These issues point to lapses in maintaining a consistently pleasant and clean environment, which can severely impact a guest's comfort and perception of hygiene.
Regarding services, Comfort Inn PA Turnpike - I-81 offers a range of standard amenities for its guests. The staff are described positively in some instances, being "happy" and providing a proper welcome, indicating a commitment to guest satisfaction. However, a highly critical review details a severe breakdown in service when faced with cleanliness issues. After a used tissue was found under blankets in one room, and "something smeared on the headboard and blood smeared on the walls and on the mattress topper" in a replacement room, the staff's response was a dismissive "I don't know what to tell you, we have no more rooms," with "No apology, no offer to replace the sheets and disinfect the headboard, nothing." This complete lack of empathy, problem-solving, and basic customer service in a critical situation is a significant red flag. While the hotel generally provides basic services like a front desk and supposedly clean rooms, this incident highlights a severe inconsistency in how serious complaints are handled. The hotel typically offers a complimentary breakfast, though one guest "didn't stay for breakfast and opted to go to the Hamilton," suggesting that while available, its quality or variety might not always be a primary draw. However, the positive review states that everything was clean and they had "no complaints" about the staff, which implies that good experiences do occur. The hotel likely offers free Wi-Fi and parking, standard for a Comfort Inn property, although these are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews. A 24-hour front desk is typically available, along with wake-up calls. The hotel is also pet-friendly, allowing service animals and generally permitting pets for an additional fee, which is a valuable service for travelers with animals.
The features of the rooms at Comfort Inn PA Turnpike - I-81 are aimed at providing a comfortable, if basic, stay. In positive instances, rooms are described as having a "nice bed," indicating a comfortable sleeping experience. Guests appreciated having "no issues" with their rooms, even when compared to more expensive hotels. However, the negative reviews paint a starkly different picture, with descriptions of used tissues under blankets, smeared substances on headboards, and blood on mattress toppers, pointing to severe cleanliness and hygiene deficiencies in certain rooms. While typical Comfort Inn features would include flat-screen TVs, mini-refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and irons/ironing boards, the fundamental issues of cleanliness overshadow these standard amenities. The hotel generally features an indoor heated pool and a fitness center, providing recreational options for guests. Business amenities usually include a business center with copy and fax services. However, the critical issues raised by guests, particularly concerning the basic hygiene of the rooms, suggest that potential guests should prioritize verifying the current condition of the specific room assigned to them. The presence of both positive and highly negative reviews indicates that the hotel's features and cleanliness are inconsistent, offering a lottery-like experience for guests.
Promotional information for Comfort Inn PA Turnpike - I-81 would naturally highlight its convenient location near the PA Turnpike and I-81, making it an ideal stop for travelers. Its proximity to The Kitchen Shoppe would be a niche but effective promotional point. As a Comfort Inn, it would likely promote its complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and other standard amenities like an indoor pool and fitness center. The pet-friendly policy would also be a key promotional aspect for specific traveler segments. However, the highly negative reviews regarding cleanliness and staff response to critical issues pose a significant challenge to any promotional claims of comfort and quality. While the hotel might present itself as a reliable choice, the stark customer feedback serves as a strong counter-narrative. Any promotional efforts would need to either strongly emphasize recent improvements across all rooms and staff training or risk attracting guests who might be severely disappointed. For those searching for "Hotels Near Of Me," this hotel presents a trade-off: potentially convenient location and some positive experiences, but with a notable risk of encountering significant cleanliness and service issues.

Get directionsIf I could give this location "0" stars I absolutely would. We traveled to the area for a funeral a few hours from home and stayed at this particular location because our family has stayed every visit they made for our loved ones. They never once had a bad experience. However, when we went to get into bed, my young daughter found a used tissue under the blankets. Called the front desk and we switched rooms. No problem, until we got to the next room. There was something smeared on the headboard and blood smeared on the walls and on the mattress topper. When we brought this to the staffs attention, their response was, "I don't know what to tell you, we have no more rooms." No apology, no offer to replace the sheets and disinfect the headboard, nothing. So, at 11 at night, with 2 children, I had to go get replacement bedding and a bottle of disinfectant and clean a room that should have already been cleaned, and after we had already left an unclean room. The entire floor also smelled like a dumpster and the garbage in the room with ice was over flowing into the floor. A little kindness and effort would have gone a long way here and it was handled quite poorly. I would have spoken to a manager had one been available before Monday morning.
Mar 30, 2025 · Anna E McKeanGreat place if you're attending a cooking class at the Kitchen Shoppe, next door. A 2-minute walk. I wasn't expecting much but was very pleasantly surprised. Everything was clean, we were welcomed properly, the staff were happy, bed nice, hotel quiet (no turnpike noise), I had no complaints. I've recently stayed in more expensive hotels and the rooms all had one issue or another (including a huge dip in the bed and broken springs), but had absolutely no issues. We didn't stay for breakfast and opted to go to the Hamilton, in Carlisle, so can't speak on it (but Hamilton was a great diner, recommended by a staff member).
Mar 13, 2025 · Sandra LoebI debated on posting a review considering the manager Holly did try to make things right by comp 1 of our 3 night stay .The room was masked with cleaner smell BUT the room was definitely not cleaned in a very long time .The ac / heater vent was full of dust and mold. The bathroom floor was absolutely horrible as you can see by the picture, The comforter was ripped and yellow from what looked like body stains ,the pillow was wet as if it had been pee on. Trash can no liner and filthy. I cleaned the entire room in order to feel like I could actually sleep by getting clean sheets ,linens and towels from the poor fellow at the front desk.He was wonderful at helping get everything I needed. The breakfast attendant was rude and very hostile because there was no hot water or coffee when we asked .Was told no bacon only 3 times a year because it was to expensive. No yogurt, no biscuits or gravy ,no milk,Only had scramble eggs, dried out sausage links. The breakfast experience was BAD.I stayed at many Comfort Inn this place was not good.
Mar 16, 2025 · Pam BayesStaying here was a great experience! I accidentally booked the wrong day through Expedia, I called the location and the manager was able to work with me to change the date and check us in that night. Rooms were super clean and the staff were very friendly.
Mar 20, 2025 · Emily DulaneyEverything was really nice. The beds and the pillows were exceptionally comfortable and the front desk staff Tracy and the food service at breakfast was all super nice
