We had an amazing stay. It's in a quiet area and it has an off street parking area which was super nice. This has all the old charm with necessary new amenities. The antique doorknobs to the dimmer switches in the bathroom, the high ceilings to the hardwood floors. Every inch was clean and beautiful, the bedding smelled amazing, and the owners were very responsive and kind, making sustainable choices for the space. This is was perfect for us; a quiet, introverted couple who wanted a relaxing night in a cool downtown apartment. Thank you so much S&A for having us. I only wish I could give more stars. Hope to stay there again soon!

Bau Guesthaus is situated on Wall Street, placing it squarely in Kingston's renowned Uptown Stockade District. This area is famous for being one of the oldest settlements in New York State, characterized by its beautifully preserved 17th and 18th-century stone buildings. However, a key environmental advantage highlighted by guests is that despite being in downtown, it's located in a "quiet area." This offers the best of both worlds: immediate access to the vibrant cultural, dining, and shopping scene of Uptown Kingston, coupled with the tranquility needed for a relaxing stay.
Guests can easily walk from the guesthouse to explore the historic streets, visit landmarks like the Senate House State Historic Site and the Old Dutch Church, browse art galleries, and enjoy diverse culinary experiences. The environment is rich with historical significance, and the charming architecture contributes to a unique sense of place. The quiet nature of its specific spot on Wall Street means guests can enjoy the benefits of an urban location without the accompanying noise often found in more bustling city centers. The provision of "off street parking" further enhances the convenience and peace of mind for guests, a valuable amenity in a historic downtown area. This blend of historic urban charm and unexpected quietude makes the environment of Bau Guesthaus particularly appealing.
The services at Bau Guesthaus are characterized by a strong emphasis on guest comfort, attention to detail, and responsive, kind owners. The review explicitly mentions "the owners were very responsive and kind," indicating a high level of personalized hospitality. This direct and caring approach from the owners, identified as S&A, contributes significantly to the overall positive guest experience.
While specific services like a traditional front desk or room service might not be typical for a guesthouse of this nature, the focus appears to be on providing a self-sufficient yet supported stay. Key amenities that contribute to a comfortable stay include "every inch was clean and beautiful," "the bedding smelled amazing," and the presence of "necessary new amenities" alongside "old charm." This implies high standards of cleanliness, fresh linens, and modern conveniences within a historic setting. The provision of "dimmer switches in the bathroom" points to thoughtful touches that enhance comfort and ambiance. Although one review mentioned running "out of hot water on just 1.5 showers," this isolated comment suggests an occasional issue rather than a systemic problem, especially given the overwhelmingly positive feedback. The guesthouse aims to provide a hassle-free experience where guests feel well-cared for and comfortable in a well-maintained space.
Bau Guesthaus's features are a true highlight, showcasing a thoughtful restoration that marries historical character with modern functionality. The property retains "all the old charm" with elements like "antique doorknobs," "high ceilings," and "hardwood floors," which contribute to its authentic historic appeal. These details provide a unique aesthetic that differentiates it from more generic accommodations.
Simultaneously, the guesthouse incorporates "necessary new amenities" for contemporary comfort. This includes features like the aforementioned "dimmer switches in the bathroom," which blend modern convenience with the old-world aesthetic. The emphasis on cleanliness, described as "every inch was clean and beautiful," is a consistent and highly valued feature by guests. The owners' commitment to "making sustainable choices for the space" is another commendable feature, appealing to environmentally conscious travelers. This could manifest in various ways, such as energy-efficient appliances, eco-friendly cleaning products, or recycling programs. The provision of "off street parking area" is a practical and highly convenient feature, especially valuable in a historic downtown area where parking can often be a challenge. The layout, potentially offering a "cool downtown apartment" feel, suggests spacious and self-contained units, perfect for those seeking privacy and a home-like atmosphere during their travels.
For Bau Guesthaus, the primary promotional strategy would be centered around its unique blend of historic authenticity, serene atmosphere, and the exceptional guest satisfaction it consistently delivers. The glowing reviews, particularly the phrase "Amazing perfect... I only wish I could give more stars. Hope to stay there again soon!" are the most powerful promotional tools. This kind of authentic, positive feedback is invaluable for attracting new guests searching for "Hotels Near Me" that promise a truly special experience.
The guesthouse can highlight its "quiet area" and "off street parking" as key benefits, appealing to travelers who desire both urban access and peaceful surroundings. The emphasis on "old charm with necessary new amenities" showcases its ability to offer a unique, aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable stay. Promoting the owners' responsiveness and kindness, and their commitment to "sustainable choices," also aligns with modern traveler values. While direct discounts might not be its main draw, the inherent value of a beautifully maintained, clean, and charming property in a prime Kingston location, coupled with personalized service, provides a strong compelling reason to book. Marketing could target "quiet, introverted couples" or anyone looking for a "relaxing night in a cool downtown apartment," emphasizing the tailored experience it provides.
