I give 2 stars for the assistant manager on duty fixing the situation I had. I booked a double bed room. Walked in and the room is OLD! My allergies instantly started acting up. You can literally see the dust on the carpets building up and the bathroom was disgusting. Somebody with long hair stayed in that room before they assigned it to me. Their hard was all over the bathroom. What’s supposed to be my birthday weekend getaway was not looking promising. Prior to that I was told about this wonderful unlimited brunch experience with them and when my partner and I sat down in the restaurant, it was dull. The menu prices were outrageous! I would not pay that to sit there. No unlimited brunch and no lively atmosphere, onto somewhere else for brunch. Back to the room-assistant manager heard my concerns and transferred us to a king “suite” … cleaner bathroom, cleaner floors but if you pull out the sofa bed, you can barely open the door to the room. A lot of things need to be changed about this hotel for sure! For the amount of money I spent , I could have stayed in a more updated hotel with a pool. Do not just let them charge whatever fee! This girl at the front desk told me I was going to be charged 2 extra fees and after I questioned her on what the fees were, I was only charged the $50 refundable fee.

Convenient hotel location, but that was completely offset by my experience. My hotel room was spacious, but did not have a refrigerator. Staff communication and follow up was poor. My bathroom sink had bad water pressure and I asked on arrival for it to be serviced. After a second reminder, it was finally fixed the day before I checked out. Staff service was even worse after I left. I accidentally left some expensive clothing items hanging in the closet. After being given the run around for five days, I was told that the items were not entered in the lost & found log. The consolation staff offered was that the manager would raise an incident report. Hardly the quality of service one would expect from “a premier boutique hotel” that is the winner of the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

My recent stay at the Beacon Hotel & Corporate Quarters in Washington, DC was extremely disappointing and frustrating from start to finish. As part of a group of 20 visiting the Capitol to meet with Senate and House leaders, we were assured by our travel agent that early check-in would be accommodated. However, upon arrival, we were not even greeted at the front desk and were told we’d have to pay a steep early check-in fee—despite prior arrangements. The staff was unhelpful and dismissive, setting a poor tone for the rest of our stay. The first room I was assigned smelled like an abandoned building—an overpowering stench of mildew that immediately triggered my allergies. The air conditioning was barely functional, which, I later learned, was a common issue among our group’s rooms. I was moved to a second room that wasn’t much better—it lacked basic amenities such as soap, a refrigerator, and even a trash can. The same unpleasant odor lingered, but with a tight schedule and long days at the Capitol, I had little choice but to tolerate it. On our final day, our group held a debriefing in one of the hotel’s event rooms. It was hot, stuffy, and poorly ventilated—unsurprisingly, the air conditioning wasn’t working there either. This lack of basic climate control was consistent throughout the property, including in the elevators, which had a nauseating, lingering smell. The hotel itself is outdated and in serious need of renovation and staff retraining. The breakfast offerings were mediocre at best, and the rooftop bar—which had been a selling point—was inexplicably closed. I cannot in good conscience recommend this hotel to anyone. It’s unprofessional, uncomfortable, and poorly managed. This establishment has a long way to go before it can be considered even remotely suitable for business or leisure travelers. I will never return.

This place is fine. The rooms are a bit dated, but it's not pretending it's the Ritz. 10 minute walk to 2 different metro stops. Really safe neighborhood. Quick walk to Dupont. Check in and check out were easy and painless, and they let us check in early. However, I'm not impressed by the hefty RESORT FEE they throw on top of their normal price. This is a way that hotels get away with advertising lower rates than they really charge, and the fee was about 20% higher than the sticker rate. So I'm docking a star for the shady "resort fee".

I was just there during the first week of April and I loved this hotel. It was perfect for me, the staff was attentive, my room was clean. I would like to especially recognize Mimi at the bar, she is so sweet & friendly. Mimi, if you get a chance to read this, I’m the severe autism mom from Colorado, we got a picture together. I think you are amazing and wanted to thank you for everything! Christine Kincaid
