We stayed here one night so that we would be closer to the airport. BIG mistake. The room was filthy. I was afraid to touch anything. The smell of weed was everywhere. Was woken at 12:30am to a very loud couple (rooms can rented by the hour). Enough said.
For local users exploring options on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, the BLUE BIRD INN in Jamaica, New York, may appear as an available lodging choice. This category of hotels is typically sought by individuals needing immediate, often budget-friendly, accommodation for short periods, whether for airport proximity, a temporary local stay, or accommodating unexpected needs. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the BLUE BIRD INN, detailing its location, analyzing its reported environment, outlining its services and features based on available information, and critically integrating the strong and consistent themes from customer reviews to offer a realistic picture of what a potential guest might expect.
The BLUE BIRD INN is located at 138-68 94th Ave, Jamaica, NY 11435, USA. This address places it within Jamaica, Queens, a borough of New York City. Its location suggests proximity to major transportation hubs, including John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), which is often a key consideration for hotels in this specific area. While not directly adjacent to the airport, it is within a reasonable distance that would make it accessible for travelers needing an overnight stay before or after a flight. For local users, this means it's situated in an urban residential and commercial area, with potential access to local shops and services. The immediate environment of 94th Avenue would typically reflect the urban landscape of Queens. The hotel's phone numbers, (718) 523-8383 and +1 718-523-8383, are provided for direct contact regarding inquiries or reservations, a standard feature for properties listed on "Hotels Near Of Me."
Regarding the environment of the BLUE BIRD INN, the customer reviews provide an overwhelmingly negative and concerning picture, which is critical for any potential guest to consider. The most prominent theme across the feedback is extreme lack of cleanliness. Guests have described rooms as "filthy" and "absolutely disgusting," with one harrowing account detailing "Literal bile was all over the mattress, walls, and bathroom floor in multiple rooms we were shown." This suggests severe issues with hygiene and maintenance that extend beyond isolated incidents. Pervasive unpleasant odors are also a significant complaint, with one reviewer noting "The smell of weed was everywhere." This indicates a potentially unregulated or poorly managed environment regarding smoking and other activities within the premises. Furthermore, the hotel's atmosphere appears to be significantly impacted by disruptive noise, as a guest reported being "woken at 12:30 am to a very loud couple (rooms can be rented by the hour)." The implication that "rooms can be rented by the hour" further suggests an environment that may prioritize short-term, transient stays over a peaceful and secure lodging experience typically sought by travelers. The description of the hotel as a "dumpster fire waiting to happen" due to cleanliness and potential safety hazards (e.g., "No smoke detectors," "broken hair dryer plug in part," "debris in the heater") paints a dire picture of the internal environment, severely impacting comfort and safety perceptions. The general impression is of an establishment that fails to meet basic standards of cleanliness and guest comfort, creating a highly undesirable and potentially unsafe environment.
The services and features provided by the BLUE BIRD INN, based on the customer feedback, appear to be minimal and, where present, severely compromised in quality. Basic amenities such as a room, bed, and television are implied, as one review states "tv worked." However, the functionality and safety of these features are questionable, given the mention of a "broken hair dryer plug in part" and "debris in the heater." The core service of providing a clean and safe place to sleep is consistently undermined by the reviews. The lack of soundproofing is a significant issue for any hotel, particularly one that may cater to short-term, high-turnover guests, as evidenced by being "not soundproof" and guests being "woken at 12:30 am to a very loud couple." The absence of "smoke detectors" is a critical safety concern, indicating a potential disregard for fundamental safety regulations. While a manager was described as "nice," this positive individual interaction does not compensate for the widespread and severe deficiencies in the hotel's fundamental services, particularly cleanliness and safety. For a "Hotels Near Of Me" search, where basic and reliable accommodation is expected, the BLUE BIRD INN appears to fall significantly short on providing even these fundamental services in an acceptable manner.
From a promotional perspective, any standard advertising for the BLUE BIRD INN would typically highlight its location in Jamaica, NY, and potentially its affordability for a short stay. However, the overwhelming and consistent negative customer reviews render any such promotional efforts highly ineffective. The direct quotes from guests like "BIG mistake," "The room was filthy. I was afraid to touch anything," and the explicit warnings of a "dumpster fire waiting to happen" serve as powerful deterrents. The implications of hourly room rentals, pervasive weed smell, and severe lack of cleanliness mean that the hotel's actual guest experience is drastically different from what a typical hotel advertisement might suggest. For local users accessing "Hotels Near Of Me" with the expectation of finding a decent, even if budget-friendly, place to stay, these reviews are absolutely crucial. They indicate that despite its availability, the BLUE BIRD INN might not be a suitable choice for those prioritizing hygiene, safety, or a peaceful night's rest. The objective assessment based on the provided information paints a picture of a property with significant and concerning issues that outweigh any potential advantages of its location or affordability.

Jul 21, 2021 · Shakina HenryMmmmmmm really bad really sad. There were beds and there was a bathroom w a flushing toilet. Everything seemed and was dirty. Bathroom fan did not work. A/C blew cold once you stood up on the bed to turn it on, but room was always humid. Noisy, practically no difference in sound between inside and outside the room. There were lots of scary people (men) who were often in the hotel. Fitness center stores cleaning supplies. Best part of the stay: nice man front desk worker who after we tried our ONE KEY CARD on the door for about 8 minutes brought us two new working ones bc he just knew we needed them. Literally no lights or trash cans. The only light in the room was ALSO a black light. Location close to air train and subway. Also close to live chicken store.
Jul 31, 2022 · Julia ZahnChecked in the same day. Got my first room with no working AC in the middle of that NYC heatwave in the summer of 2022, promptly got another room of the same type with a better view. It's a block away from one of the subway stations so it is ideal for leaving your car there since parking, while limited, is free.
