I was here for a work conference which is the only reason I would book this hotel. It's fairly far from the airport and really not much around the area to do. The hotel is basically 2 motel wings with an indoor "atrium" that has a pool and some gazebos. The common areas were fine but the hotel is very dated. The restaurant was pretty good I had the burger which was tasty. The only bright spot was that the service was great. The employees are super friendly and work hard. My rating is based on the fact that the rooms were old and pretty run down.
For those navigating the "Hotels Near Of Me" category and seeking a versatile venue that combines accommodation with extensive event capabilities, the Boxboro Regency Hotel & Conference Center presents a notable option. Located at 242 Adams Pl, Boxborough, MA 01719, USA, and reachable via phone at (978) 263-8701 or mobile at +1 978-263-8701, this hotel is well-known for its unique indoor atrium and its robust conference facilities.
Customer reviews offer a dual perspective on the Boxboro Regency. While some highlight its dated appearance, particularly in the guest rooms, the consistent praise for its exceptional staff and strong performance as an event venue is a recurring theme. This suggests that while the physical aspects of the hotel may be "old and pretty run down" in certain areas, the service and event execution are standout features.
The defining characteristic of the Boxboro Regency Hotel & Conference Center's environment is its expansive indoor "atrium." This central area, typically featuring a large swimming pool, gazebos, and lush greenery, creates a unique, almost resort-like atmosphere indoors. The guest rooms are situated in "two motel wings" that surround this atrium. While the common areas, including the atrium, are generally described as "fine," guests frequently note that the hotel, particularly the rooms, can appear "very dated" and "old and pretty run down." This suggests a blend of well-maintained public spaces designed for events and older guest room accommodations.
The hotel is designed to manage significant foot traffic, especially during conferences, conventions, and other large gatherings. This can create a lively and bustling atmosphere in the common areas, particularly when events are in full swing. However, the dated aspects of the rooms may impact the overall comfort and modern expectations of some travelers. The contrast between the vibrant event spaces and the traditional guest room aesthetics is a key aspect of its ambiance. The hotel is a smoke-free property, ensuring a clean air environment for all guests.
The Boxboro Regency Hotel & Conference Center offers a wide range of services and amenities, with a strong emphasis on catering to both individual guests and large group events. A significant draw is the on-site dining options. The hotel features a restaurant, Minuteman Grille, which has received positive feedback for its food quality (e.g., "the burger which was tasty"). There is also a lounge/bar, Minuteman Lounge, and a coffee shop/cafe for lighter fare and beverages. While specific breakfast details are not always highlighted, guests can generally expect breakfast options, likely available for a charge or included in certain packages.
For recreation, the hotel's prominent indoor heated pool within the atrium is a major amenity, offering a unique swimming experience year-round. There is also a 24-hour fitness center equipped with cardio machines, ellipticals, exercise bikes, free weights, strength equipment, and treadmills, allowing guests to maintain their workout routines. Other recreational features include a game room.
As a dedicated conference center, the hotel excels in providing extensive meeting and event facilities. With 30,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including a Grand Ballroom, the hotel is well-equipped for a variety of gatherings, from corporate conferences to weddings and themed conventions. Event planners consistently praise the staff for being "absolutely incredible—friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything runs smoothly." They also commend the "consistently delicious and beautifully presented" food catering, with options for various dietary needs.
Standard hotel services include a 24-hour front desk, complimentary wired and wireless internet access in public areas and guest rooms, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage. Each of the 143 air-conditioned guest rooms is equipped with conveniences such as refrigerators, microwaves, coffee/tea makers, irons/ironing boards, and flat-screen televisions with cable channels. Bathrooms typically feature shower/tub combinations, complimentary toiletries, and hair dryers. The hotel also offers accessible rooms, including those with roll-in showers and grab bars, ensuring comfort for guests with mobility needs. Pet-friendly policies are in place, although a fee may apply, and pets are typically required to be crated when unattended.
The "atrium" is undeniably the most distinguishing feature of the Boxboro Regency Hotel & Conference Center. This central, climate-controlled space with its large pool provides a memorable and unique setting, especially appealing to families and groups. It serves as a natural gathering point and adds a leisure element not commonly found in typical conference hotels.
The "staff is the selling point," according to multiple reviews. The consistently "super friendly" and "hard-working" employees, who are praised for being "kind and informative" and for "going the extra mile," significantly elevate the guest experience. This level of exceptional service can often outweigh minor deficiencies in the physical property, creating a positive lasting impression. This is particularly crucial for event organizers who rely on seamless execution and responsive support.
Its robust conference and event capabilities are another key feature. The hotel's experience in hosting various conventions and gatherings, coupled with positive feedback on its catering and event management, makes it a preferred choice for organizers in the region. This positions it strongly within the "Hotels Near Of Me" category for those planning or attending events in the Boxborough area.
The Boxboro Regency Hotel & Conference Center’s promotional appeal is heavily tied to its event capabilities and its unique atrium. For organizations, it offers a full-service event solution with experienced staff and catering. For individual travelers, particularly those attending events, it provides convenient on-site accommodation.
While the hotel's location is noted as being "fairly far from the airport and really not much around the area to do" for casual tourists, its value proposition for event attendees is significant. The hotel provides complimentary self-parking, which is a valuable amenity, particularly for those driving to events. While specific, time-sensitive promotions would need to be checked directly with the hotel, its core offering of a unique indoor environment, comprehensive event services, and highly-regarded staff contributes to its overall value.
Guests seeking a modern, boutique hotel experience might find the rooms dated. However, those prioritizing excellent service, a lively event atmosphere, and a distinctive indoor pool environment will likely find the Boxboro Regency to be a suitable choice within the "Hotels Near Of Me" search. It's a hotel that leans into its strengths as a comprehensive conference and event venue, relying on its dedicated team to deliver a positive experience despite some physical aging.

Apr 04, 2025 · East Coast Vintage VixensI honestly don’t know where to begin with how horrible my stay at the Boxboro Regency Hotel was. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. To start, the room was an absolute disaster. The moment I walked in, I was assaulted by a strong, musty smell that made it impossible to breathe. Upon further inspection, I noticed black mold on the walls and ceiling—disgusting. It’s beyond me how any hotel could let this level of filth slide, and yet here we are. The bathroom was filthy, with rust stains all over the shower fixtures and the grout looking like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. And then, the air conditioning. It didn’t work at all. The room was sweltering, and after hours of being uncomfortable, I reached out to the staff to fix the issue. They were completely dismissive and refused to send anyone to address the problem, telling me that they didn't turn the air conditioning on until "the hot season". So, I had to spend the entire night in a hot, sticky room—another reason this place is a complete failure. I decided to check out the pool to see if that would redeem the experience. Spoiler alert: it didn’t. The pool water was freezing cold, not heated as they claim, and there was rust all over the railing and tiles. When I tried to bring up my concerns to the staff, they were completely unhelpful and made it clear they couldn't care less. No apologies, no solutions—just an awful attitude all around. This hotel is an absolute disgrace. Between the mold, broken air conditioning, filthy bathroom, and unusable pool, there’s nothing good to say about this place. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else. I will NEVER be returning to the Boxboro Regency, and I strongly recommend you avoid it as well.
