Me, my husband and 3 kids ages 6, 11, and 16 stayed here during Hurricane Helene. The rooms were very nice and clean. We didn't get to experience the lodge at it's full operation because the power went out and then cell service. But the staff was extremely helpful, they kept the breakfast stuff out all day, and people would also put food with it so everyone could eat. The front desk worker ( I have forgotten his name) was very friendly and tried to get people information if he could about what was open ( stores or roads).

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Brookstone Lodge, and I have to give a special shoutout to Kris at the front desk. From the moment I arrived, Kris made me feel welcome with her friendly smile, professionalism, and genuine care for guests. She made check-in a breeze, answered all my questions with patience, and even gave me great recommendations for local spots to visit. It’s rare to meet someone who clearly loves what she does and goes above and beyond to make sure guests feel at home. Kris truly made my stay memorable — thank you for the outstanding service!

Everything was wonderful. The late night attendant, Sheldon was excellent as well! Had everything we needed ready to go. Room was clean and quiet. Only issue was traffic noise was a little loud, but we put on some white noise and was peaceful thereafter!

Room layout was very odd and difficult to function in. Who puts the light switch that controls both bedside lamps BEHIND a sliding door? The room had spots where liquid clearly sat on some of the hard surfaces in the room upon arrival. The shower leaked on the floor due to the shower door configuration and the bathroom had no fan. The bed was semi comfortable aside from the sinkhole in the center of it. Overall the stay wasn't unenjoyable and the room was a fair price for what you get, but it could have been better.
