The Cambridge Hotel is a distinctive hotel located in New York City, offering accommodation to travelers seeking a place to stay near major attractions. Situated at 141 W 110th St, New York, NY 10026, this establishment has long been a point of interest for those exploring the area. The Cambridge Hotel provides basic lodging services, catering primarily to individuals enrolled in state social programs and emergency housing needs.
The hotel's environment is notable for its historical architecture and central location. Guests can easily access nearby landmarks such as Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Upper West Side's dining and shopping options. However, it is important to note that this property caters to a specific clientele, which has resulted in mixed reviews from past guests.
While the Cambridge Hotel offers affordable rates and a unique perspective on New York City life, several guests have highlighted concerns regarding its safety, cleanliness, and overall maintenance standards. The facility has been described as old and outdated, with limited security measures. Additionally, some reviews mention issues with pests and rodent infestations, which could be a significant concern for health-conscious travelers.
Guests staying at the Cambridge Hotel have access to basic amenities such as shared or private rooms, depending on availability. However, the property does not offer luxury services like a spa, swimming pool, or fine dining options. Instead, it focuses on providing functional lodging for those in need of temporary housing.
One of the most notable aspects of the Cambridge Hotel is its role in the state's social housing program. It operates under the New York City Housing Authority, which means it adheres to specific guidelines and standards set forth by government regulations. While this ensures some level of accountability, it has also led to criticism regarding the quality of services provided.
Customer feedback reveals a wide range of opinions about the Cambridge Hotel. Many guests appreciate its central location and affordable prices. However, others have expressed strong dissatisfaction with their experiences, citing safety concerns, poor maintenance, and a lack of basic amenities like private bathrooms in some rooms. One guest described the hotel as "dangerous" and noted that it catered primarily to HIV patients living in emergency housing.
Given these reviews, it is clear that the Cambridge Hotel caters to a specific audience and may not be suitable for all travelers. Those seeking budget-friendly accommodations in New York City who are willing to compromise on luxury and amenities might find it an acceptable option. However, anyone prioritizing safety, cleanliness, and modern facilities should consider other hotels in the area.
