Overall a very nice place to stay. The standout points for us were: - Very comfortable bedding. - Extremely nice and well equipped kitchen- the cooktop was even induction! - Very good lighting. Dimmable from "way too bright" to "quite dim". Pick what you want. - It was very nice to have a fireplace. But it turned out this was more essential than a luxury (see below). - The help desk was very responsive to emails and helped sort things out. We even got an early check in so we wouldn't have to mess around until the 4PM official check in time. - Keypad doors and no "front desk" set up work very well. Not so nice: - We got there when the temps were changing and it was 50 degrees outside AND inside. But the climate control was locked on "cool" and we couldn't change it. The only solution was to turn on the gas fireplace. This worked, but it took forever before the room was comfortable. - The bay window is nice, but it only has horizontal blinds and cars are driving around back there shining their headlights at the window. Lots of light gets through, which can make it difficult to sleep. Curtains of some kind to better block the light would help. Things to know: - If you want ice you'll need to turn the icemaker on in the freezer. If the fridge/freezers are all the save it's a switch on the side of the icemaker in the upper freezer drawer. - You will need to take out the trash and recycling yourself when you leave. - There's a laundry room in the basement. We only noticed this when taking out the trash as we were leaving.

For added convenience, a laundry room is available in the basement, a useful amenity for longer stays or for those who prefer to travel light. Parking is available upon request for an additional fee, a significant advantage in a city like Boston where parking can be challenging.
Charlesgate Suites offers a range of features designed to make guests feel at home, often likened to having a fully functional studio apartment. A standout feature in many suites is the extremely nice and well-equipped kitchen, which includes stone countertops, a dishwasher, disposal, refrigerator with an icemaker (which guests will need to activate in the freezer), microwave, Nespresso coffee maker, and even an induction cooktop. These fully stocked kitchens allow guests the flexibility to prepare their own meals, enhancing the sense of a home away from home. The lighting in the suites is very good, with dimmable options to suit various preferences. The presence of a gas fireplace in many units adds to the comfort and ambiance, and can even be a practical solution for warmth during cooler transitions, as noted by past guests. Each suite also includes a dedicated work desk area, catering to business travelers or those working remotely. Entertainment is covered with large flat-screen smart TVs, offering premium satellite channels and first-run movies. The sleeping areas feature luxurious king-size beds with high-quality linens, ensuring a very comfortable night's sleep. Bathrooms are updated with a charming vintage appearance, offering vanities with ample cabinetry and counter space, as well as full-size closets, and stand-up showers enclosed by sleek glass with great water pressure. Central heat and air conditioning are standard, though some guests have noted occasional issues with temperature control during transitional weather, which can be mitigated by using the in-room fireplace.
While the bay windows offer nice views, some guests have suggested that additional curtains to better block light from passing car headlights would enhance sleep quality. Guests are also reminded to take out their trash and recycling upon departure, a small but important detail for this aparthotel setup.

Apr 16, 2025 · Brian SchulzA wonderful place to stay! Just stayed here for a couple nights while on a trip to visit family. The building & rooms are so full of charm while having everything you'd need. It's like having a studio apartment in a great location with lots of functionality. Staff was always very communicative and helpful when reached out to, and the place was also kept super clean. Would totally book here again!
Nov 05, 2024 · Neesha MahadeoThe check in was flawless, all done by electronic key pad. The entrance was beautiful, well lit, with the charm of old Boston with its hand painted wallpaper and winding staircase. Our suite on the second floor was easy to get to and had more than enough room for my husband and I. It was very open, airy, and clean with a kitchenette stocked with dishes, pots, pans, silverware, all you needed to make a meal. There is also a Nespresso machine which worked nicely and gave us a yummy cup of coffee as we sat on the couch and relaxed. The bathroom is large, the shower worked perfect and the water pressure was amazing. The bed was so comfy, I think we slept the whole night through. Also, you couldn’t hear the Boston traffic, which was a plus. We did reserve a parking spot for the time we were there which worked out great, we could see our car from the room. The owners were very attentive and informative, we could get in touch by text and they always returned the text within a few hours. We will definitely go back.
Apr 25, 2024 · Sue BiliourisMy daughter and I only got to stay for a few days. We were checking out BU and the location was great! We had a 4th floor room and the view of Cambridge & Charles River was beautiful. We contacted the hotel a few times and they responded within 10 min every time. They were kind and courteous. The coffee in the room was delicious and I appreciated the real creamer instead of powder. Such a beautiful room! We will definitely stay here again!
Jun 08, 2024 · Kari KellyWe came down for the Red Sox game and had to book a room close to last minute. The booking process was extremely easy and accommodating for what we needed. They answered any and all questions I had quickly and when we got there and my pin didn’t work they immediately set us up with a new one and it was smooth sailing for there out!! 100% would recommend and book with these gray people again!!
