We checked in here after taking our son to ride the Polar Express. This hotel seemed like one of the nicer ones in the area. The good news is that they don’t charge an incidental at check-in, which is super helpful. When we first checked in, it was around 10pm, and my husband and I both agreed that the first front desk staff member we saw was very racist. I would hand her my card and held my hand back out for her to hand it back to me and she kept placing it on the desk. She did this again with the receipt and then I tried making small talk with her. It may have just been late, but she really acted like she didn’t want us to be there at all. She kept looking at me like I was beneath her and that I don’t have the right to even talk to her. The room we got smelled like a wet dog the entire night. I’m glad we didn’t have to sleep in the car at least. Upon check out early the next morning, another lady was there and she was very sweet. The lady who set up the breakfast was kind too. It’s just the first woman we talked to made us feel like we were the wrong skin color and it was just an icky feeling that I’m not even used to. If you feel you’re the right skin color, consider this place for your vacation. If not, maybe reconsider. It’s at your discretion.

Cherokee Inn Introduce

For individuals and families exploring options under "Hotels Near Of Me" in the vibrant town of Cherokee, North Carolina, Cherokee Inn presents itself as a notable choice. Located at 185 Tsalagi Rd, Cherokee, NC 28719, USA, and reachable via phone at (828) 497-3115 or +1 828-497-3115, this hotel aims to provide a convenient and comfortable stay, often highlighted for its proximity to key attractions and its value-oriented amenities.

Environment and Location:

Cherokee Inn benefits significantly from its strategic location. Situated on Tsalagi Road, it offers excellent proximity to Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Event Center, a major draw for many visitors to the area. This makes it an ideal choice for guests attending concerts, events, or simply enjoying the casino's gaming and entertainment offerings. The hotel's position also places it within easy reach of other local attractions, including the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, the Oconaluftee Indian Village, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, providing ample opportunities for cultural immersion and outdoor activities. The immediate environment around the hotel is typical of a tourist-friendly area, with various dining options and shops potentially within a short drive. While not directly on a river or with expansive natural views from every room, its strength lies in its accessibility to the heart of Cherokee's tourism.

Services and Features:

Cherokee Inn focuses on providing essential services and features to ensure a comfortable stay. One of the widely appreciated aspects is that the hotel does not charge an incidental fee at check-in, which can be a significant convenience for guests. The rooms are generally described as clean, and the beds are noted for their comfort, contributing to a restful night's sleep. For guests seeking a quiet environment, the hotel has been reported as surprisingly quiet, even on a Friday night, which is a positive attribute for a hotel in a tourist-heavy area.

A notable amenity offered by Cherokee Inn is a complimentary breakfast, which is described as decent and provides a convenient start to the day for guests. While specific details about the breakfast items are not provided, the availability of a free breakfast adds considerable value to the stay. While not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews, typically, hotels in this category offer free Wi-Fi and ample parking. The hotel usually has a 24-hour front desk to assist guests with their needs at any time.

However, it is crucial to present a balanced perspective based on all available feedback. One review highlighted a deeply concerning experience regarding alleged racial discrimination during check-in, where the first front desk staff member reportedly displayed unwelcoming behavior towards the guests based on their perceived skin color. This included deliberately placing items on the desk instead of handing them directly and exhibiting an unwelcoming demeanor. While later interactions with other staff members, including a different lady at checkout and the breakfast attendant, were described as very sweet and kind, this initial experience significantly impacted the guest's perception of the hotel. Another guest mentioned a room smelling like a "wet dog" for the entire night. These specific issues, while potentially isolated, indicate that guest experiences can vary significantly, particularly concerning staff interactions and room conditions. Such feedback is important for potential guests to consider when evaluating their options.

Promotional Information and Unique Aspects:

Cherokee Inn's primary promotional strength lies in its strategic location and value proposition. Its close proximity to Harrah's Cherokee Casino and Event Center is a major draw for individuals attending events or enjoying the casino. The inclusion of a complimentary breakfast and the absence of an incidental fee at check-in further enhance its appeal as a budget-friendly option in the area. For travelers who prioritize convenience and affordability, these features are significant benefits.

The hotel's ability to offer clean rooms and comfortable beds, as noted by positive reviews, forms a solid foundation for a pleasant stay. The quiet atmosphere, despite being in a busy tourist hub, is another unexpected positive that contributes to guest satisfaction. However, the serious nature of the reported racial discrimination incident at check-in is a critical piece of information that prospective guests should be aware of, as it speaks to aspects of the guest experience beyond just physical amenities. While such experiences can be subjective and isolated, they are an important part of the overall objective introduction. It is advisable for guests to always exercise their discretion and consider all available reviews when making a booking decision. For those looking for a hotel with a strong focus on location and basic comforts near the casino, Cherokee Inn could be a suitable choice, keeping in mind the variability of guest experiences and the importance of professional and welcoming service for all patrons.

Very convenient location to Harrah's casino and event center. Room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Quiet too for a Friday night stay. They offer a decent complimentary breakfast too.
