We found a nice quaint and quiet motel here in Cherokee! The owners, Mark and Sue, are fabulous people! The office area has such curb appeal. It's obvious you take care of your place. Coffee and breakfast sandwiches are served in their outside covered dining area each morning. There's also a microwave located there since there's isn't one in the room. Each room has two rocking chairs outside their front doors. Our room was very clean, and no bugs were seen. Upon entering, there is a slight musty smell, but you get used to it the longer you're in there. There aren't any sheers in the window, so we had to keep the blinds closed, which made the room dim. Another lamp on the desk could solve the dimness. The mattress was great, along with the water pressure in the shower. We so enjoyed our stay here. If we're ever back here again, we're staying here.

It stands as a testament to how a well-maintained and customer-focused motel can provide a more personalized and memorable experience than larger, more impersonal accommodations.

Environment: Peaceful and Perfectly Located

Rolling Hills Lodge offers a setting that is both peaceful and remarkably convenient. Guests consistently describe it as a "nice quaint and quiet motel," which is a significant advantage for those seeking a tranquil escape while remaining close to Cherokee's main attractions. The "office area has such curb appeal," reflecting the owners' dedication to maintaining a welcoming and attractive property. The lodge is located in what is considered the "cultural section of the Cherokee reservation," meaning many key points of interest are within walking distance.

Despite being on Tsali Boulevard, a main thoroughfare, the lodge manages to maintain a serene atmosphere. Some guests have even reported seeing elk visit the property, adding to the authentic mountain experience. The Oconaluftee River is located across the street, contributing to the natural beauty of the surroundings. This prime location allows guests to explore the town without constantly needing a car, with attractions like Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual, the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, and the "Unto These Hills" Outdoor Drama easily accessible on foot. While the casino is a short drive away, the lodge's immediate vicinity offers a more culturally rich and relaxed environment, described by guests as the "new side of town."

Services and Amenities: Attentive Care and Essential Comforts

Rolling Hills Lodge excels in providing attentive service and a range of practical amenities that enhance guest comfort. The owners, Mark and Sue, are consistently highlighted as "fabulous people" and "super accommodating," creating a truly personalized and friendly atmosphere. Key services and amenities include:

This goes beyond a basic continental offering, providing a delightful start to the day.

Features: A Refreshed Classic Motel Experience

Rolling Hills Lodge, built in 2016 (though appearing to have been updated or rebuilt with a classic style), combines the convenience of a traditional motel with modern interior comforts. It comprises 30 air-conditioned guestrooms accessible via exterior corridors, each uniquely furnished and decorated. This individual touch gives the lodge a character distinct from chain hotels.

While some guests noted a "slight musty smell" upon entering which dissipates, and issues with window sheers that necessitated keeping blinds closed for privacy, these minor points are generally outweighed by the positive aspects. The "updated and modern" bathrooms, spacious rooms, and comfortable king beds (where applicable) contribute to a pleasant stay. The "good location for tourists in Cherokee" is consistently highlighted, offering the best of both worlds: a quiet retreat that is also very accessible to the cultural and entertainment centers.

Beyond the immediate property, Rolling Hills Lodge's features extend to its proximity to outdoor activities such as hiking, biking (including the Fire Mountain Trail system), ziplining, and fishing. For those interested in gaming, a casino shuttle is available for a surcharge to Harrah's Cherokee Casino, which is approximately 2.1 miles away. The lodge also has a gift shop and can provide tour/ticket assistance. For safety, the property is equipped with carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, a security system, a first aid kit, and window guards.

It's worth noting that the lodge has a strict no-pet policy, with the exception of service animals, and does not accommodate parties or events.

Promotional Information: "The Best Place to Go" in Cherokee

Rolling Hills Lodge actively promotes itself through glowing guest testimonials and a focus on its key strengths: exceptional customer service, cleanliness, and value. The phrase "The best thing about the stay was the pleasant staff and the breakfast" encapsulates the core appeal. Awards like the "Cherokee Pride Award for Exceptional Customer Service" and "TripAdvisor's Best in Excellence and Travelers Choice Awards" reinforce its reputation.

For individuals searching for "Hotels Near Of Me" in Cherokee, Rolling Hills Lodge offers a compelling promise of a "quaint and quiet" stay with personalized attention. The mention of its location on the "Elk Trail" and the possibility of seeing elk on the property adds to its unique promotional appeal. Guests are encouraged to book directly through their website or popular travel platforms, noting the typical check-in time of 3:00 PM and check-out by 11:00 AM. It's important to be aware of the 3% credit card surcharge and cancellation policies, which require cancellation 48 hours prior to arrival to avoid charges. The lodge clearly positions itself as a "home away from home" and a "nice getaway," making it a highly recommended choice for a pleasant and authentic Cherokee experience.

The best thing about the stay was the pleasant staff and the breakfast. I used a hair clip to keep the curtains closed. At least the room was clean. I still can't believe I paid almost $100 for that night. I took room and outside pictures because the ones I saw on the website were misleading to me. The location is good for tourists in Cherokee.

It’s not as advertised. They don’t allow smoking anywhere on property yet none of their rooms are described as nonsmoking. The description I saw today has a small detail about a smoking fee. They show a lobby in the pictures yet they ask you to check in thru a window. Entering the room, you are fragrance bombed by five different air fresheners they have sitting around to mask odor. The owner was overly aggressive when I shared concerns about not being able to smoke outside to the point I decided I didn’t want to stay there anymore. He then became more enraged, screaming I wouldn’t receive a refund and don’t leave him negative review, while pointing in my face. I handed the key to the man working at the window. The man stood shocked, then screamed dad, after watching this play out. Clearly not his first time seeing this happen. I reminded him I’m a customer and definitely couldn’t stay there after the way he acted. I left. I feel their description and pictures show angles of the property to lure you in. When you arrive the place looks like unkept trailer homes connected together with a gravel parking lot. I felt like I had been pranked. It didn’t look safe to me and the owner didn’t create a welcoming environment. Not to mention they sale the room non-refundable and try to use it to keep you there.

Oh my gosh! What a cute cozy suite! The owner was beyond helpful and nice! An experience we will cherish a lifetime! Not to mention His wife. She makes an incredible breakfast and it’s 6 mins away from the casino! You couldn’t ask for a better place to stay!
