Room smelled humid. The carpet was a disaster. Not much compliments on the bathroom. Pool was closed. They should tell you that the pool is closed in their advertising. Breakfast is minimal and you better go early because they close quick. We were told breakfast was until 9:30 we went at 8:45 and it was closed. Housekeeping persons were nice.
Congress Hotel and Suites, situated at 5885 Oakbrook Pkwy, Norcross, GA 30093, USA, presents itself as a practical and budget-conscious option for travelers seeking accommodations in the Gwinnett County area. The Congress Hotel and Suites is located in Norcross, a bustling suburb northeast of Atlanta. This area of Gwinnett County is characterized by a mix of commercial, industrial, and residential zones. The hotel's position on Oakbrook Parkway places it with relatively easy access to I-85, a major interstate connecting Norcross to downtown Atlanta and other significant points of interest. This makes it a convenient stop for travelers passing through or those conducting business in the Norcross, Peachtree Corners, or Duluth areas.
The immediate environment around the hotel is typical of a suburban commercial district, with a variety of businesses, restaurants, and retail outlets in the vicinity. While not in the heart of a major tourist hub, its accessibility to the interstate means that attractions in broader Atlanta, such as the Infinite Energy Center, Stone Mountain Park, and various downtown Atlanta sights, are reachable by car, though typically requiring a 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic. For those visiting Gwinnett County for business, trade shows, or local events, the hotel's location offers a functional base.
Congress Hotel and Suites offers a range of services and amenities designed to cater to a diverse guest base, including those on a budget or requiring extended stays. A notable amenity is the complimentary breakfast, though guest experiences indicate that its availability and variety might be limited. Free Wi-Fi is generally provided in rooms and public areas, allowing guests to stay connected. The hotel also features an on-site restaurant, providing a dining option without having to leave the premises.
For convenience, the hotel typically offers a 24-hour front desk, ensuring assistance is available around the clock. Parking is usually free, which is a definite advantage for guests traveling with their own vehicles. Some hotels in this category may offer pet-friendly accommodations, though it's always advisable to confirm specific policies and potential fees directly with the hotel. Meeting and event facilities might also be available for small gatherings or corporate events, appealing to business travelers.
However, it is important to objectively present the services and amenities in light of customer feedback. For instance, while a pool might be advertised or expected, reviews indicate that the pool can be closed, and this information is not always clearly communicated. Similarly, while breakfast is offered, its limited selection and early closing times have been points of concern for some guests.
The Congress Hotel and Suites aims to provide a functional and affordable stay. Its key features likely include standard guest rooms and potentially suites designed for longer durations, which is evident from a review mentioning "extended stay here for good prices." Rooms typically come with basic amenities such as a private bathroom, television, and air conditioning. The common areas, particularly the front lobby and dining area, appear to make a positive initial impression, with one reviewer noting "an impressive front with a nice dining area."
However, real customer reviews highlight several areas where the hotel's features and guest experience might fall short for some expectations. These include:
Despite these challenges, a recurring positive theme in customer feedback is the helpfulness and pleasant demeanor of the staff, particularly at the front desk and housekeeping. One reviewer explicitly stated, "The gentleman at the front desk was so nice and personable," and "Housekeeping persons were nice." This suggests that while the physical aspects of the property may need attention, the human element of service often leaves a favorable impression, which can significantly impact the overall guest experience. As one guest summarized, "Overall, it was an ok stay because of the front desk being so attentive and pleasant."
Given its position as a potentially budget-friendly option in the "Hotels Near Of Me" category, Congress Hotel and Suites would likely offer competitive pricing, especially for longer stays. While specific promotions are not provided in the input, hotels in this segment often feature:
Travelers looking for a value-oriented stay in Norcross should contact the hotel directly or check major online travel agencies for current rates and any special offers. It is advisable to inquire about the operational status of amenities like the pool and the exact timings for breakfast to manage expectations effectively before booking.
In conclusion, Congress Hotel and Suites in Norcross, GA, serves as a functional and cost-effective accommodation choice, particularly for those on extended stays or looking for a basic place to rest near I-85. While it receives praise for its friendly and attentive staff, potential guests should be aware of the reported issues concerning room maintenance and the limited scope of certain amenities. It offers a no-frills approach to hospitality, where the value proposition lies in its affordability and the helpfulness of its team.

Nov 04, 2019 · Judith HernandezWas a decent hotel with nice staff and an impressive front with a nice dining area. However the rooms seem to be a bit archaic as the walls were peeling off and the water pressure was low on the sinks and in the shower. More over you could hear other peoples TVs pretty well from the room I was in which was annoying cause someone left their TV on all night and it was loud. Other then being picky about those things it's a nice hotel but I feel I could get a much more quality stay for just 10 more dollars at Marriott. Other than that it's good to note they have extended stay here for good prices.
Dec 25, 2018 · DanielHave not stayed yet, but Ann at the reception desk was kind to give a key to check a room (deluxe suite). As others mentioned, carpet can use a good shampoo. For the money for $70 a night, it is not bad. BTW the pool is closed for the season once schools started.
Aug 14, 2019 · Tom OhThis hotel is sooooo filthy. There are so many bugs on the floor, couch, and even the beds. We had to kill a cockroach crawling away from the sofa. Flies constantly fly around the room. The hallways are dimly lit and poorly ventilated. There is no A/C out in the hallways so it reeks an awful smell. The bathroom door knob was broken so did not lock. My family members were bit by sitting on the beds. Yes, the rate is cheap but it's so dirty. Please stay away from this establishment. They even use a portable A/C in the lobby. The worst hotel(?) I've had the chance of being in. You can see for yourself if you decide to stay here but if you don't like the room, don't touch or use anything in the room and immediately ask for a refund. Just don't stay here even if it's the last place you can book.
Jul 23, 2019 · H TThe suite room is nice but it just need to be cleaned out well..The hall way smell bad. Need to hire more people to clean the hotel better...
