I booked my wedding hotel block here. The bridal and groomsman suites were spacious and great for getting ready. We also stayed in the 1 King Room Suite and it was massive! Definitely a great option for a family or bridal party to get ready in. Very modern and updated. Hotel was great for getting ready photos as well! The location is rough with parking, one elevator working, but overall it worked. The bar was opened till about 2am and they had nice breakfast options for the next morning.

DoubleTree by Hilton Poughkeepsie Introduce

For local users exploring options on the "Hotels Near Of Me" platform, the DoubleTree by Hilton Poughkeepsie, located at 40 Civic Center Plaza, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, USA, presents itself as a prominent choice, particularly for those seeking a centrally located hotel with extensive event capabilities. The hotel can be reached directly at (845) 485-5300 or +1 845-485-5300. As a DoubleTree by Hilton property, it is part of a globally recognized brand known for its warm welcome (including the signature chocolate chip cookie), comfortable accommodations, and a range of services catering to both leisure and business travelers, as well as events.

The "Hotels Near Of Me" platform aims to connect users with convenient and suitable lodging. The DoubleTree by Hilton Poughkeepsie's downtown location and comprehensive facilities make it a strong contender for local users who require easy access to city attractions, business venues, or are planning or attending special events.

Environment: Central Downtown Location with River Views

The DoubleTree by Hilton Poughkeepsie boasts an "excellent" and "centrally located" position in "beautiful downtown Poughkeepsie." This prime address at Civic Center Plaza places guests within walking distance of key downtown attractions and facilities. Reviews specifically mention its proximity to "The Academy" (likely referring to The Academy at the Civic Center, a performing arts venue or event space within the Civic Center Plaza) and a "quick drive to The Grandview by the river," which is a popular waterfront event venue. This makes the hotel highly convenient for attendees of events at these locations or for those wishing to explore the vibrant downtown area.

A significant environmental feature highlighted by guests is the "lovely views of the FDR mid-Hudson bridge." This indicates that many rooms offer picturesque vistas, adding to the aesthetic appeal of a stay. The hotel's position, especially from higher floors, provides an urban landscape complemented by the scenic beauty of the Hudson River and its iconic bridge. The property itself is described as "clean," contributing to a pleasant and comfortable ambiance upon arrival and throughout the stay.

However, the hotel's downtown location, while beneficial for access, does come with some environmental challenges. Parking is noted as "rough" and the "parking entrance and exit were tight and somewhat frustrating to navigate." This is a common issue in urban hotels and something local users should be aware of, especially if arriving during peak times or with larger vehicles. Despite this, guests who have experienced it indicate that "overall it worked."

Services: Accommodating Staff and Event Expertise

The service quality at DoubleTree by Hilton Poughkeepsie receives positive remarks. The staff is consistently described as "polite and accommodating throughout our stay." This is particularly important for a hotel that hosts events like wedding blocks, where responsiveness and helpfulness are critical. The dedication of the staff in assisting with various guest needs contributes significantly to a positive overall experience.

For wedding blocks and other events, the hotel offers extensive services. The "bridal and groomsman suites were spacious and great for getting ready," indicating that the hotel understands and caters to the specific needs of event parties. The availability of a bar that was open "till about 2 am" provides a convenient social space for guests. The hotel also provides "nice breakfast options for the next morning," which is a key amenity for many travelers and often a part of event packages. While specific details on the breakfast offerings were not provided by the customers who had outside catering, DoubleTree hotels typically offer a hot breakfast buffet, often included in the room rate or available for purchase.

The hotel's core services also include standard amenities like daily housekeeping, a 24-hour front desk, and complimentary Wi-Fi, essential for both leisure and business travelers. The hotel is also known for its welcoming gesture of a warm chocolate chip cookie upon check-in, a signature DoubleTree touch that enhances the guest experience.

Features: Spacious Suites and Extensive Event Facilities

One of the most praised features of the DoubleTree by Hilton Poughkeepsie is the spaciousness of its rooms, particularly the suites. A reviewer enthusiastically noted that their "1 King Room Suite... was massive! Definitely a great option for a family or bridal party to get ready in." The rooms are described as "very modern and updated," suggesting recent renovations or well-maintained contemporary decor. This modern aesthetic is beneficial for "getting ready photos" during events, adding to the hotel's appeal as a wedding venue.

The hotel's event capabilities are a significant feature. Its "banquet hall, event spaces, and terraces were all very well-maintained and nicely set up." This indicates that the hotel is well-equipped to host a variety of functions, from large weddings to corporate meetings. The availability of outdoor terraces adds a versatile option for events, providing scenic views and fresh air.

However, a notable functional issue highlighted by guests is the elevator situation. For a "10-floor hotel, having only two elevators—one of which was broken for our entire 4-day stay—was a major inconvenience." This led to "elevator wait times were often 7–10 minutes," especially with the hotel "near full capacity." While guests would still consider staying again due to location and overall experience, this is a significant operational challenge that, if fixed, would make it "easily a 5-star stay." This highlights the importance of consistent maintenance of critical infrastructure for guest convenience.

Other typical DoubleTree features would include a fitness center, and possibly a pool (though not explicitly mentioned in these reviews, it's a common Hilton amenity). The presence of a bar offering extended hours is also a convenient feature for guests.

We had a pleasant stay at this centrally located hotel in beautiful downtown Poughkeepsie, with lovely views of the FDR mid-Hudson bridge. The location is excellent—just a short walk to The Academy and a quick drive to The Grandview by the river. The property was clean, and the staff were polite and accommodating throughout our stay. We were in town for a wedding event, and the hotel's banquet hall, event spaces, and terraces were all very well-maintained and nicely set up. Though we didn't try the hotel's food (as our event had outside catering), the overall ambiance and service were solid. However, for a 10-floor hotel, having only two elevators—one of which was broken for our entire 4-day stay—was a major inconvenience. With the hotel near full capacity, elevator wait times were often 7–10 minutes. Also, the parking entrance and exit were tight and somewhat frustrating to navigate. Despite these issues, we would consider staying here again for the location and overall experience. Fix the elevator and parking, and this would easily be a 5-star stay.

Only went there coz every DMV in NYC is booked solid for 4 months and I need a RealiD. Fortunately they're 2 blocks away. View was just the parking lot on the convention center (and a tiny outdoor area for weddings? Eh.) with the bridge waaay off in the distance. Church view was probably better. Staff were great and helpful, room was clean and most of the lamps made sense. All the outlets and USB ports were good condition. TV had options for HDMI which is very nice if you need that. On the rideshare back to the train, I noticed some life there towards the Hudson. Prolly a good idea to use Google streets to orient yourself if you're planning on going for more than a day.

This location is our go to spot whenever we are going to see a concert or go to an event in the city. It’s close to the train station, and very reliable. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff is friendly, and it’s quiet. This time we got back very late and were hungry. Tanika was at the front desk and helped us. She was wonderful. Very charismatic and friendly. Went above and beyond to find us some plastic silverware to take up to our room. Give this girl a raise! We will be back.

Seriously? 7:00 breakfast? I don’t know what to say about that. I was going to stay two nights, but, no chance of that. The toilet doesn’t flush, and nobody from housekeeping says anything to maintenance? I appreciate the upgrade, but with 10 floors, you should probably get the second elevator fixed. Looking around for the extra blanket for the pullout bed, but, no luck there either. And no cookies 🧐
